Yasuo top
Why do I still see people play this? I'm genuinely curious. I know he works well in the mid lane due to his mobility and windwall. But the standard top laners just don't care about that. Is there something I'm just missing?

Whenever I see a Yasuo I pick Singed, no matter the lane or time of the day.

Whenever I see a Yasuo I pick Singed, no matter the lane or time of the day.
I go Diana... can stick on him match his damage and absorb more damage :P
picked yas top into singed, worst decision of my life
My friend picks singed into everything.
He honestly just goes where he pleases. The whole game he wanders, taking farm and dancing. He gets fed and I CAN NEVER FIGURE OUT HOW.
Because he's Singed. The only effective way to deal with a Singed is to ignore him.
Anything else is just a lesson in futility.
Or burst him with true damage, that seems to work well. (cough cough fiora cough cough)
Fiora is just over-tuned right now.
As a yasuo main, I hate you.
As a singed enthusiast, I slowly clap
Lol you got two down votes because people are stupid and don't even read threads.
Against certain matchups it's really good because he can harass more effectively due to the lane being much longer. Also, there are more melees top so they can't harass him as easily. There is other stuff but I don't feel like typing rn
For every Yasuo that goes top. A Darius
player smiles.
how?! Every time i try to bully him he ends up beating me in a aa battle or dodges my q with his e.
<
If you are losing AA trades with him then you need to check your runes
A **good **yasuo won't stick around for AA trades, he just uses Q to poke from a distance and e to avoid you till your low enough to all-in. Best darius can hope for is E-AA-W befor yasuo is away every ~20sec, and half of that is blocked by his passive shield, or just outpush him, though yasuo has a rather easy time csing under tower and will outscale you 1v1 at some point(2-3items)
his e is amazing for cs, you will never miss a single creep
Add to that the rushing of Statik Shiv, and you are 100% correct on the Farming aspect.
But then you need to be able to beat Enemies on Pure Item Out-Put... tougher but certainly possible (with Level Advantage when you get them).
Dont fight when waves are fresh to mid health. it's a great way to lose CS from focusing your opponent. once you've cleared most of it he'll run out of targets to E away on and you can focus on just fighting and not worrying over a cannon minion or something.
You can generally start trades with Q. you'll lose out on the heal since he'll either E in or away but if he comes in you fight. if he tries to E after the engage E him back in and W ->Q since in an ideal situation you'll have fought with minimal targets for him to move through. Especially if you broke a dash and it's obvious which minon he's crawling to to try and dash away on again. you can wind up the Q and chase him so that he dashes right into your heal radius.
another idea is to start your Q engage by walking to the outside edge of the wave, either way is fine, and walking the battle away from the minions. you E and W allows you to keep him pulled and slowed if he wants to run. Your second Q should be up by the time your full rotation is through and you guys have exchanged. if you played right he's doing a walk of shame to minions to run and he's prime to heal from.
Also dont run damage focused runes and masteries on Darius. His passive and true damage Ult are all he needs for damage. You're set with good health and armor runes and proper masteries as well as rushing
and
against Yasuo. From there you rush
and Health since the vest helps pre 6 but his ult gives him free 50% bonus armor Pen and you're better off stacking health against him. Overall He has to have a considerably higher level of skill and mastery on his champion to beat a competent Darius player. hence your one down vote from someone.
