An idea for Riot, to decrease the huge grind that ranked comes with.
I'll start by saying having a 60% winrate is high. Real high. That being said, if each match is on avg 30 minutes, and you're expected to lose 40% of them, the time invested is outrageous to go from low elo to high elo.
That being said, I had a thought.
"Above my tier."
Every 5 ranked games you can try a "above your tier" match. If you win, you get a gigantic MMR gain, and can continue to repeat "above my tier" until you lose, raising ranks each time. So as silver, I'd get a gold match, then plat, then dia.
I hear the shouts of rage already "but Play Grat, what if I'm the tier above stuck with a scrub?!?"... well, incentive it. If you win your gold match with a bronze player on your team (due to above my tier), you get double the MMR. If you lose, you get half. This fact should be openly and heavily noted by Riot so players are excited to see someone from lower elos playing alongside them. I'd even venture to say allowing players to "opt in" to the system for the increased risk/reward would be possible.
The major rule of thumb is though, no one team may have more than 1 player who's currently doing above my tier. Preferably, only one between both teams. Proving you're better than the other silver player on the team means nothing.
So, what's everyone think? Any thoughts or suggestions? Any problems you can see?
EDITS A bit more thought and maybe this could be a winstreak reward? If you win 3 games in a row, you can try your luck at it. For that matter, it could work in reverse as well. If you lose, say, 10 games in a row, it forces you to try at a lower tier. This could clean up boosted players much more effectively than the current grinding out tons of games with losses at the expense of other players.
Another point: this cannot be duo Q'd. It just would be to heavily abused.
