Hextech Gems and the upcoming seasons
So, as it stands we currently have 1 skin and 1 ward exclusive to Hextech crafting, being Hextech Annie, and the Hextech ward. Disregarding whether you are satisfied with the mode of obtaining them, I think me, and most players would love to see this skin line contine, especially if they will maintain the animatin quality of Hextech Annie.
However, I don't think Riot would very much like to just release more skins under the "have 10 gems get a skin" system, as it begins to lose some of the speciality of it after some point. It is a good introduction of the system, however.
As seasons continue, and Hextech continues to be a big money and time sink, older players will need to feel incentive-ized to continue crafting. Sure skins are great, but likeliness is, that after a point you will have all the skins you actually want. At this point the likeliness of riot selling a hextech chest/key will drop dramatically for that player. Another aspect of long time players of evolving games like this, is that long time players like to feel rewarded for their loyalty and continued service, one of the ways Riot has addressed this is with legacy skins.
Now, personally Hextech Annie, being an exclusive, as well as her level of quality is that of a legacy skin, therefore I propose that we get seasonal gems to craft more and more Hextech skins at a rate of 1 per season. That way, play in each season is rewarded, the Cool skin line contines, the longevity of hextech crafting is increased, and oler players have another avenue of play for themselves.
But wait, what about new players you may ask. Well, we have so many holidays in League of Legends, From Lunar Revel, to Snowdown, what if, for the period of these holidays, any chests opened, can contain gems of any season, potentially adding up to a craftable legacy skin.
I'd also propose that any old gems may be updated to the current season, or saved for another holiday.