I once did a lane trade with my mid to fight a yasuo that was 3/0 to my 1/0 and I ran him out of lane. at the end of the game he said his match up against me was so terrifying and so annoying to play against that he was going to buy Darius to try him out. He had such respect for my ability to unanimously shut him down if he didnt use the utmost of his kit that he wanted to learn the champion himself. That's how that match up should be.
you dont need to rush cleaver tho
is probably the best rush you can do as it keeps his passive shield down unless he stays away from you, and therefore the minionwave ^^
It also helps you stay ''in combat'' when you run grasp of the undying However i usually run stormraiders surge as it's synergy with darius ultimate is brilliant.
It's a very good pick for darius, but not one i would use in Ranked in my current elo. Darius is a monster at pushing normally unless you're trying really hard to freeze lane. Bami's wouldn't afford him much of that since it will auto push his lane, which is really my only disagreement with the item. maybe when it nears roaming phase i'll pick it up but certainly never before 6 when an over shoved lane can almost promise a jungler with a pitched tent in river.
Darius may be famous for turning 2v1 ganks into double kills but you cant win them all if played properly or poked too hard before the dive. I agree though about cleaver rush. i dont do it 100% every game. generally only if there's a tanky supp/jungle/both that i want to be sure i can shred come team fight just to get through base armor at the minimum. since darius bleed applies armor shred it's a great way to soften up tanks for ADCs at all stages of the game and you just have to love the 20% cooldown.
None the less. must reinforce to never cookie cutter builds. I just dont like early bami's even if it would help against yas.
I meant bami pretty much to counter yasuo as it breaks his shield and he needs that to trade not to block 15 bami cinder damage ^^
But i see your point it pushes waves. It isnt too bad tho you can just last hit and back out of the wave if you want to then it pushes fairly slow. Then you fast push it into his turret once its big enough But as the cinder counters yasuo you can use a pinkward in the sidebush which wont be cleared untill the jungler comes this should help.
You can max E second if you want armorpen, its what i usually do, then i just get the component items for cleaver to get most of the stats and i can then finish it when i need to. Often i opt to get the phage and then start building more tanky picking up the warhammer when i need some more ad and cdr then finish my tank item and then i finish cleaver.
Pretty much I trigger Yas shield with an AA. He tries to harras me after that? nope I use W He tries to E away? Nope I use E and AAs He tries to E away again? Perfect range for a nice Q.
Yasuo then escapes with almost no HP
The thing here is that he WONT win any trade if Darius is brave to keep attacking. Remember, Darius will win most fights that overextend trades.
You can also trigger his shield with a Q. He will dash to you to avoid full damage, after that trade wisely with your skills and you will definitely win.
Lmao I've played that lane from Darius' side multiple times and it gives me such sick pleasure to do what Darius does to Yasuo.
The only reason Yasuo is not a top laner for a large majority of top laners counter him, However with Yasuos toolkit, their is no reason in why he can't play top lane, He offers all the carry potential a Riven or a Fiora brings. He is also a hella good split pusher but we do not often see yasuos split push in pro or solo play because most yasuos we see go mid, and mid yasuos take flash/ignite/exhaust.
So when you bring Yasuo to the top lane, you now get the luxury to use Flash/Teleport, which now allows you to be a split push threat and a team fight threat.
The only reason we do not see more Top Yasuo is for a large majority of the top lane meta counters him.

