Why am I so bad with my main in ranked?

I'm a pantheon main atleast I like to consider it. I mostly play him top but do play jungle and have dabbled in panth mid. I dominate with him. Most games going overwhemingly positive and a few I even carried. I've sunk litteral hundreds of hours into learning his combos, cooldowns and ranges. I can recite his abilities off heart. yet The MOMENT I enter ranked with him. I turn into complete shit. Like I play almost as bad as when I first started league a little under a year ago. I have other champs I do well with in ranked leona, Gnar and a couple others. But the moment I play pantheon I fall face first and get dominated by litterally anyone. Does anyone else have this problem?

Lets talk about this rank match

http://matchhistory.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/#match-details/NA1/2110990627/230648030?tab=builds

I am not even sure what you are thinking with the runes and masteries you have selected. You took AR quints, splitting masteries 3/5, and you are taking panth with a full team of AD.

Statistically you are taking a shit or a sub optimal setup.

Now lets take this game

http://matchhistory.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/#match-details/NA1/2102517757/230648030

You are against another magic damage top, and again you rush the Ghostblade. same exact setup....

another bad score line

Summary of your problems.

You do not know how to adjust builds and plan for what you are facing. Your game understanding is weak and fall into habit playing instead of understating what is going on.

I am not going to bother with trying to correct everything, it is just way to much. But here is a tip, when you are playing Panth against an magic damage laner, build hex drinker into MAW. It has pen, mr, and AD.

I think playing a lot of league doesn't make you a main. I think what makes someone had a main is when you're flexible enough with that champ that you can win pretty much any match up. And if that isn't the case then you're still working your way up to main status.

Someone mentioned earlier your builds are not flexible you should try adjusting that. Assuming you have the mechanics you should be able to dominate even if you do full tank panth. Just keep an open mind if you want to main a champion cause you're not always going to get favorable match ups.

1-Possible Anxiety

2-You are faceing against people who do not suck, big difference between normals and ranked, people actually give a fuck

2.5-Since they give a fuck you will be faceing people who know how to deal with Pantheon

3-You are playing a early/mid game champion, you want to end games fast and try not to let them drag out to long, Pantheon is good at abuseing the lane phase with his opressive skills that can't be dodged, and his global ult that can assist lanes which makes him a person who can rek other lanes and his own at the same time, abuse that, and force leads.

People play alot harder in ranked than in normals (despite what it might seem like sometimes)

just keep practicing in ranked, the better people you play vs the better you'll get

You have ranked anxiety You think about the game to much when you play ranked. When your in a norms your trying to just have fun and not thinking or overthinking everything but in ranked you are literally over thinking every at. It happens.

I loggined in to tell you, I got same problems im 70k+ on vayne doing good after ranked bad score and play, I think it not about my stress but the team compassion and help, junglers are completly useless never ganks and even though they tank they steal kills, LOOK AT ONE OF MY GAMES WHEN I HAD MUNDO IN TEAM HE STOLE ME(Toplane vayne) AND ADC's KILLS. We useless without communication friendship and love.

What we all need is to focus help and agree with smile, I hate these people who get fed then blame teamates or teamates who argue with team, I started to report alot lately because of this attitude that annoys me, we cannot live in world without peace , when will they adore us?

I hope you all get luck in your future games :D goodbye summoners! -teemo main here

Generally Rank is a whole different area you have to face. When playing norms in this game anything can happen but a lot of people are either trying to make themselves feel better by wrecking someone or (most of the time ) trying a new champ out. Now when it comes to rank. Specially the popularity of the game now. Everyone is going to pick usually who they know for a fact they can wreck with. General almost every champ is Op. Just depends on how you play them and how well you know to use the character against counters or people who are playing there mains and have already learned to face a "Pantheon " in game

800k+ on Azir and I still have this problem at times, so don't feel bad. (Not a typo. 849,000 mastery points. I have no life.) The problem may have many origins, but the main ones are generally a combination of the following:

  • You're against people who main those champions and they're simply better at their's that you at your's. It happens. Don't let it get you down.

  • You don't have a full grasp on game mechanics relative to the people you're playing against. This can be both beneficial and detrimental to the learning process as, while it's good to get completely facerolled once in a while to maybe notice what you're doing wrong a little more, it definitely hurts the morale to get stomped repeatedly.

  • Nervousness. It happens to everyone whether they realize it or not. Especially when in a series where their potential rank up is on the line. Some people just handle it better than others.

Overall, try to focus more on game mechanics. Playing other roles helps this significantly. I couldn't gank, roam, or even follow a roam until I started playing a lot in the jungle. I also had no idea what my job really was as a tank and/or support until I started doing it. ADC came rather naturally since I've always mained DPS-oriented hypercarries before even attempting to play a marksman. (Cassiopeia before I realized that she was rather shitty compared to Azir when both are mastered at an equal skill level i.e. Someone who carries games repeatedly as Cass will generally get outclassed by a similarly played Azir in every way)

Chances are you're getting matched up with much stiffer competition in your ranked games and people are only playing their best champions in ranked. It's not that you are playing worse in ranked, it's that everyone else is playing better.

I'd recommend watching your replays. You can either record yourself playing using a program like OBS or you can download a replay program like SkinSpotlights Replay. That should allow you to identify the mistakes you are making in ranked.

Your "I wanna bake" mastery page is a weird one for a Panth. He is all about kill potential, why not go for thunderlords?
