Ahem, Teemo has over 50% winrate and a 13% ban rate. Anyone mind explaining?

We all know these new runes brought a lot of damage, more so because everyone's made of wet paper now, even tanks. But now Teemo is among the champs with the highest winrates. I haven't played much during the presason while I wait for the new season and better balance so I haven't personally encountered this Satan on roids.

According to Lolalytics Teemo has 52.63% winrate Plat+ and the best Teemos are pulling 59.38%, which is huge. His banrate is sitting at 13.45% which implies AIDS and cancer combined. He now ranks DIAMOND tier among all champs https://lolalytics.com/ranked/worldwide/platinum/plus/champion/Teemo/

Champion.gg shows 54.30% winrate, he has top winrate, top ban rate and top play rate http://champion.gg/champion/Teemo/Top

Can anyone explain how these new runes or items are specifically benefiting Satan? I have never seen Teemo with such high numbers (been playing since season 5). Have you personally encountered Teemo more in your games, is he now worse than ever?

Teemo has always been pure cancer and we all love him for that, but Teemo isn't meant to pull such high numbers. That makes him dangerously cancerous in a non-meme way.

Because Summon Aery and Arcane Comet, as Teemo can proc the damn thing too easily and abuse them like no tomorrow (especially Aery).

Teemo's poison lasts longer than aery's cd so If you Q (proc aery) and auto your lane opponent, the poison will tick long enough to proc eary's damage again on your laner before the poison wears off.

It's incredibly annoying

Teemo has a whole lot of new toys with the new runes. Press the attack can cause his poison to deal more damage. Lethal Tempo gives oh-hit Teemo players a hard on. He can reliably apply Fleet Footwork and it sustains him in lane while helps kiting and chasing throughout. Teemo can also apply Electrocute pretty well, and Dark Harvest, while more of a jungler rune, isn’t bad per se. Of course, Teemo can apply Comet and Aery across the fucking map thanks to his shrooms. Phase Rush is also easily applied. As for the inspiration tree, Spellbook let’s him have the threat of ignite up more often, and he can easily proc Klepto and Glacial path.

This isn’t even going to the normal tier runes. The point is that Teemo players got a lot to theory craft with, as they can use a lot of the runes.

The thing about Teemo that people who don't play him do not see is that he is EXTREMELY versatile. Just like he always could build almost any item in the game, right now he can abuse virtually every abusible keystone there is. He has makes great use of Aery, Comet and klepto, but if those weren't there he could pull of Press the attack just as easily, or when Lethal Tempo/Fleet get buffed he can do that.

Basically, in s8 whichever keystone becomes the strongest, Teemo players are immediately going to switch to that one, with obvious exception of resolve tree.

so the one time he might actually be accepted into club meta...... we beat him up more? XD (he has been low tier since this games conception)

I mean, I absolutely loathe Teemo and ban him no matter what champion I play.

One thing that might be contributing is the Arcane Comet keystone, which triggers on basically his entire kit, but most notably his mushrooms.

Start with a trap that you can't see (and thus can't reasonably dodge or counter-play around), which does a large DoT, but which also applies a strong slow.

Now add Arcane Comet being able to trigger on that mushroom from anywhere on the map, and the slow from the mushroom basically guaranteeing the comet lands, and you've got some ridiculous damage potential with near zero counterplay.

Now add in the fact that Arcane Comet can trigger from each and every tick of the poison damage, meaning that if it's on cooldown when they hit the mushroom, but comes off cooldown before the DoT expires, it will still fire off and probably hit.

I don't know if this is truly unbalanced from a pure numbers standpoint, but it's certainly some of the most infuriatingly toxic gameplay ever to crop up in League. It's absolutely maddening to play against Teemo currently - so that's going to account for a lot of the bans he gets.

Even if he's "balanced" to play against, he's gone over a pretty severe line in terms of being obnoxious and frustrating to play against.

Personally, I think Arcane Comet needs a maximum range beyond which it can't trigger.
