I am officially uninstalling this game, because I am a diamond player who can't escape Bronze.

QUICK ASIDE: I will comment below on one of my former diamond accounts: dadnekton. I don't recall the name of my other one.

The reason I can't get out of bronze is because Riot has done too much to minimize the influence of skill. The impact of skill on the outcome of a game (win/loss) is diminished by a game change when the game change causes elements other than skill to have more influence on game outcome. For example, if randomness matters more after a game change, it follows that skill has to matter less. Riot has basically equalized the playing field in terms of skill with these implementations: an extremely punishing bounty system - punishing good players; a severely punishing amount of kill xp on targets that out level their killers - punishing good players; death timers that scale with level - punishing good players; a lot of blatantly overpowered champions which diminish the influence of skill, because said champions are too strong to fail even in the hands of bad players - punishing good players; catch up experience for junglers that allows them to sit on a good players lane all day whilst keeping level parody with everyone in the game - punishing good players; randomness in terms of which elemental dragons spawn, which diminishes the influence of skill, because the influence of randomness has increased.

This confluence of game changes from Season 6 onward has basically culminated in League of Legends socialism, because players with the skill that should afford them the ability to climb to higher ranks has been crippled, bringing them down to an even playing field with the bad players. If you align with socialism politically that's fine; it doesn't work in League of Legends. If I wanted to get out of bronze I could I suppose, but because skill matters much less, it will take me many more games than it should. I don't have time to waste on a video game where bad players are rewarded while good players are punished to the point where skill expression is nigh impossible. Good riddance to you, Riot.

EDIT: If you're going to look through my match history and say "you went 3 and 3!" I literally have 2 just okay scores in ranked so far, and it is hard to maintain a good score when your team is feeding. I believe I have 2 okay scores in ranked, and 5 very good scores.

So losing in bronze hurt your ego so hard, you had to come to boards to vent your frustrations and justify you losing due to Rito ruining the game?

That is hilarious and pathethic at the same time. I have never had problems hard stomping matches in low elo. You also base the whole post upon 3 losses, which is not nearly enough to make any reasonable conclusion from.

Terrible post, but at least it's kinda funny.

Terrible post, but at least it's kinda funny. Losing bronze isn't the issue itself; the issue is the changes to the game that have caused my skill to have less influence in place of other factors like randomness, champion select etc... The current League of Legends is extremely inimical to lead maintenance, because when you die with a lead you give up monstrous amounts of xp and gold that basically even out the playing field. What is my counter play to 1000 shutdown gold? Not ever dying? And if we can agree that it is extremely difficult to keep a lead, you should be able to understand that it is difficult to win consistently in the absence of any significant snowballing.

Davaken3 votes

While I would agree that bounties are a tad bit overtuned atm, I still have no problem keeping a lead. In most of my games, the game is decided early on anyway, especially in bronze where people tilt to ever-living hell. I'm seeing people basically solo-carrying games on champions like Yasuo, Jax, Vayne, Lee Sin and Darius in Diamond, meanwhile you can't even accomplish that in Bronze.

Your bounty will also be reduced significantly if your team is very behind in gold. Also, you really shouldn't be dying to bronze players at all, honestly. I don't know what you mean by "randomness" unless you wanna blame your losses on dragon or scuttle spawns, which is a bit of a stretch. Champ select has always been important, always will.

WAZZZUP5004 votes

The reason why it's prob more difficult in bronze is that (other than the reasons in the post) the rest of your team in bronze doesn't have the sense to push a lead. I would encourage op to play jungle, jg is a role that can snowball lanes and take over the game

Davaken1 votes

There was that one Challenger player who got a 100 game winstreak on Janna, on a smurf. I do believe he was duoing, so doesn't really count, but you can definitely also stomp low elo games on other roles, even though Jungle is probably the best.

Kai Guy16 votes

Just to be clear your complaining about a sample size of 7 to 8 games?

GripaAviara4 votes

It's frustrating, not many have time to play 1k games

Vizulix7 votes

Except you shouldn't complain about being stuck in a league when you haven't even played enough games in one role to finish your placements. 8 games is a nonexistent sample size.

Marshbouy4 votes

I went from silver 4 to gold 5 in like 60 games, so uh, no.

Quepha1 votes

8 games and he won 6 of them.

