Bard's passive double procs Fros Queen's, why doesn't Lulu's do it?

If Bard's passive can get a double fros queen's proc, why can't Lulu's get it? It wouldn't affect her mid and top lane but be a little help for her supporting. I thought it should work this way since Brand gets it with his DOT.

Because it'd quadruple proc it, and doesn't have any sort of innate cooldown.

Neither does Morgana and she gets all 3 proccs in a single second. On single targets.

No, she needs her 3 damage ticks which is by second as I believe. She is in a lot better position though since she can do the procs at a lot safer range. A single proc from pix would be more than enough, it can be blocked by minons anyway. At least I wouldn't need to play with fire getting them off agains a Leona.

...Did you just say Morg's W doesn't have a cooldown?

Can I get what you're smoking? Because it seems to be distorting time something fierce.

I said that Morg gets all Frost Queens proccs instantly. Every time.

Yes, her W does have a cooldown.

So do the frost queen proccs.

It's not like Lulu would 3ple procc it on every single hit like you are implying.

Yes, yes it does. Frost queen's has 3 charges and they fill on a cooldown. Do you even play the game?

You aren't very good at this "reading comprehension" thing.

Lulu's AA modifier doesn't have a cooldown. It fires three shots. It doesn't have a cooldown. If it applied spell effects it'd trigger Spellthief 4 times in total. It doesn't have a cooldown. It'd trigger Spellthief four times. It has no cost or cooldown. Lulu could use it every time she has three charges to get all three charges triggered without any mana expenditure or ability cooldown.

Are you getting it yet? Can you wrap your head around this concept? Lulu's passive has no cooldown. Lulu's passive fires three shots. Lulu's passive applying Spellthief would be broken as all hell. Morgana has to use mana and enemies can walk out of its AoE in the 1.5 seconds required for the damage to tick three times. Lulu would be able to fire and forget an manaless AA modifier that can't be dodged.

Yes, it would trigger an effect with 3 charges a total of 4 times.

I get it, you are officially a retard now.

You are also trying to make it sound like Morgana has considerable mana costs for her puddle proccing all 3 almost instantly to be justified.

By the way, it's not like Riot couldn't hardcode it so that spellthief only proccs once per Lulu's passive triggered.

Actually, now that I think about it, you are right. Riot has indeed proven themselves to be inadequate when it comes to programming, so I wouldn't trust them with something that simple.

P.S. You are also forgetting that Lulu's passive can be blocked by creeps. So she doesn't really have a guaranteed triple procc in lane.

The frost queen passive is honestly the most inconsistent thing in the game. Brand's magic damage over time procs it but gangplank's does not. Sona's can double proc it with her q on hit magic damage but not on her passive. Also I'm pretty sure Nami's e cannot double proc it.

AbodyHUN6661 votes

Either one proc per attack/spell or give it to any dot

JustMyBassCannon2 votes

Brand's passive is an on-spell effect, Gangplank's passive is an on-attack effect. Sona's Q hits two targets with a spell, but her passive is an on-attack effect and counts as part of her basic attack. Nami's E is considered an on-attack effect as well.

It's consistent, people just need to learn mechanics.

I'm sure though that these things could be normalized for all champs. Since Frost Queen recharges over a fixed time only, it wouldn't matter to let all dot effects pop the charges.

JustMyBassCannon2 votes

I could agree with making the Frost line of gold gain items only proc once per individual attack or spell for the sake of balance. I'm just saying, this is mechanically why it works like this.

Actually sona's passive does not proc spellthief (at least I never proc spellthief with it) but her q has 2 components first it sends out two missiles second all allies in a small range get bonus magic damage on their next auto and that damage procs spellthief separate from auto attack damage.

Also gp can use his q to apply his passive and frankly idc how it is applied all passives that deal additional damage should proc spellthief equally (especially since auto attacks proc it so you can't make the spell vs auto argument)

Additionally they should normalize dots because teemo's doesn't get to proc it multiple times but morgana/brand can

No, Sona's passive does not proc Spellthief, but Spellthief procs on spells or basic attacks hitting enemy champions or towers.

Her passive is a part of her basic attack, rather than being a spell effect, so it doesn't count as a second Spellthief proc. That's what I was clarifying.

Also gp can use his q to apply his passive and frankly idc how it is applied all passives that deal additional damage should proc spellthief equally (especially since auto attacks proc it so you can't make the spell vs auto argument)

GP's Q is treated as a basic attack. All the spells that say "applies on-hit effects" are treated as basic attacks--Mystic Shot (Ezreal), Urchin Strike (Fizz), Parrrley (Gangplank), etc.

This means that they are not able to apply spell-hit effects. Gangplank, Fizz and Ezreal can not proc Rylai's, Liandry's or Luden's with their Q spells. They can proc Spellthief because it works on basic attacks as well, but it's not treated as a spell.

Additionally they should normalize dots because teemo's doesn't get to proc it multiple times but morgana/brand can

Attack DoTs and Spell DoTs are differently coded. Spell DoTs treat all of the damage as an spell source, so each tick is treated as spell damage.

Attack DoTs separate the initial damage of the basic attack from the DoT; the initial damage is a basic attack, and the DoT afterwards is what's called "on-hit effect damage" which is separate and doesn't proc basic attack on-hit effects.

This separation is necessary because of effects such as Blade of the Ruined King or Ravenous Hydra. Without that, you would see Talon use BotRK to pretty much instantly shred opponents with his Q (it would do in the neighborhood of 40% current HP damage through those re-procs).

Mechanically, and balance-wise, it makes sense.

Don't ask me why Riot decided mage items were okay to re-proc through DoT spells.

WarlockLaw2 votes

Im just saying that every dot should apply spellthief as it procs on spell hit (not auto hit like blade of the ruined king) or none of them should as to me that's what makes sense. There is a difference between on basic attack hit (hydra/botrk/lifesteal) and on spell hit (liandry's/spellthief/luden's) so i feel they could normalize it, though I guess it would be a lot of code for cases like dots that apply on auto attacks.

Also it still stands that sona can proc spellthief 3 times against a single button by pressing q then right clicking them

JustMyBassCannon1 votes

Do you know exactly how many mages and supports can press a single button and land 2-3 procs of Spellthief at a time?

Last I counted, all of them, potentially.

Some of them use an AoE spell that can hit both enemy champions. Others have a DoT. A few have bouncing spells. Whatever the case, all of the champions who would want the Frost line of items--that is, AP-based champions who harass their opponents in the lane--are capable of using it to that degree. Some have it easier than others. That's like saying Ryze uses Archangel's better than other mages, or that Yasuo is the champion that uses Statikk Shiv best.

One has a strength that the other does not. That's called an advantage, not an imbalance.

As a final note, I'd really love to know, why the hell are you worried about Gangplank, Talon and Teemo not being able to proc Spellthief?

Because the meeps count as a spell. meeps can pop spell shields. So you get 5g from the auto and 5g from the meep.

Lulu's passive is just an auto.
