Ashes of Ashe

I am aware that Ashe is doing fine already, but I want to give off some ideas I had for Ashe. She is still a reliable marksman, offering a lot of utility to win her fights.

Ashe Ashe, the Frost Archer

Ashe is a ranged Marksman. Receiving the gift from Avorosa, a Bow of Ice, Ashe can freeze her targets with ice, slowing nearby enemies. Being a gifted archer, Ashe can focus a target to take them out.

Passive: Focus

While Ashe is out of combat, she gains focus so that her next shot is a critical strike. After 3 seconds out of combat, she gains (4/5/6/7/8) (At levels 1/5/9/13/17) stacks of Focus, up to 100. Once it is 100, her next attack will be a critical attack. Once consumed, Focus resets to her Critical Strike Chance.

Many people have complained how this passive is not as reliable as other passives. People have asked if this passive should be increased with her Q Toggled on or if her Q and her Passive should swap.

Q: Frost Shot

Ashe's Attacks are enhanced with ice, slowing anyone she hits. Toggle On: Ashe's Attacks slows her Enemies by (15/20/25/30/35%) for 2 seconds. Consumes mana per shot.

Her basic utility, reflecting off of her other ability: Volley. People have asked Riot to try to swap her Q and her Passive.

W: Volley

Ashe fires 7 arrows in a cone, slowing all that was struck. Ashe fires in a 57.5 degree cone, applying her Frost Shot's Slow to all that was struck.

Her reliable kiting ability.

E: Hawk Shot

Ashe passively gains gold for units she kills. She can activate this ability to send a hawk spirit to an area to grant vision for a few seconds. Passive: Grants 3 gold for each unit Ashe kills. Active: Ashe animates a hawk to scout for her, granting sight until it reaches its destination of (2500/3250/4000/4750/5500 units), where it grants a 1000 radius area vision for 5 seconds, extending the vision into bushes.

Some people have complained about this ability not being reliable enough and would prefer an escape or a dash ability. I disagree with this because I have thought of Ashe as a scout as well as an archer, so she scouts ahead before making her next move.

R: Enchanted Crystal Arrow

Ashe fires a giant arrow that travels indefinitely, and upon hitting an enemy champion, it stuns them for seconds based on how long the arrow has traveled while nearby enemies receive reduced damage and are slowed. Ashe deals (250/425/600) (plus 100% Ability Power) magic damage, stunning her target for 1 ~ 3.5 seconds depending on how long the arrow has traveled. Nearby enemies receive 50% of the damage and slow.

A beautiful part of Ashe's kit. The global ult was not meant to kill, but provide the hard CC that would help allies kill her target.

Overall: Ashe is still doing fine as is. Even though we have some arguments from the community about Ashe's kit, her kit is still reasonable. But I would like to attempt a rework on her kit.

TL;DR Here is a slight rework I want to attempt.

Passive: Avorosa's Gift

Ashe's Basic attacks apply a (1% + .5% per level) slow (Up to 10% at Level 18). Ashe's abilities enhance the slowing effects. (May alter numbers differently for better early game slow)

Q: Frost Shot

After .5 seconds, Ashe's next auto-attack is guaranteed to be a critical strike and triples the slow from her passive for 2 seconds (And maybe increase Ashe's auto-attack range until her next auto-attack is fired). Applies an ailment "Focus" on her target, which allows Ashe to reapply the hard slow from Frost Shot until her target escapes her and avoids damage from Ashe for 2 seconds. (The combination of Ashe's Frost Shot and her basic attacks can go up to 40%. Applies "frozen" on her target so others like Sejuani and Anivia can make use of their abilities.)

W: Volley

Ashe fires 7 arrows in a 57.5 degree cone, each one that hits a target triples the slow from her Passive for the next 2 seconds and can reset the debuff from Frost Shot.

E: Hawkshot

Passive: For each unit Ashe kills, she gains 3 gold. The passive is tripled upon killing Enemy Champions and structures. Active: Ashe animates a hawk spirit to scout for her, granting sight until it reaches its destination, granting a 1000 radius area sight for 5 seconds.

R: Enchanted Crystal Arrow

Same as original. I would like for it to have a slight increase in its projectile speed, and maybe a slight decrease in its radius explosion for compensation.

Overall: I would like to repeat myself: I know Ashe is already doing fine as is, but I just wanted to attempt a "rework" to see what the community thinks.

I am aware that Ashe is doing fine already

I'd hardly call it that. Ashe is a "niche" pick at best and completely unviable at worst. Her passive is arguably the worst in the game (at least Lissandra's doesn't stop when she attacks someone), her slow is negligible, Volley doesn't do enough damage, there's no reason to level Hawkshot past level 1, and her ultimate has AP scaling on it. Ashe needs a MF esque kit overhaul before she's ever going to be even considered "fine" again.

I'd say that if Ashe is a niche pick, then she is definitely fine. What ADC has a focus on teamfight control and initiation? Ashe is the only answer, with Varus being a somewhat distant second, and even he doesn't compare to the control that Ashe has.

Are you done? She is actually probably the best ADC in the game. But there are some people like you, who call her trash because you don't understand how she works, or how to play her properly.

