everybody complains about auto-fill, but there is a major bonus of it, which is kind of hidden

i realized it only very recently

it seems we are guaranteed to get our main role more often than our secondary role nowadays, even if your secondary role is support and your main role is mid

try it yourself, queueing mid/support you will not get mostly support, you will get mostly mid

Cool, to bad 2 people in your team got auto-filled and now are trolling the game and ruining your experience but hey, at least you got your role

I'm in this weird sport as a support main, where being a support primary isn't giving me support 90%+ of the time and is instead more like 70%. This is probably 'good', but I liked being all but being guaranteed my best role.

Still, this business of suggesting that rito might actually know what they're doing with autofill is probably asking for trouble considering all the threads that are "Disable autofill for X mode" "Whoever thought autofill was a good idea should be fired" etc.

Except I would rather play my secondary role 6 times than play my worst role once.

What people don't realize is that this is the ONLY benefit of autofill.

Whatever discrepancy in queue times it brings is negated by all of the dodges. And it's not like people want to wait 1-2 mins less to spend 20-50 mins in a role they don't want to play anyway.

I play secondary support in ranked and got it often.

Not that I really mind. I prefer having some control over the life of my ADC than an autofilled support.

I'd prefer to get my secondary than have me or someone else on my team play a role they're not able to.

I noticed this when I stopped queing Mid - Jg and started queing Mid - Sup. I expected to never get mid again, but I actually get it at least 50% of my games.

Queuing mid/supp, i get supp VERY often. I don't mind as long as the adc knows how to lane...

I run mid/support and i get support about 95% of the time.

I've noticed this too, but I'm not sure I like it. I'd rather get put in a secondary role that I declared than have some random person who may not even know how to play that role get auto-filled there (especially since people don't even seem to get that you can ask to trade someone in champ select).

Aviatinq12/25/2016, 3:28:37 AM1 votes

Yea you'll get mid because rito will throw a yasuo main autofilled support who doesn't buy sightstone, feeds, and bashes your team for being an autism.

I never had the issue of constantly getting my second roll before either. I queued mid/top and got mid probably 80+% of the time. Not sure how it was when queueing support secondary though.

AUTOFILL IS CANCER AND SHOULD BE REMOVED ASAP

Support secondary before meant you get support pretty much all the time.

Additional backstory: I used to be jg/sup in season 5 before new champion select (didn't have to learn other roles, since I'd state my preference for jg, not always get it, but if I'm willing to sup, I would get that 99% of the time if I explain I'm jg/sup and ont much else. Under old system everyone had to support occasionally due to last pick, but if you had jg/sup, or any 3 roles including sup, you could stay with those and be OK).

In Season 6 though, I couldn't be jg/sup if I wanted to jungle most of the time, so switched to jg/mid. Thus LOL lost one sometimes-support player, I am sure there were many others.

I've been practicing a bunch of support since the new system :). I might still remain jg/mid (since I learned to mid pretty well at that time), but I'm willing to swtich with autofills at support, since I don't mind supporting, and am OK at it.

Corollary: if you got autofilled, ask if anyone wants to trade! People often will, and if you add "it's OK if not", i don't think many will take it the wrong way.

As a support main, I view this detail with a bit of irony. I always queued sup secondary knowing I'd get it about 75% of the time. Now Sup secondary seems to get it about 20-30% of the time. :/ And yet, support primary only seems to be about 75% despite being near 100% before. Far as I know, just as many people hate support as before, based on all the queue dodges and role swaps.

It's a very odd time we play in.

Also a cool strategy to do is fill in a normal game then go into ranked with autofill protection. That was you dont have to beg someone for a different role because you never took the time to learn all of the aspects of the game that have most likely put in hundreds of hours playing....

This might not relate to your post, but i just recently queued for Top/JG and got supp. Now im pretty good at sup so i didnt feed. In fact i saved my teammates a lot (if i do say so myself). The problem is, i waited the exact same time it would have taken for me to get top, and it didnt help that the talon top fed the gragas 7 kills by 10 mins.
