Matchmaking late at night makes zero sense

So I shouldn't even bother writing this, because all it's going to do is earn me downvotes and a bunch of you suck comments (and I do :P) but late at night when attempting matchmaking the system seems to give exactly zero shits about how fair the match is going to be. Usually the result is a completely one sided stomp, that often gets chocked up to a few early mistakes and carry champions..

However in a very rare case in normal matches, nearly every single member was ranked. The game decided that it would be fair to pit a bunch of silvers against a mix of gold platinum and diamond. The odd card out was there bronze V, who's mmr must have been 2 for the system to consider it a balanced matchup. Of course that would be impossible, and lolking doesn't place him that far.

So what happens after the 1 minute mark? Does the system just say fuck it and pair up teams with whoever it feels like? I mean.. I think that game would have taught the opposing team how to do anything but die if perhaps they swapped one of those silvers for the diamond.

One sided stomps are not fun for either side.. and if for some reason.. the entire group was a team, just make them wait five more minutes for another match that would be fair. Don't just have matchmaking 'give up' after 1 minute.

I must agree. I've been noticing the same thing happening very consistently later at night. Personally, I don't really care if I'm level 30 ranked silver playing against some level 8 guy who started a week ago. Easy win for me and I can go stomp their silver or gold mid with all the free gold I got from the newbie.

But that's not fair. I would much rather have a fair game where the system at least TRIES to make it an even matchup.

I suggest an option in the settings menu to satisfy the OP's request. Allow players to choose their queue, maybe something like "Quickest" or "Most Balanced"

also... Akali

I've been getting a lot of games with players that are under 30 at night. Like Rito pls. There is absolutely no way they are going to have a good experience in this game.

Didn't want you to post this and not receive your down votes. You're welcome! ;)

It is mostly because so many people are asleep at night that the match making system queues up anyone it can find.

Just wanted to chime in and say: What.. the.. fuck?

We won that game because he had not 1, but 2 afkers. He probably could have still butchered us with just one person out of it. But what I learned from that, was how to take gunshots to the face. Lots and lots of gunshots to the face.

When there are fewer players available (like very late at night/early morning) the matchmaking system is more willing to make uneven matches, or ones with wide skill ranges.

They're constantly balancing between speed of matchmaking and quality of matchmaking. It's not so easy unless you want to sit in queue for a REALLY long time.