Kai Guy1 votes

Screw it. I say let him uninstall then. Honestly I feel like literally no ones going to miss a smurf account.

Deep Terror Nami13 votes

I looked at OP.GG and unless it's missing info, it doesn't look like you've played much Ranked this season. While you have a good win rate so far, you will have to actually play more than a handful of games to climb.

Do you have an account which is hard stuck Bronze after, say, 100 games? Forgive me if there is information I'm missing, if you have played many games on an account please share that so I can see what you're talking about.

Mrs Qtpie8 votes

Hey Deep Terror Nami, no I do not have that many games this season. I think I have played 7 or 8 and lost 3. The issue that I have, is that it would be inconceivable to lose 3/8 games in bronze/silver in Leagues glory days. The game has very clearly declined in the ways I mention in my post. Thanks for the comment.

That isn't true, hell, I can find plenty of games where pros doing unranked to challengers still lost games.

Mrs Qtpie4 votes

I've leveled up 4 accounts in my time, and I have never lost 3 games in a row until maybe gold? If you kill the enemy Nasus 3 times in lane, and out level him by 2 you have a big lead. Because of shutdown xp (this is very real) and shut down gold that astronomical sized lead you had is basically gone the moment you die. If that Nasus gets a ank and kills you, he gets 600 shutdown gold, and he will level up more than 80% of the time (variance is caused by how close he is to currently leveling).

So then you should still be ahead of him then right? Because if you have two levels on him, you would be hard denying him far more then that 600 gold he got.

The monumental lead would be diminished to a slight lead. Having a slight lead on a late game hyper carry such as Nasus won't suffice, because the goal of a Nasus player is to lose early by a slight amount so you can be useful in the later stages. In my opinion, kill experience should not account for the opponents level (you shouldn't get extra exp for killing a higher level champion). Also, I think shutdown gold should not exceed 600. Shutdown gold is currently limitless, but is capped at 1000 per kill with the remainder carrying over.

And he lost early, and if you were truly as good as you think, even a slight lead should still be enough.

Not at all. Put me on Jax and have Faker face me as Soraka in a 1 vs 1; I will destroy Faker every time, because the champion you play matters a ton. If you are playing a late game champion in late game, you are going to have more of an impact than the enemy pantheon that was beating you for the first 20 minutes.

I'm fairly sure if you were ACTUALLY Faker level, you wouldn't be getting beat.

The issue is that players like faker can still lose in bronze due to braindead champs and skill-punishing mechanics.

Based on eight games with three losses?

Can you keep it up and let us know how it goes? Because eight games really is too limited of a data pool.

I had another diamond account a short time ago, and I have a plat account from last season which I can make diamond. The plat account's name is "Japan Logan Paul." It is another Renekton 1 trick with some Jax in the mix. Even if you want to argue that I am merely a platinum player, platinum players shouldn't have difficulty escaping bronze; I do.

Nik Nikerson9 votes

Difficulty escaping bronze? YOU'VE ONLY PLAYED LIKE 15 RANKED GAMES. Quit making shit up.

PB4UAME4 votes

Diamond 5 would be the equivalent of Diamond 4 in this system. Also, the competitive integrety several years ago is a night and day difference to now. Rank in seasons 3-5 mean far more than ranks season 6+ because of shit like autofill, dynamic queue, RIOTs systemic changes, mobility creep, damage creep, deleting defenses, removing close to 80 MR, 100 armor and 1400 HP from 5 item defensive builds, etc

6KEMBE4ORBA2 votes

Yeah, like all these players claiming that earlier ranks dont mean anything while Riot has turned this game the past few years into deathmatch brawl with little to no strategy behind it.

And moreover, the dumb kind of "deathmach brawl" that consist of illogical stuff like the new CS bounties (that go against League's core design), bad balance and design decisions like the baron & dragons' buffs and numerous other r%%%%%ed stuff.

Marshbouy5 votes

there's no way he is. Climbing out of silver on support (not bronze sadly) didn't take me that long at all. OP is literally mad that he lost 3 out of 8 games.

Yeh it's insane, on another account I usually play in Challenger ELO with my pals from TSM but Riot has fucked the system so now I'm stuck in Gold 4. This game is so unfair :( I'm just a lost challenger smurf trying to impress people in low elo :'(

I'm diamond as well and when I play with my bronze gf I will sometimes lose against a team comprised of players who are between a low plat level to a bronze level. I know the feeling of being a decent player but losing regardless quite well. It feels weird.

