How to play against an Azir?

As the title says how do you play against him.. The problem i am facing against him are

  1. He easily out ranges ranges almost everyone... And his poke is like wtf (Old Nid's spear could be dodged what do i do against him?) .. (seen him do 1v2 or 1v3 with soldiers)
  2. He has easy escape with the sand soldiers and if you try to dive him he used his ultimate to disengage and can escape easily.

1st Don't just say hard engage as every squishy is susceptible to Hard Engage. Point would how do you Engage when he can play from that range in lane and has easy escape as well as a great disengage...

2nd [For me being to play against him] i only play few Solo laners in priority .. (Kayle, Rivern, Irelia, Lulu, Akali, Shyv,Zed [You can count out the melle ones as that is equivalent to suicide] ) and unlike all other high range champs whose skill shot i can dodge this one is a bit problematic as there is nothing to dodge... Do i need a new champ just to play against him?

Thanks in advance for any help

If he decides to use a second soldier he has no escape. He's extremely mana hungry so can't harass very well. Anyone with a blink, or the spell can counter his ult. His escape takes a while to set up, W > Q > E. Nuke him, he can't take the heat, and given his long escape time you will have ample time. also don't play melee's against him.

Azir is hard to fight against, but there is one pivotal weakness with him. His early game. The Sand Bird will have to burn off all of his mana to either harass or clear minion waves effectively.

He's also extremely squishy, and you can flash over his Ult. My recommendation is to have your jungler gank as often as possible. Those happen to be the only tips I got on beating the guy. Luckily, nobody plays as him much these days.

Nami. Sand doesn't like water.

Heyo, I play Azir frequently, so I thought I'd weigh in with what messes me up.

He has great range, yes, but bad sustain, very mana-hungry early. A manaless champion can push him out of lane with health pots.

As you mentioned you can't really 'dodge' his soldiers' attacks; but Azir is severely punished for positioning them poorly. Unlike other mages, his spells aren't fire-and-forget; he commits to damaging one place at a time. If you can get out of that area, to him, then you're in the clear. There's different ways to do that, depending on your champion and the situation, but IMO that's what kills me the most as Azir. Getting punished for positioning.

  1. Outpoke. Azir may have good range, but his early-game damage is lacking, unless you eat every Q he throws (they can be dodged) or stand next to his soldiers constantly.
  2. Outposition. Azir can only cover so much of his lane in soldiers, and you can really punish him for not keeping one ready for escaping. He also has to stand still every time he uses a soldier's autoattack, and his W has a fairly short range (attack when he tries to put soldiers close to you without using Q).
  3. Outsustain. Azir has no built-in sustain. He can spam his W quite a bit, but if he's using his Q for poke/repositioning soldiers (before he gets a Chalice of Harmony— but even that isn't enough for him to really spam Q and W), he's going to run out of mana. If you have any way to poke him without getting outdamaged when he trades with you, he will run out of health relatively quickly, him being a squishy caster.

Open question: Does Randuin's Omen slow Azir's attack speed if he uses a soldier to hit a champion that has it? I don't think it should (soldier autoattacks are treated as spells), but I've never tested it.

Of the champions you listed I'd go with Zed.

simply stay away from the azir soldiers or play azir... You dont do ANY damage without the soldiers cast.

How to play against an* Azir?

Drogmyre4/22/2015, 12:48:26 PM1 votes

Simple: Don't stand in the Soldier areas, and beat the shit out of him.

When he Qs, dodge/reposition and continue mercilessly beating him to death.
