Is Ziggs viable top lane?

See the title. His utility isn't great and he really only has a slight slow and the satchel charge if he gets ganked. The biggest problems I see are: you're not gonna get blue buff (I guess you could steal enemy blue w/ ult if you're red side), if you're pushing you want to use your slow to help clear and you're gonna be pushed up so you're easier to gank and don't have slow, and to a small degree it hurts to not have as many options w/ your ult (you can ult your lane or mid pretty easy, but mid you can ult all 3 lanes).

Does anyone have success (like up to gold+ can still do it) with Ziggs top in ranked and is there any thing you should know if you're gonna try it? I'm looking for a champ that can play both mid and top that I can alternate with the heimer I've been playing and Ziggs seems like a decent option if he could play top. (Picked up kennen to try and play mid/top with, but he's really different from heim who pushes great and pokes well but is squishy if caught out and thus all about positioning where you can't get caught easily or they have to take a bunch of damage to catch you)
