How long have you been playing League of Legends for?

TouchpadExpert··3 votes·1,157 views

Just a simple poll to get a feel for when most people started their League of Legends experience.

Edit: If you joined in the preseason you attribute your start date to that season. So anyone who joined in preseason 3 you joined in preseason 3. Anyone who joined in a post season you round up. If you joined in postseason 3 you enter your start date as season 4.

I started playing League at the end of season 3, slighty after Aatrox was released, slighty before Lucian was released and Master Yi got reworked.

It was a good time, it is a shame that I didn't had the experience needed to fully enjoy League at that time, for a number of reasons:

  • Khazix was a much stronger option for laning. In addition he was much more rewarding than he is now. He has been nerfed so much times that I feel that the only reason why he still seems to be strong for me is because I mastered him. But he doesn't feel nearly as rewarding as in the past and he needs changes.
  • Fiddlesticks also received a number of nerfs and now he feels like he is not viable on any lane. He used to be viable at jungle, mid, and support. But now he has serious problems being used on the first two, and is outclassed on the latter.
  • Unlimited wards. I must have been the only one who liked that. Thanks to them, I could leave the map completely bright and illuminated. I used to buy a Philosopher's Stone and a Kage's Lucky Pick, allowing me to have enough gold generation to buy lots of wards to enlighten the map. Also people used to make funny drawings with wards (especially dicks made of wards).
  • Some items were much stronger and/or cheaper than they are now. item 3074 item 3190 item 3143 item 3075 item 3068 item 3157 item 3089 item 3072 All those items have been nerfed and they do not compare to what they used to be in the past, even if they are still viabe (and necessary) sometimes. At least item 3153 item 3124 item 3151 are much stronger items now. Still, I miss the other items that were nerfed.
  • I miss the old Spirit Stone jungle items. I used to like Spirit of the Elder Lizard and its true damage effect for AD junglers. I remember the time that it could proc on any type of damage (physical, magic, or true damage) I could buy it on Hecarim and burn everyone with his W.
  • I seriously miss old Mordekaiser
  • Games weren't as snowbally and quick as they are now. Comebacks were possible. You rarely got to the point where you would be completely stomped on the early game.
  • RPs were cheaper - this is only on the BR server, where Riot Points got their prices increased due to the inflation.

However there is still a number of positive changes for the game after this season. For example, some champions that were incredibly ridiculous in the past got nerfed and are not a serious problem now - Kayle LeeSin Riven Akali Fizz Orianna Syndra Nidalee Jayce Zed Leblanc Katarina - Some champions got reworked to allow them to be healthier for the game or because they weren't viable - Gragas Kassadin Rengar Sion Fiora Gangplank Darius Ryze - and a number of good items got introduced. Examples include item 3285 item 3742 item 3053 item 3748 item 3071 - The Black Cleaver is not a new item but it has been reworked and is now better than before.

All of those positive changes didn't took effect in season 3, so League was somewhat of a mess that time, but for some reason it was still funnier, and some recent changes were still completely unecessary.

Started Nov. 1st 2014. Played about 2000 games of all game types of Morgana since. Planning on a repeat performance this year, if I can ever get past the dragon trainer tristana loading screen. So fucking catchy I've just been sitting here listing to it for 15 minutes now.

ETA: looks like another skin to add to my collection of awesome skins I'll never use >.>

Also OMG I've spent $1285 on this game since I started playing it. Someone stahp me

That's a lot of money to be spending on this game for stuff that is purely aesthetic. Especially when you only play Morgana. I've never spent my own money to buy myself skins. I have bought gift cards but I gave them away to people who weren't myself. All my skins were gifted to me one way or another.

Well getting exiled Morgana cost me $480 because I didn't know they occasionally sell her, so I went mystery gift happy on myself. A large majority of the rest of the money I've spent was gifting people in post-game lobbies or gifting friends. I usually only buy skins for myself when I'm drunk, which is how I got all the irelia skin despite sucking with her. And check my match history-this week I played a lot of not morg. (lost every game lmao)

You're more reckless with your wallet when you're drunk at home then you are while drunk at the bar. Not many people can say this. You're part of a very exclusive club.

And you lost every game? Was Nick involved?

somewhere around halfway through Season 3, I think? Ahri was the newest champion out, and she was on her first free week when I joined.

Hey, same as me!

Ahri was released in Season 2. You're old! :D

My brother introduced me to the Game when Wukong was released but I didn't make my own account (borrowed my brother's to learn the Game) until Talon was added. That was around mid-2011.

Lulu release, season 2 still my favorite login screen

My favorite login screen is Lissandra. Her music still sounds the best. Quinn's wasn't bad either. The only login screen I disliked was Gnar's. The music sounded amateur compared to prior works and the champ itself was garbage on release.

The Rewritten1 votes

Wait wtf Lulu was Season 2? LOL

I still consider her one of the "new" champs.

I remember Riot was promoting Yasuo when my friend got me into the game. I started playing the patch they added trinkets and got to have the fun of forgetting your trinket every game along with everyone else.

I started in the Ahri patch of Season 2. I think it was Chinese New Year, because there were Steamed Buns instead of Red Pots, and I got super confused when they switched back, haha.

My first champ was Kayle, and I played her for maybe 50 games (totally a guess) before moving onto other champs. My mains in Season 2 were Amumu, Kayle, Veigar, and Warwick. I actually spent most of my time introducing people and teaching them how to play League. I have personally taught several dozens of people, including family and friends, and introduced many more. For each "wave" of new players, I made a new account. So yeah, I have quite a few accounts now.

I quit for the majority of Season 3 because my laptop was so bad. I often would get lag spikes from overheating, causing me to effectively do nothing for about 30 seconds at a time.

During Season 4, I got myself a new desktop and started playing again. This was the first season I had attempted ranked, and it is still the only Season where I've played ranked at all. Using only Annie (mid), Warwick (jg), Caitlyn (adc), and Sion (sup, reworked), I got to Plat V in under 150 games after being placed in Silver III.

After the Sion nerfs and Warwick nerfs (my two favorites out of my four mains), I stopped playing ranked in Season 5 and decided to drop my entire current roster. I have not touched Warwick, Veigar, or Sion ever since, except in the occasional ARAM.

I've been having a lot of fun with new champions. Back in Season 2, I had played every single champion once, and based on my experiences, chose my mains from whichever champions I had the most fun with. So from there, I pretty much never played any other champs. But now I've been trying other champs, and I've picked up Nunu, Rammus, Ekko, Ziggs, and Garen.

Funnily enough, I still don't try the more expensive champions very much because I make so many new accounts and never have the IP for them (notice how every champion I've ever mained in the past were all either 450 or 1350 IP).

To date, I have ten accounts in NA, and one account in EUW. Four of my accounts are level 30, and I expect that number will increase to six within three months. There's a lot of things I don't like about this game anymore, but until my friends quit too, I might as well have as much fun with League as I can.

I started in 2010 back whenever Janna was the newest champion released. I stopped for a while and then came back a couple months ago to make this account because I forgot my old one.
