I'm tired of Ranked.

With the new season started up and being put in the depths of the trenches, I've done all I could to try and get out after 20 games. I sit at a 9-11 ratio, which I swear I'm going to see nothing but idiots spamming "THEN THAT'S WHERE YOU BELONG" because of the ratio, but it's more the fact that no one is interested in working together or listening. It's impossible to carry games with my normal champions because of how absurd the other more mainstream champions have become, or otherwise my favorites are outdated.

My history is full of games I carried because I had the luck to get people to listen to me, but the losses, you can see, are full of really bad players who didn't work with the team, or didn't seem to care they were dragging down 4 other people with their bad decision making and lack of care that the game was even happening.

All I've wanted over the last few days of grinding, has been to get the heck back up to gold/plat where I've had my account for several seasons. Instead my rank is pushed way down in the trench with no hope of escape, toxic teams that throw reports almost as much as they throw tantrums, and people who decide to just feed because they want to fight a 3v1 then complain in all chat about the jungler being bad.

Riot you really messed this season up, and I really wish you'd take the time to balance your game. There is so much ridiculous things in this game and it's really not fun to play anymore. I'm being ranked based on how well I can carry a game, not how well I can actually play it. It's not fair, and I will never advance no matter how much I grind because I never get the people that I should be matched with that show the same kind of drive and teamwork that it takes to win. I get 4 squishy pickers who whine that I didn't pick a tank when I first picked my jungler or middle lane.

Well 1st off did you link the right account? You say that your account has been Gold/Plat for several years. But your account hasnt been Gold since season 5 and you only played 1 ranked game in season 8. At least according to op.gg

But with that said.....

Ignore those type of people that just look at wins and losses.. People look at your wins and losses and just that. They dont even know or even care to know about whether you had a afk, people arguing all game ( not including you, just other people) , or a game where you started off good but then that 1 fed champ thats 8 - 0 at 9 minutes shows up in your lane and just snowballs the other lanes for them. I mean its possible to start off 3 - 0 and end up 4 - 16 if you start getting wrecked by other lanes that got out of hand once lane phase ends. But some people will just look a the final stat and just reply negative about it.

And yeah, you could say well this happens to everybody.....but we all know it happens more in low elo and when it happens 2 or 3 game sin a row it can completely mess up your day...even if you take a break its not the same.

Oh and cant forget the fact that Riot has now gave filled players / off role players a EXCUSE to not even care or try to win when filled or off rolled. Positional Ranking is a excuse to not care/try , not a fix.

That is the correct account, and I have not played much since season 5. I messed with ranked here and there in 6 and 7 but I mainly play Dota 2.

Currently Dota 2 is having queue timer problems and everyone is reset and needs to re-calibrate for the new season, but doesn't want to.

Oh...well since you havnt played in awhile u got some catching up to do.....its completely different now..and not in a good way. If you didint climb early soon as this season started its going to be really hard now. For this season you had to go on large win streaks right out the gate in order to see real gains........1 promo loss or back to back losses after placements and u are seeing 15, 16 LP

You really won't like this answer but that's how this game, actually every objective oriented game with teammates, works. I hate matchmaking with a passion, I am done every season with the same bs like everyone else but I can't blame the game too much. I reached plat for several seasons now and I can assure you that I forced almost every win I had on my main champions.

I kept a 60% winrate on Riven while struggling to win every single game from silver (placements) to plat 5 (now you can say Riven is busted but doesn't matter to me as long as I win). Every single season. Yet, it is possible to climb. It was so bad, that I never understood the "games go only for 20 minutes" mentality on these boards, simply because I forced the games to go to minute 40 or even 50 several times. Forcing comebacks on my own, trying to 1vs5 badly. The worst part of such a grind is losing a 50min game in which you played solo against everyone. At the same time its insanely satisfying getting 4 honors for carrying solo.

BUT it is possible to climb even if it means destroying your nerves

You've only played 27 games my dude. If you are gold/plat, you'll get there. You also seem to die a lot in your games though, you average 7+ deaths per game, which probably isn't helping. Good luck if you decide to keep going. :)

That's like the previous poster said though; A lot of the games where I have high deaths I also had a good streak, then the game just fell apart and I kept dying trying to kill carries or protect mine. It's a symptom, not the cause.

Unpopular opinion but: Ranked is just for fun.

Seriously, what do you gain? A virtual emblem. Maybe a skin and a t-shirt. If you're serious about League, go scrim...

