What if the elemental drake buffs were stronger but more playstyle specific?

I feel like flat buffs in general tend to be a bit boring. To me a buff is most interesting when in order to reap its benefits you have to alter your playstyle in some way.

What if each of the elemental drakes targeted each of the general playstyles in LoL? (split push, teamfight, assassin, skirmisher)

These are some ideas I came up with for each drake:

Mountain Drake (split push)

  • Increase damage to objectives but only when at least 1000 units away from any teammates.

Cloud Drake (assassin)

  • Increase out of combat movement speed in jungle and river.

Infernal Drake (team fight)

  • Increase AD/AP (9-10%) when all 5 teammates are within 500 units of each other.

Ocean Drake (skirmisher)

  • Increase lifesteal/spellvamp when near 3 or less teammates.

This would turn some champs into gods and punish others. It is fine where it is. People contest dragons, that while their gains are minimal its gold and builds over multiple captures. The different dynamics are already built into the champs to begin with.

But the drakes are randomly spawned and it's a neutral objective that both teams can go for. Are you saying that because the drakes are functional as they are that that's a good reason to not try to improve them or that LoL is actually a perfect game that doesn't need to evolve anymore?

I'm not against the general premise of group effects. I'm against a spike in infernal's potential. If it's 40% instead of 24% on 3 infernals, the win rate of a team that doesnt have infernals will drop from maybe 15% clear down to 1%. Infernals are basically stat sticks which enable post drake no skill wins. yet most teams completely ignore them if it's too much of a bother for the support or anyone else to ward....

Okay so your disagreement is one of quantity, not quality, is that right? When I say stronger drake buffs I mean just a little stronger, like 9-10%. Is the title of this post misleading? Should I have changed "stronger" to "somewhat stronger"? Maybe I mistakenly thought people would be charitable with their interpretation of "stronger" and just see my post for the essence that the drakes buff general playstyles more than flat stats. I'm not arguing for something like 40% on 3 infernals, I agree that would be absurd.

All I said is that the dragons are fine, in no way did I say LoL doesn't have other more pressing issues that need to be dealt with. There are many areas LoL needs some work, but drag ain't one of them.

I see, so you're not against this idea because of any balance issues but because you like the dragons as they are now. That's fair but not much to go on for a discussion.

I just think that other larger problems have to be fixed before a change like this could happen because it will only imbalance the rocky season already. Take it as putting a magnifying glass on something really ugly. It won't get prettier.

But what does that have to do with considering this idea on its own merit? You're saying all posts about anything other than "ADCs are too strong" or "Bruisers are too weak" should be downvoted or derailed?

Like the idea but in reality a stronger infernal would be even more oppressive. The game is riddled with jungle huddle fights where Infernal already nukes an entire team in 1-2 seconds.

Then decrease the radius requirement for teams to be huddled or the AD/AP it gives until it's balanced. Do you not think that would work?
