"I like arguing against quotes that nobody said ever"

"I'm going to paraphrase something in a way that is biased to my argument" - most threads "I'm going to selectively quote a rioter, leaving out all context, to farm anti riot upvotes" - the rest
yha i was anti riot for a long time and on some issues still am. I try to make sure that the rest of the anti riot guys don't completely do this...Of course I'll back them up if they paraphrased something correctly.
A while back riot stated plain and simple they would not nerf lee due to community backlash, and someone posted a paraphrase from (lyte perhaps i can't remember which rioter it was) when they ignored the community about the mord rework. a lot of people called bullshit without looking anything up till I stepped in and showed them a post from riot about it and then they all said this was a good way to describe the paragraph the rioter wrote.
TL:DR don't paraphrase just to meet your needs.
Don't most people who debate try to get their argument biased towards them? I mean most will give the benefit of the doubt too. The point of an argument is usually to persuade people in your opinion. I could be wrong though. That's usually what I try to do.
You can do so without distorting the truth. Here on the internet, someone will always b there to call u out on it.
I will agree I see a lot of people try to distort the truth, so it's only fair they get called out on it. This includes the community and Riot.
That's how arguments work in real life; you just need to convince someone through any means possible. But the "scholarly ideal" is touted as something that's scrutinized by a group of reputables in the field and still manages to convince them because the argument doesn't shy away from dissent.

What the fuck?
I know right, it was Newton who said that.

No truer words have ever been said before.
Aww :'(
Good ol' Alby
Classic Albert.
what if this quote is one of those?
It's supposed to be an ironic thread.
It's supposed to be an ironic reply.
Lolz
I've been out-ironized?!? GASP!
As a great man Albert Einstein once said
"yes"
I would be hard pressed to find evidence against that

He says, while being one.
The Joke
Your head.
Nah.
This is what's known as a "Strawman Argument." People set up an intentionally flawed opposition, and then deconstruct it to look smart.
yea i had a debate with someone and they wanted to "quote" then take what i said out of context. I'm like bro, at least paraphrase a couple of sentences instead of trying to break apart one sentence despite all of the other factual information provided. Guess he wasn't getting enough
As Gentlemen Cho'gath said, Up you go!
Argues against something easy to hate, uses quotes that didn't happen... Yeah, seems like an upvote whore thread.