He doesnt have nearly the suitability for top that Riven and Fiora have. They do way more damage and are more durable.

Both counter Yasuo by the way. It's not aabout damage and durability. He has many counter matchups and struggles in top cause of this.

A good Riven or Fiora can be damn near unstoppable. I don't usually feel this way about Yasuo. I just don't feel like he has the ability to crush his lane the way Riven and Fiora do. Yasuo can outplay you, Riven and Fiora can completely shut you out of any options.
well so i have seen it several times either he stomps hard or he feeds and stays useless the rest of the game
Playing nasus against yasuo top is like facing a slightly less thirsty riven, ignore his harass and farm under tower for 10 min, then watch him roam cause he is thirsty for kills, take his tower, and kill him when he comes back to lane, again and again.
Because "standard" toplaners these days consist of shit like
which he can kill. The toplaners you are thinking about like
would utterly destroy him, but they aren't being picked
pretty sure mundo bodies yasuo, everytime he engages you can Q aa E and one tick of W is all it takes to turn off his little shield thing. you can just hold out for cinder as well as you dont need damage items
That's what you would expect too right? I would expect Mundo to shit on Yasuo but every game i see the matchup, Yasuo has his way. The champion.gg winrate for that matchup agrees too.
I'm guessing it's because Mundo isn't able to really punish Yasuo's early game and has no hard CC to hold him still either.. Yasuo is also DPS and cuts through Mundo's health stacking with minimal resource loss thanks to low cooldowns and no mana (let's face it half of Mundo's value comes from everything you're forced to waste on him to get rid of him)
I think it's because there is no way Mundo can keep a Yas off of Farm... and once Yas gets Statik Shiv you can fall asleep and farm... so Yas gets Item Spikes and destroys.
Which leads to Yas getting an Advantage on Mundo Pre-6 and Pre-Health Items... and it's the entire 6 and Health Items/Regeneration Items that makes Mundo what he needs to become.
Top lane honestly suits his hard farming, constant pushing playstyle better even if the matchups tend to be harder. I personally prefer it. You're less likely to get camped, more likely to get time to farm hard, and less likely to force a bad team comp by taking him top as opposed to playing an AD mid. There's a reason top lane Yasuo's winrate has been higher than his mid lane winrate for over a year now. It's actually pretty good if you can handle the laning phase.
Yasuo can poke most melees to death with Q, or just outpush them, and at 2 items he will win most straight 1v1s. He doesn't care much if his opponent rushes armor as his ult gives 50%pen, his passive gives great trades as many tops can't just pop the shield without commiting either cd+mana or getting in close range. He just has the tools he needs to win vs some with q-poke and hit n run tactics, avoiding all-ins with his mobillity, while overpowering others with an all-in, while beeing good at farming under tower with e+q and outscaleing most, while also bringing alot waveclear, sepecially with SS. He's harder to play toplane as you have to adapt to different situations while most midlane matchups roughly play the same, but if played well yasuo can come out ontop vs nearly any matchup top, either by safe farming and outscaleing or by winning the lane from the beginning. One should just avoid pant, he will crush you no matter what if he's no a totalll idiot.
If the yasuo is good, his only real concern will be his relative vulnerabillity to ganks, though he's not as vulnerable as darius or some others.
Why do I still see people play this? I'm genuinely curious. I know he works well in the mid lane due to his mobility and windwall. But the standard top laners just don't care about that. Is there something I'm just missing?
I play Yasuo top to ice skate and kite top laner. I'm not looking to do better than I would mid, it's just lots of mid laners are better at stopping my ice skating.
I love seeing the enemy pick Yasuo top. Makes my hueart jump in joy on how much fun I'm gonna have.
to be fair, you're playing the big hard guys that tear yasuo up aren't you?
I am not complaining since I main Riven C: I think they do it since the top champions can't build armor to counter him because of his ultimate
I prefer playing Yasuo top lane now over mid for quite a few reasons.
Yasuo doesn't really need windwall because most top laners don't have projectiles, and with his mobility he can win trades pretty decisively. Assuming he uses his mobility well.
It's not as good of a lane for him as Mid, but a good yasuo player can make it work and then just transition into a late game carry.
Because mid Yasuo has been pretty weak lately, so people have been building him bruiser (Triforce shiv DM) and play him as a split pusher top instead
i only ever pick yasuo top if its a normal game with friends (because they can camp my lane if i get a bad matchup) or if i'm not going to fight someone who counters me (since most top laners right now counter yasuo) yasuo top sucks pretty bad though, don't know why people would pick it otherwise
used to counter him so hard to the point where you should just sit in your base lol
When a Yasuo uses wind wall to try to deflect my Jax's Leapstrike. When he doesn't even aim it in my direction.
When a Yasuo uses wind wall to try and deflect turret shots like they were released only a day ago.
pretty sure most fighters just out-stat yasuo if he tries to walk up to them
Mainly because I wanna play yasuo but someone else got mid lane, you just play the lane passively, don't all in bruiser just take as much early lifesteal and make quick EQ trades
I'm seriously convinced you could play anyone in just about any lane if you play your cards right. I used J!nx top, and beat a Darius, carried my team, and we ended up winning. It was hella fun by the way, but of course, all I heard was players salty as hell that I chose J!nx for top until I got in-game. I've also had a diamond player on my team one day who used Sona top, carried, and to this day this is how I know Sona can be scary. Sona with two pentakills that game. omg
When I play normals and just feel like playing Yasuo, I queue for mid and top. Due to his mobility cheese he can be a tough customer for a lot of top laners. But that being said, 80% of the top laners are a tough customer for Yasuo. I would never suggest top lane for Yasuo, but if you want an isolated early game (unless you're against a Lee Sin jungle) top lane is a good choice. His (lack of)sustain can be counteracted by runes and masteries now, considering his Q procs Lifesteal and gives you a nice range advantage for farming.
Its still very biased towards the regular top laners though, and I only suggest doing it if you're not new with him or if you're against a mage, or Gnar.
I've found Yasuo to be an amazing Gnar counter because you can delete his boomerang with the Wind Wall, and you can outplay his ultimate, and W stuns with your dash.
