(Poll) Has the current state of the game had an impact on the time you spend on League?

It'd be nice if we could get as many votes as possible, as I've seen a lot of players saying that they're quitting. I actually want to see how many of you guys have started playing less since the end of pre-season.

Read this after you've voted for an un-biased result: Personally I feel like I haven't had the same urge to play a as I've had during season 6 and 7. However, maybe it's because i started playing at the start of season 6. Either way, I kinda prefer the slower paste games rather then the current "You died once early and now we're going to stomp for 15 min til we 5-man your nexus with herald" gameplay. This is all my personal experience and I really wish I was on the same page as Riot when it comes to their development decisions. It will be a long time before I stop playing for good, yet I've found the current state of the game less enjoyable compared to my previous experience.

I don't see the point of playing beyond the first win of the day because without gaining blue essence I don't feel rewarded. I have to go through an entire level before gaining BE, and even then it frustrates me because I will most likely get a Ryze Poppy Warwick Chogath shard which I already own.

I used to love this game more than any other I have ever played. In some ways, the game itself, is still a well designed work of art... however, needless complexity, change-for-the-sake-of-change type of updates and a hideously rancid community have taken the bloom off of the rose.

I still play, but probably only about 25% as much as I used to, and that is eroding moreso every day.

For me, I started to feel less passionately about League in Season 5. The Juggernaut update was a foreshadowing of the direction that the balance team wanted to take this game, but I thought maybe they would learn from these mistakes and make wiser decisions going forward. With a few exceptions, their continues updates and gameplay overhauls were further stunting my enjoyment of the game. The ADC update was an unmitigated disaster---so much so that Riot reverted one of the champions they changed (Kog'Maw) entirely! Then the assassin update came and I started to really lose interest after Kat and especially LeBlanc were marginalized substantially. I didn't even play LeBlanc much, and I was still outraged (this is how I felt about what they did to Morde also... I wasn't a Morde main, but I enjoyed a few Morde games now and then and he was forever ruined in my eyes). Don't bother arguing with me about Kat, either, I won't read it and I don't care what your opinion is... I hated the changes, period.

Every single champion has to have a gimmick, a three-hit passive, a do-this-to-do-that-to-do-this type of nonsense. Not every champion has to be overly complicated. This is a leisure time activity for the overwhelming majority of us, we don't need patch notes that read like a nuclear physics course, we don't need additional mechanics that add artificial power to the game (such as infernal drake).

I guess the biggest change or evolution in this game that has caused me to lose interest rapidly is damage creep. Damage has been, and continues to be, way too high across the board---with only a few exceptions... and mitigation options are far too few and far between. AD champions seem to have even more damage options then their AP counterparts and that should be addressed as well. I thought Runes Reforged would do that, but in many cases it just added damage to the game.

I'm not even angry about it, just kind of left feeling a bit sad about a game I once would rush home to play has become this sad shadow of it's former self.

The fact that Riot doesn't really listen to the playerbase or respond to posts such as those that I (and many others) have made through the years about the topics I mentioned above---or even in the rare cases they do respond they pretty much just tell you to 'deal with it'---has really soured me on the game further. Like a down-hearted husband who just can't bring himself to sign the divorce papers in the hopes that the wife will just try to turn it around... I sit here and still login, but it's really tough.

The amount of cancer champs in the game, and the fact that CertainlyT hasn't been fired/publicly executed yet is what drives this. Imagine playing against any one of these champions: Ashe DrMundo Vayne Zoe Yasuo Katarina Zed Ezreal Twitch TwistedFate Tryndamere Ornn Zoe Yasuo Zoe Yasuo Zoe Yasuo Zoe Yasuo Zoe Yasuo Zoe Yasuo Pantheon Gangplank Anivia Fizz I'm not saying these champions are easy to play by any means, but the fact that Riot thinks it's ok to let a champion be like this even though only 1 person is having fun, just boggles my mind. Takes these for example: Rumble Ivern Nami Elise Lucian If they mess something up, you can see that, and you can abuse that, they have weak points. At what point does Yasuo have a weak point?

After he wastes W! What if I'm melee though?

When his Ultimate isn't up! His Ultimate has a very short cool down, and he still does more damage with his Q than he does with his ult.

When he misses his tornado! Nope. Lategame it's back up in 3 seconds.

At what point, do these champions have weak points? You either beg for your jungler to camp them for you, or you lose.

I haven't logged in since a few days into Jan.

And with the recent changes to Support Items, I have zero interest in playing anytime soon too.

I'll probably update and play some when OFA actually comes back, but I definitely won't be staying after unless Riot gets around to actually fixing the colossal screw up known as LoL Game Balance in a noticeable way. I'm a Support Main, and I'm tired of watching Marksmen run everyone else's items into the ground while they have the best options in the game.

I've moved completely on to Overwatch at this point. The game just isn't fun to me as a casual player anymore.

Yasuo Katarina Vladimir Twitch KogMaw Lulu Janna Vayne Tristana and premades put me off.

i am fine with champs like Riven Zed cause they arent disgusting DPS champs and require maining to have success with

I'll never stop playing League, no matter how much Riot fucks up but I've been playing a lot less lately

Legacy Hydralpha2/3/2018, 11:06:58 PM4 votes

I've found myself playing far less League than I once did. When my primary role (support) stopped feeling fun to me, for changes unrelated to patches (I just got bored), I played more of my secondary role top. While I enjoy top lane, it feels a lot worse. Regardless of what I do, I have little impact on the game because their ADC can just stand still and get tons of heals and shields so even if I dive them with my entire team they might as well get a penta.

