Just pointing that out there. Don't post the winrate on him, I really don't care. He's doing a lot of damage.

I've commented on it before but there is a couple reasons why he is currently pretty beefy and why Riot isn't touching him. Not going to go off again but simply put, wait until Runes because that will effect him A LOT. He is likely a tad overtuned for that vary reason and nerfing him now would be a waste of time and resources. He is also in a weird spot where he suddenly jumped like 5% playrate so people are all of a sudden needing to relearn the matchup along with his new weaknesses. Give it some time for players to readjust to him.

That's when you punish by jumping on him cause he can't reposition his soldiers for quite some time

His laning phase is too strong, old Azir was at his lowest point mid game and now new Azir is a beast at that time. Then since he's a DPS mage, his lategame is just stupid. The range nerfs weren't enough to balance the amount of damage he does. The rework didn't solve anything, it just made his damage higher, he gets free attack speed, and now he gets an AP scaling shield for just pressing E. It's impossible to lose trades as him unless you're against someone named Kassadin. It's impossible to get outscaled unless you're against twitch. That's it. Two champions in the entire game "counter" him. Since he has so much more access to soldiers he's even safer than he was before as well. Having 1-2 soldiers was a tradeoff between doing more damage or being safe and was easier to avoid. Just balance him around that...

He has something to answer anything in the game. He has no shortage of mobility, damage, range, safety. Haven't even mentioned his ability to knock enemies out of position for a guaranteed gank. And don't say that takes crazy mechanics, because it really doesn't. Wanna win a teamfight? Press W 3 times and Q in their general direction.

the only counterplay to 3 soldiers up is just "be ranged" or be on the other side of the map

I mean, he really isn't all that bad....

....until you realize his Q is undodgeable...

A high damage-output character is doing high-damage output stuff. Better nerf him. He is overpowered in my opinion, but that argument is kinda weak.

he is strong in the same way adcs are, by late game he provides a high damage dps at long range

hell he does this for most of the game, but by late game he can guarantee it with lower cds

Just like always. Then go ahead and spam him on ranked if you think he is good.

His laning phase has too much damage, it was specifically nerfed because he's oppressive when he has damage early since his poke pattern is so basic.

I feel that he's worse late game now though, he can't safely DPS. He's all based around his shuffle late game now.

You know who else is really strong with all these good ADC items lying around? Tryndamere.

His changes seem somewhat contrary to the goals of his rework.

Only marginally decreased range and safety: -Due to the Q hitbox ("thrust") change, his poke range is still comparable to his old. -The new Q clumping mechanic greatly augments his late game poke/burst/DPS. -Due to the W placement range increase, his panic shuffle's length is only ~100 range shorter. He can also more safely place soldiers directly in range of lane minions without having to spend 70 mana on a Q. -Azir gains a shield on E even when using it purely defensively.

Battle mage? -Azir's long range playmaking shuffles decrease a full ~150 range along with his Q, unlike his panic shuffles. -Itemization is shifting from Nashor's + multiplicative stats to Morello's + flat penetration.

I'd say the aggregate of Azir's scaling shield, huge AS buff on W, and Q clumping mechanic more than offsets his situational loss of ~150 range.

However, I still think a large part of Azir's recent powerup has been due to the new builds that skip Nashor's and even go for flat penetration over Rylai's. Imagine if Azir had been given love tap buffs that specifically allowed him to dip into the ubiquitous midlane Morello's+Sorc's build. I wouldn't want this, but I think he'd probably be viable. Instead we got very large buffs that still pigeonholed him into that build.