Not really, no. I may go back to Dota sometime or play battle royals with my friends, but I still enjoy league for playing with my SO and the occasional ranked. I don't play much though.

It's not the meta. It's the current matchmaking and I am not even talking about positional ranking. You just can't climb properly if you mix random Elos all together in one game. It's like matchmaking doesn't even exist atm.

BigFBear4 votes

8 games? Wtf 😅

Hochelaga3 votes

Someone who was Diamond and that can't get out of Bronze is beyond my reasoning.

If you can't get out of bronze, you definetly don't belong in diamond, but more in the division you can't get out.

Naalith3 votes

I was plat 4 last season and got placed gold 4 this season, and it only took me like 30 games in my highest role to get back to plat 4 even though I hate ranked and never play it. Additionally, my flex rank is plat 4 after ONE provisional game so I might consider attempting to get diamond in both queues.

If I, a plat player who never plays ranked, can get back despite gold having some good players, a diamond should at least get out of bronze.

How is it even possible for you to be placed in bronze? Most people get knocked down like 4-6 divisions, you should've been placed in gold at the bare minimum. The only way you wouldn't be is if your mmr last season was extremely low from losing a bunch after you hit diamond, which is suspect I must say.

Dweeebles1 votes

this is totally bogus I feel, but for season 9 all new accounts that have never played ranked will start out in Iron at the beginning of their placements, this is confirmed by Riot. So it doesn't matter how good you are or how high your MMR is, if you started a new account you will be placed in Iron to start with.

5050BS1 votes

That is how it should be. The issue is that these new Smurf accoounts are seeing how fukingshitballs messed up Lower ELO is.

5050BS1 votes

That is in part why you climbed so easy. If your account had 100s of Ranked games then you would not be allowed to climb. Riots system locks you in and there is no "play better" to get out of lower ELO

chipndip13 votes

You want to know why you uninstalled?

Your ego's inflated like a massive balloon.

From the proof you gave us, you hit D5 0 lp ONCE. That's hardly Diamond. Who cares? Yeah, you'll drop games in low elo when you main Renekton. Renekton is built to shut others down, not carry well himself. When it comes to low elo, this game's never been fair. Either pick up a harder carry and skill your way through the early game so you can run shit yourself, or don't and hope that your team doesn't shit the bed. You don't have a ton of other options.

Still, being D5 0 lp in season 6 when we're in season 9, then saying "I don't deserve this I'm Diamond I swear"? Nah, you can kindly stop the water works. If you were able to consistently hold Diamond for a bit it'd be different...at least a little.

Mom Linegrie2 votes

Guess they are afraid to fck up top 1-50 ranks. Same names. Impossible for new players to climb there cuz smurf waves after them. They are not even good. Just old players. Reset the mmr/elo and they will be plat 5 maximum.

OR REMOVE RANKS and use only mmr/elo system. Do not hide it.

Mom Linegrie2 votes

Also the damage of "carrys" is so nerfed. Back in good LoL times I was able to carry 1 v 5 with any champ on any lane, that i got fed with. Now it is only possible with maybe 5 champs max. The damage just is not there anymore, no matter how you build. It is now basically just ARAM in ranked with 3 lanes to start with but in 14 min all will be mid randombly. Splitpushing isn't the same anymore. It is not even an option now.

Mom Linegrie2 votes

Furthermore. Autofill matchmaking is so bad and stupid. Makes no sense. I choose my lane that I want to play, and suddenly i have to play some other lane???? Meanwhile i get to see how my picked lane feeds and game becomes uncarrialble? There used to be a pick order not a fcking autofill to random lane.

Mom Linegrie1 votes

Also, making it so that you do not gain blue essence, or what ever the f it is that you buy champs now, with every game is kinda stupid. Cant even start ranked at level 30 cause not enought champs/blue essence to buy 20 champs`??? even though i did not use boosts to level and played all games 5v5. Making it kinda random which champ u get from that stupid capsule and so on...

Saevum2 votes

That's good. More newcomers will realize LoL is not worth time playing. I say this as a mean to discourage the current path that Riot has taken.