Otherwise, ranked is just a way to play for keeps, a way to measure some level of improvement-- but it is not serious; there is nothing on the line you won't be famous for getting to diamond or even challenger (look at the bottom of twitch and you'll find a few challengers with 2 viewers).

That's all I got to say. Hopefully somebody takes heed and stops taking ranked so serious. If it's not fun don't bother.

Not that you shouldn't in all games, but you can't say "lmao ranked isn't serious" and have that attitude. Literally playing because currently Dota is eff'd and sometimes I do get good games here.

More often then not though it's just a joke and one teamfight ends the game. The map is too small and towers are made of paper. Everyone does too much damage, and the game isn't fun when you just get deleted.

Also lately there has been absurd packet loss and it's ruined 3 of my games.

I play pretty seriously, but I don't take ranked seriously. As in I play seriously but I play for fun... Make sense? I hope so.

If I pick ARAM- I expect no one to run into towers over and over but its the least "demanding" of the modes and most casual If I pick blind- I don't expect anything but the most casual of casual (and petty) solo games If I pick norms- Its pretty much the same as blind but with the banning phase. People even get mad when you ask for help or ask for team work. You get flamed just like blind.

So Rank is all that is left for anyone who wants to have "a good game"-- or rather one with an attempt at teamwork Rank is the one mode where the point is take it serious---- if you don't really care about where you are on the ladder (as a concept) its not meant for you. If you don't really care because its quality has gone to crap and you don't expect an improvement-- I understand.

I think you miss the point of what I'm saying.

I do think role queue is anti-fun, and it is in a bad state. I play ranked to have fun. Ranked is "hard mode" in League. Ever played hard mode in a game? Anyway, so posistion queue is due to taking this all too seriously, as if it's so important to protect the integrity or differing skill levels in roles. ..

Maybe you can see my point if I explain it that way, but what I'm really saying is if ranked isn't fun for you, don't play ranked - because you gain nothing of great importance. If you really wanted to be very serious about the game (make this your life, or make money); then you should play scrims and try and go pro, or else be a clown streamer with 500+ viewers.

It used to be hard mode--- but the community has become so unwilling to 'try' on hard mode, or any mode above 'ez' for that matter, its ruining the fun of alllll modes.

Rank is just the last line of defense of "difficulty integrity". You need to have four other teammates and 5 enemies who are willing to play the game through in order to have "a game".

People are getting pissed because we can barely have "a game" that doesn't feel like a flat waste of time. Its not all about climbing.

Where we disagree I think is you see the decline is from people taking it too seriously, when I see it more to do with how Riot changed the environment we play in outside of just balance factors

There's barely any real enforcement of playing the game through honestly (not talking leaverbuster). The boards and reddit and youtube all echo how matchmaking quality is declining

You may not be able to care/understand because your standard is scrims right? - I get that. I don't know about the rest of the community but I myself don't know enough people to make those. My friends list dried up in the past 2 seasons as trolling increased. I stopped measuring my own skill by solo/duo ranking a long time ago (because you are right too)

All that said- add me if you have scrim groups that sounds more fun than what Riot has pre-constructed

Hate to break it to you but this game does not reward you for doing "well". If you wanna climb reliably in league of legends you gotta stomp. You have to put so much pressure on the enemy team that your shit team doesn't have the chance to throw, anything short of this and you're really just rolling the dice every game you go into. Also what you did in season 5 is irrelevant, completely different game from current league, and the skill levels of elos have changed dramatically since then as well. If you were an actual plat player you would not have an issue with popping off in just about every game in bronze, so if that's your end goal, I wouldn't worry at all about current rank, and would worry more about improving.

There's also the mental endurance test to consider, failing during your first 30 games doesn't doom you for a season. Sometimes you just gotta take the hits and keep moving if what you want is to rank up.

Perfect example of why it's never going to get better. We had an int'ing Diana and for some reason giving bot lane an early gank didn't snowball them. Really if you look at the gold, you can see our team was just... Complete garbage. I'm not dissing anyone in particular but we had no reason to have feeding of this magnitude and everyone sucked at farming.

And of course Udyr is probably smurfing so he was trash talking in all chat most of the game. I hate picking really slow low-impact junglers like Nautilus but when our team decides "Hey, we're gonna pick worthless squishies after Darius + Leona" I start wondering if it's worth it to dodge more games.