And the direction Riot has taken in balancing and growing their game is terrible IMO. With very questionable balance decisions such as nerfing Ezreal and Klepto in the same patch to not actually nerfing Ornn or Zoe's damage output and instead making them less fun, it feels like a bronze Vayne main could make less risky and more intelligent decisions. And where the hell are the fighter changes? All we've been given is promises and "soon"s and not a single fix in sight after the change to how targeted spells work. Making bruisers better? Nothing. New fighter keystone? Not a sight, only promises of "it's a good fighter keystone". Word on the tons of shields and heals in bot lane for ADCs and supports? No one knows.

At least I'm enjoying Overwatch again, so I have an alternative.

I haven't logged on for at least a month now. I don't know if its the current state, but I know the fact Monster Hunter World just came out isn't going to make me want to jump on any time soon. Also doesn't help when Riot keeps your hopes up for your main to be updated then goes silent for months on end, but I think that might be another thing entirely.

i'm both yes and am taking a long break I love league, have been playing for 4 years, preseason came and increased my ping by 15 without ever going back ( i changed nothing on my end, i guess i jusy have to accept the fact that my ping will always be 50+ from now on) Everything does too much damage imo and games are determined way too quickly and are way too short which honestly isn't as fun as it used to. for a while my only motivation was the 1st win of the day (started to play one to 2 games a day instead of 4+), events and gamemodes.

Season 8 hit and i had a new motivation to play again, chests. But decided to quit because it felt like it wasn't worth my time anymore for mere cosmetics especially when i got a ward skin from getting my 1st S+ on Kindred this season. And the games feeling too stressful and not enjoyable made me want to take a long break from this game.

I will come back once the state of the game changes or if i find the motivation to (like some kind of amazing champ that i feel like i have to play asap or sth.)

(Edit: also trashu ois still overloaded and haven't been touched, instead o fixing him they froze the soft rework on him, created Zoe so that people would distribute the hate between the 2 and shift focus which is fked up and a coward move imo. Ive got sick of banning him in my games and hearing him say "no cure for fools" for months now, might be another reason im taking a break)

ModWulf Helhammer2/3/2018, 4:29:12 PM2 votes

I've played less because I don't have as much time to play due to work and college, but not because of the game state.

Winterkill2/3/2018, 5:28:40 PM2 votes

Yeah. I barely play now. It's just not fun anymore. The biggest thing for me is how much they ignore and don't work on in the game. There are champions ignored every year for skins, balance, reworks and vgu. I have just come to the point that I no longer care. These Developers don't. I can see they are trying but it isn't enough.

Athenes Lulu2/4/2018, 10:01:59 AM1 votes

Ever since Lulu became pick/ban almost a year ago, I gave up playing as actively. Might be a bit personal since it's just a specific champion, but a series of unfortunate events followed afterwards. And I mean, "meta or troll" (and nowhere in between) kinds of games I've witnessed even in low elo, like Lethality and Ardent Cancer.

Nowadays I'm having a blast playing MMOs, and it's been almost a month since my last game of League. At least I get to have laughs when we don't play well, despite witnessing different kinds of salt.

Of course, we all know one does not simply "quit League". But me being not as active? Oh, definitely.

ive been straying away a bit, mainly from buying rp since i dont play any champs a bunch anymore and cant even play my main at this point, if anything its more of a addiction as i only REALLY play because i feel the need to despite only being disappointed in every game win or lose

GigglesO2/4/2018, 3:16:23 AM1 votes

I play wayyy less often, even though I literally have the same amount of time in each day. I also sleep better at night rather than staying up randomly at night.

stone the blacks2/4/2018, 3:41:23 AM1 votes

i cannot play in this current meta of only ever buff damage and make game decided faster with less and less of chance of comeback and on top that they give 1/3 of the runes to marksmen when they are ~10% of the roster and fighter most of the roster got no keystones they give blatant favoritism to bot lane which is ruining the game, bot lane will be open up when marksmen are put into niche rolls and cant just slightly change their build and right click only to burst, shred, kite, etc, they should be forced to 2 1 or maybe roles of :tank shred, aoe team figh, rampping damage, burst, duel, kite, picks, early game, hyper carry,

Vistha D Reptile2/4/2018, 9:51:43 AM1 votes

Over the course of last two Seasons I went from playing as often as 5-10 games every day to one game every 5-10 days.

Doing placements for Solo Queue took me 2 months.

Lately I've become so frustrated I updated For Honor and started playing that instead, and despite a lot of bullshit in that game (and the fact my main***** basically doesn't have "abilities") it's still infinitely times better than League. I'm only coming to the Boards, because I couldn't be assed to find a new forum to attend to.

* - As somebody perfectly put it:

Have you ever seen a Kensei mirrormatch? They basically wiggle their arms around until they hurt themselves by accident.. quite a sight to behold.

Sasogwa2/4/2018, 10:00:19 AM1 votes

I have almost not played on my main, but mostly on smurfs.. Because toplane is unintersting garbage nowadays at decent elo. And i've even had a hard time carrying in low elo when it was desperately easy before, since top is so bad and botlane is too strong.
