Pantheon rework idea

Hi, yesterday I lied down on my bed and thought: "How would I rework Pantheon?" This is what I came with:

#Goals:

  • Not to make him mechanically way too difficult, but make him able to express some skill.
  • Make his gameplay more interactive for both Pantheon and his opponent.
  • Not to overload his kit, only modernize the similar way Warwick's is.

#Changes: Passive: Aegis Protection Pantheons basic attacks add stacks to Aegis Protection (secondary resource bar, similar to Annie). At 6 stacks, Pantheon gains Aegis Protection buff that lasts 3 seconds.

Aegis Protection buff: Pantheon gains 30% movement speed buff that decays over 1.5 seconds. Next basic attack that lands on him is reflected to the attacker, dealing it's full damage and applying all it's effects (damage is reduced by Pantheon's resistances).

Q: Spear shot Passive: Spear hurled by Pantheon stays on the ground slightly behind it's target. Until Pantheon picks it up, he's forced to use his sword and his basic attacks' range is reduced (155 -> 140 - base range is buffed for that matter) and E: Heartseeker's Strike is replaced with E: Hera's Strike.

Active: Pantheon hurls his spear at the targted enemy (0.5 seconds cast time), dealing [damage]. Can critically strike for 50% bonus damage. Although this spell is targeted, in can be doged with a mobility spell or a very good reaction, similar way Fizz's Q or Lucian's Q work. Cooldown: 4 (or until the spear is picked)

W: Aegis of Zeonia Pantheon dashes to a targeted enemy or his spear dealing [damage] and stuns all targets at the targeted location in a very small area (~200 units) for 0.8 seconds and activating Aegis Protection buff.

E: Heartseeker's Strike/Hera's Strike Heartseeker's Strike (using spear): Pantheon channels for 0.75 seconds, dealing [damage] to all enemies in a cone in front of him (reduced to 60% against non-champions) at 0.25 seconds intervals.

Hera's Strike (using sword): Resets Pantheon's basic attack timer and next basic attack cleaves in 180° in front of him, dealing 40% damage to all enemies struck (including the basic attack target). Cooldown: 5 seconds Cost: 25 mana

R: Grand Skyfall Passive: Adele sings in the background.

Active: No changes, except: Pantheon gains 40% bonus movement speed for 2 seconds when facing an enemy hit by the Grand Skyfall.

#Commentary: I redistributed Pantheon's powerbudget, added counterplay and outplay potential to his kit and then buffed undewhelming parts of it which I got access to through my previous actions. I focused on toning down his lane bully playstyle which is very frustrating (targeted damage with low cost and cooldown without turning it into skillshots entirely to preserve his low skillfloor and reliability and avoid giving him an escape), while buffing his teamfight potential, giving him the strength on being able to effectively split the enemy team (through R and W). Also now he can use combos depending on an enemy positioning (W-E-Q-E/Q-W-E-wait-Q-E) and has clear windows of power (going for a trade with 5 stacks of passive or spear in your hand). I hope you like it, suggestions welcomed.

Why is no one commenting about Adele lol

so his q is basically a targeted olaf q that does more damage but doesn't slow

...and does not hit all targets and has lower range and does not refund CD when picked but enables him to use the spell again and switches between Es and stays forever until picked.

If this was meant in an offensive and sarcasting way, then: And Brand's W is differently shaped Zyra's Q and Lux's Q is duo target Morgana's Q and Xerath's Q is AP Varus' Q...

zyras q was basically the same thing as brand w before the rw just worked different with their kits

I have a friend that plays almost exlusively pantheon. We talked about the champ a bunch and we always agreed the only thing panth really needs is a QoL change to his ult to give him more control over it and prevent people from just walking out of it late game.

Taking away a lot of what he currently has actually ruins the character for a lot of people. His lane bully can be countered by itemization and play style. I mean if we really aren't ok with lane bullies than there are just as many other problematic champs as panth.

The targeted stuff needs to stay. It is one of the only mechanics that counters high mobility champs. In fact we need more champs with targeted skills not less.

One question: How do you counterbuild someone, who's biggest strength is that he doesn't let you farm so you cannot buy items?

His kit is still targeted, how often can you see someone dodging Lucians or Fizz's Q? And Pantheon is lanebullying immobile champions (or those with conditional mobility) 90% of the time, others don't go toplane. Plus he's getting another mobility to keep up with them.

Armor and regen. When you force out all his mana and you still have 75% life he probably isn't going to wanna duel you. There are also matchups that favor the opponent if they build right and put panth at a disadvantage.

And how do you get armor and regen, when you don't have gold? And if you do have some, he's already malting you with Youmuu's and BC's Lethality, because he's got triple yours.

He won't have gold at the start of the game. Corrupted pot gives no stats just regen. So if you weather the storm spears and force him to back a lot while playing a champ like renekton who won't have to back as often you're better off. Plus now that void herald is so strong it isn't as bad for your jungle to come up and help you. Panth isn't too amazing vs a good gank.

Ultimately you just gotta stay even with him. If you stall him out early and progress the game to roaming and team fights his strengths fall off a lot. Especially if you just durdled him in lane. Plus if he takes longer to get his youmus or goes mostly damage for first items he is actually really squishy.

Its all about those runes, masteries, and first buys to offset his lane power. Thats the same for a lot of champs.
