Braum and his ability to W over Walls

*TL;DR at bottom

Hey there! Im Mellophant, and i mainly play the support role. my favorite champ to date? Braum. As someone who likes to focus on one champ at a time and get to know them as best as possible, I came across a few things i didn't like about Braum. most, i had gotten over, but one thing still sticks out to me.

i had a lot of problems with his W, specifically, the conditions required for Braum to properly execute his W.

Now, before we get into it, I just want to say, hey, maybe im crazy and im just that bad at Braum, that i cant execute his abilities properly. But something is telling me im not the only one with this problem...

I found myself getting talked down to, by my teams, VERY often, when we're in the jungle, my team mate is being chased, and im on the other side of a wall. There's a split second where i have to make a decision. keep running and stay alive, or go in and risk it to save the ally, and maybe get a kill out of it. 9/10 i want to chose the second option.... but i cant.

Braum has a very decent sized range on his W. its perfect. Riot, dont change it. Yet for some reason, it always seems as if my allies arent close enough. I see they're in range, i go to W (this is specifically with a wall between us) and i cant. And it blows my mind.

almost every champion in the game has abilities that they can use through walls. Champions like Lee Sin or Leblanc can do some pretty sweet tricks through walls. But Braum can't jump over them? Or... Can he?

When attempting a steal on Dragon, we get a very mobile champ in the pit, up against the wall, and from the outside jungle (by red camp) i can W to an ally, E, and then Q, AA, to shield the ally, or sometimes even the dragon from enemies, while helping take the dragon down. When running on the path between the Birds and River, i can W to allies. At either Teams' home bases, if an ally is on the opposite side, i can W to them. What I noticed? we have to both be practically hugging the walls. thats just impractical in most situations and almost never happens. (i also have some Failed Flashes because i was apparently not close enough to the walls, but back on topic...) Usually I'm yelling- through skype, at my team mate to get closer to the wall. Even though they ARE in range of my W, they dont get close enough/ dont do it fast enough, and then too much time has been wasted.

Riot, Im asking for some help here... can we get some insight as to whats happening? Did you intend for Braum to be able to jump over all walls? Some walls? No walls at all?!?!? And if I may, I would love to request that Braums W enables him to jump over anything, as long as an ally or minion is within range. And i mean, as soon as they're in that circle and i press W to them, I dont want Braum to take 3 more steps and THEN jump (because the game thinks they arent in range), but rather, he jumps when i say jump.

*to clarify on "jumping over anything" lets say, over any flashable walls. If you can flash through that wall, you should be able to W to an ally, so long as they are in range.

Aside from fixing this issue with him not exactly being able to jump in some cases, May i make another suggestion? Ward Jumping. I dont play Lee Sin. I have never played him, and probably dont ever think I will. I dont meet the skill level to play him properly, I dont play those types of champs. It doesn't interest me. But what does catch my attention is how the seemingly blind man can place a ward and then jump to it, yet the perfectly able Strong Man with two working eyes cant.

Ward Jumping only makes perfect sense for Braum. He can jump to allied champs, he can jump to allied minions. As a champion specifically made for the Support role- a role which synonymous with the idea that these champions MUST carry wards AT ALL TIMES, why does Braum- a champion with the ability to jump to things- not utilize Ward Jumping? Braum is the Meat Shield. He carries a magical unbreakable door that he uses as a shield! His sole purpose it to literally shield his allies! How can Braum shield his allies if he cant either A. jump over a wall properly to his allies, or B. jump over a wall to a ward, to then run over to an ally!?!?

Riot, If any of you read this, can i get some feedback on the situation? Can we maybe get some word to some higher ups? Braum players, can I get your feedback as well? Theres no way I'm alone here!

Thanks a ton for reading, everyone!

TL;DR can we get braums W fixed to jump over walls more accurately (its not always possible to jump to an ally in range) can we also look into the ability to Ward Jump, like Lee Sin

Imagine if Braum could use his W on wards

He would be like, the Lee Sin of the bot lane, aka Thresh.

what if Braum could W to Poros on HA?

You mean give him something that Thresh isn't able to do? Riot would never allow that :^)

I like the idea, though; he can use W to minions already, I don't think letting him ward-hop would break him.

Braum's jump has a very short range, and you have to be able to fully click the ally on the other side of the wall, unlike straight dashes that you can function if you just end up on the other side very slightly. So, wall jumping wasn't really intended. The range is just barely long enough for it to be possible, but it's quite restrictive on anything but the smallest walls.

The reason to not utilize ward jumping is that it gives a lot of easy mobility to a champion who doesn't need it. He doesn't need to have that easy of an escape. It would also allow him to ward-jump into the enemy team when he wants to initiate, and jumping in like that is something his kit currently doesn't allow for. It gives him a lot of options that he just doesn't need to have.

If you need a thematic reason, then Braum jumps to shield his allies, not just to get around to places. A man only jumps when he needs to protect something.

As a Braum fan, no, don't let him jump to wards. That kind of mobility on a tank-cc-machine-support would break him and force heavy nerfs on his kit. It would make it way too easy to cc-lock a target of choice or land his [usually dodgeable] ult with little chance of retaliation. Except to just stand back farther. Which is a stupid easy way to zone people out with zero effort.

And his jump most likely functions as a dash, so it should only work on thin walls. So yeah, you both have to be really close to use it properly. Working as intended imo, but more consistency is always good (at least with range indicators).

For walls, just think of Riven. She has a wall jumping dash, but it doesn't go over every wall..or many.

Then you have reksai, who can seem to who over (...under) just about ANY length of terrain.

Braums seems to be a little less than flash, so even some walls you can flash over, Braum can't w :(

Also, not sure on this, but it would explain the taking 3 steps. The range on some abilities is weird, you may have to have their hitbox completely in your circle of range before you can w. Then there's abilities where hitboxes don't even seem to need to overlap, just the edges touch (blitz grab/thresh hook), or maybe their hitboxes are just really whack compared to the animation.

It has to do with pathing. Free-targeted dashes (such as LeBlanc) and super long-range targeted dashes (Lee Sin W) don't have so much of a problem with it, but basically, if League's autopathing decides you aren't close enough to target someone over a wall, it goes ahead and starts moving you around it.