First, nice job downvoitng me because you disagree. That's real mature of you. Second, Ashe is one of the most simple marksmen in the game. And this is coming from someone who mains Miss Fortune. No, the reason why Ashe sucks is because she's the most gankable champion in the game. Compared to the other ADCs, she doesn't do enough damage, and being "the slow marksman" hasn't helped her since every champion and their grandma now has some form of dash. But no, keep deluding yourself into believing you're some special snowflake that plays a champion well and calling yourself top tier because you do well with them. I main Gangplank but don't delude myself into calling him TEH BEST TOP LANA EVAH because I pubstomp with him.

I don't gank Ashe.

I think 'L2play' comes into effect here. You need to place some wards down my friend.

Oh wow, you got your retarded Ashe buddies to join in on your reddit-esque circlejerk I see. You know what, you keep believing that your mediocre champion is sleeper OP, and I'll continue getting free kills bot lane when playing as Vi. kthnxbye.

I like this. It gives Ashe a reason to be picked as an ADC for her permanent slow potential. Every champion needs a selling point and a permaslow definitely is one. An on-command critical strike is really good too.

The slow provided by the passive you suggested would either have to be reduced greatly or randomly proc for it to be fair, since no-cost perma-slow is just dumb. I like what you're suggesting, though.

Early game, you get a 2% to a 5% slow with just basic auto-attacks. It's not too much I assume. I have tried to keep the numbers low, but if you think it should be lower, ill change it if others agree with you. I also said her Q and W triples the passive, so early game can go for 6% to 15% slow with an ability. Her Q provides the power slow debuff on her target, allowing her to "focus" her target with regular auto-attacks to "reapply" the slow debuff. So a "weak" slow for a passive is reasonable I assume. A stronger slow COMES from her abilities that costs mana.

A passive permaslow with no cost and an on-demand critical strike are both too much. A free permanent slow means it has to be negligible in order for Ashe to be balanced, while a guaranteed critical strike is downright broken in the laning phase and almost useless in the late game if your version of the ability didn't have the bonus passive slow on it.

The passive slow is weaker than her current Q Toggled on. Plus, I have tried to make it "negligible", but for early game and mid game. Her power slow only comes from her abilities, which all rely on her passive. The crit on her Q may be a bit too much, but I haven't given it enough thought. And for late game, I doubt you are doing it for a crit but for a "focused" target. That's the point of Ashe, she focuses someone and takes them down with ice. Plus, I can make it to where it is a critical strike, but level 1/2/3/4/5, her Q crit damage is reduced by 20/15/10/5/0% if that helps keep her limited early game.

Your thoughts on her passive are great! Check out our Ashe change suggestions as well :) .

Also what about that ult scaling off AP?

Hm...

You have a good list of Ashe's pros/cons and explaining some of her problems.

Your solutions are .. eh...

**1) Increasing Ashe's Base Damage. **

For one that has better control of their crits, I would avoid it.

2) Change Frost Shot

Your first suggestion for frost stacks is a cool idea but I have heard it plenty of times from others as well.

Adding attack speed slow along with her Frost Shot, I would not mind but it has to be a smaller slow than the Movement speed.

Obviously, your final suggestion for this is similar to my suggestion.

3) Change Hawkshot

No fear. Never.

No circling Hawk. She's not Quinn. And the Hawk only assisted Ashe "on her path".

No firing speed steroid. She needs focus, not randomly firing arrows and hoping something hits.

4) Change Enchanted Crystal Arrow

No. Not fully at least.

Increasing the damage the further it travels is iffy to me. The Stun part already makes up for it. But you are wanting to swap a power stun, for close range enemies, all for damage, for far away enemies. That's... trying to make her ult an escape move or an execution move. It's more diverse, but... agh... This is iffy to me.

5) New Passive

No to the new passive.

Also what about that ult scaling off AP?

The reason it scales off of AP is because it was never intended to be a kill shot. It's intended to initiate a fight from global range. There should not be so much power (especially AD Power) off a 3.5 second stun because it's already powerful enough. I would not mind giving her ult a partial amount of AD ratios, but it's iffy.

Those of you that are confused, I am commenting on GalaticBars forum. Apologies for the confusion.

I like what you are suggesting, in fact I agree that there needs to be a link between her passive and her Q. You wrote:

My suggestion would be to activate the passive when you toggle her Q - It will charge until it reaches 100 stacks, you can toggle Q in the meantime activating the slow, however once the passive is stacked the next activation of Q will proc the passive. What is nice about this is that many times you waste the passive while farming, so once you see the passive is stacked you have it ready for your next champion engage. This builds around skill awareness and management of your abilities. Also, since it would most likely be charged after recalling you would have it and your opponent would know this so they would not want to get to close especially if they are low on health. When I play against an ashe who has recalled, I wait for her to hit a minion in lane before engaging so I know her crit is off.

And - if you want to power up her R more make it crit for a percentage of her bonus AD only if her passive is charged and her Q is active - once again making the player determine when to use the passive or saving it for the engage.

Just thought of this idea for a new passive, but with ashe being a scout what if she had increased crit chance when hiding in the brush or increase the charge while in the bush to stack like it would out of combat? I'm pulling a little from Caits passive on the shear fact that I remember someone saying that Cait's is more reliable for the same thing. Again no "testing" or anything just a thought.
