Not realy. Early game they can be annoying, but they start to fall hard in lategame. Amumu, Sej and Garen will mince any mage in aram. Tank champs usualy fare great in ARAM due to the fact that they spike earlier (cheaper build). Some adc are also stronger than mages (cait, ashe), since they can poke as well as mages, the difference being they DO have a lategame. Sure, mages can poke you down, but they are soo slow taking down towers, that it will give you enough time to outscale them
