Don't Worry About the Nerf to Dark Matter

It's not like you could hit anything with it that had a functioning brain.

"Waaaaaaaah my main is so weak Rito stop nerfing my champion you can never hit someone with his W waaaaaaah!"

You're not special for playing Veigar, and you never were. Get over yourself.

Yeah man, compared to the guy passive-aggressively insinuating that you have to be a dumbass to be hit by Veigar's W.

Unproductive, poorly thought-out threads shouldn't get productive responses.

Are you the dumbass that gets hit by Veigar's W? It's okay, not all of us can have common sense to right click away from the glittery little puddle.

Actually bronze IV support player with a 1.84 KDA who is very bad at the game, I don't tend to get hit by Veigar's W and have beaten him in lane every time I've fought him since the buff, and possibly since I've started playing.

To be fair, the veigs you are playing against are bronze 4 as well

If you haven't got anything productive to say...

That's what I WOULD say, but I know the boards.

Any thread can be productive. Try sparking a discussion, think of how it could be better for everyone. Everyone but Vayne, that is

Hey sure man, I could do that, but I don't feel this thread deserves it. But just to prove I can:

I don't feel the nerf to Veigar's W solves what Veigar's real problems are. His biggest problem is safety. He can farm from 950 range and is rewarded exceptionally for doing so, which makes it very hard to bully the infinite scaling late game hard carry (compare to Nasus, who is far easier to punish because he has to farm at range, and has a much weaker late game). Hitting the range of his Q might be a viable way to bring him more in line.

The most unhealthy aspect of Veigar's kit though is probably his ult's scaling off of the enemy's AP. So essentially, you're punished for building an AP carry like an AP carry, and the items you build to counter Veigar tend to make you weaker against the rest of Veigar's team. Mechanics that punish the player for doing well are inherently unhealthy.

Yeah just like how his E is so hard to hit aswell.

If you are experiencing difficulty escaping Event Horizon, might I recommend item 1001? A hasty retreat can be the difference between life and death. If you still find yourself at odds with this precarious stun, I suggest item 3111 to ensure a rapid escape.

That's not the point, point is that you Veigar means overreact the difficulty in playing him.

Would you kindly demonstrate an appropriate reaction then, that I might emulate it in future discussions?

Not pretending that it's impossible to hit E/W for starters.

Especially since after the buff last patch, it's actually reasonable to land his W without CC.

Not that it matters anyway, with his 950 range Q and guaranteed instant kill ult. He'll be imbalanced until they rework his ult.

Go on.

Veigar mains still act like he's got a weak laning phase and it's possible to deny him farm.

That's only true if the Veigar is braindead.

Spicy Rice1 votes

More like the opposite, Veig's lane phase is one of the hardest to pull of well, without your lane opponent being brain dead or a bot.

Maybe before they changed his Q range from 600 to 950. Now he can just stand well out of anyone's range and farm his Q off cooldown.

That is why you use his E to make it hit, or use it with team mates, or use it to clear waves fast.

Guess I was brain dead when Alistar/Lee sin/Gnar/Poppy etc hit me into it.

Guess it was dumb of me when I got stunned and he dropped it on top of me for chain CC.

Guess it was dumb of me to get trapped in it and not have a blink to get out of it outside of flash.

Come on dude., his E is really good even if it doesn't hit you.

A Superb Villain3 votes

Well, yeah.

See, the thing about Veigar that people vehemently refuse to accept is that he is not a strategic champion. Nothing in his kit possesses nuance; you land E, press all the buttons. There is nothing complex about his kit or interacting with it. Veigar is a tactical champion, everyone should be familiar with his tools, and position themselves accordingly, just as Veigar should. If Veigar is in a team with heavy displacement, you can assume he will try to set up Event Horizon so his teammates can capitalize on that.

If you are getting stun-locked, you were already dead.

If you were caught by Event Horizon and couldn't be bothered to run out before it activated, you were caught out of position.

The start-up time on it is a lot shorter than you are giving credit for.

Yeah if I am in lane and trying to space it out I can avoid it but that is a legitimate threat he has I need to be mindful of.

I'm not saying there isn't counter play to it and if I get hit, it can be legitimately my fault.

I am saying getting hit that that or his W is possible, more so his E leading into W or some form of CC helping Veigar out. It is possible to be hit by it is all I was ever saying.

Doofs2 votes

Come on dude we can both admit once you get to 800 ap and it's maxed, the damage coming off of it is stupid high. That and if they're dumb enough to walk into your event horizon it's pretty much guaranteed. I mean that was my whole lane combo, E W Q, pause and stack let them push and E W R Q. If they don't know how to lane against you or know how much damage you do it's their fault but when dark matter can steal Barons it's a little hard to predict for the enemy.

Wait, edit:

Okay so my Pc was down this whole week and I couldn't play league. All I knew was Veigar's Q stacked on assists last patch and he turned into a FOtM. I had no idea they were brutally beating him with a needlessly large rod cause of it now. Holy shit, Riot jesus.

A Superb Villain1 votes

Isn't that the point? If Veigar reaches late-game reasonably fed, his abilities are going to hurt, just like any champion that builds straight damage.

Spicy Rice1 votes

Like any champion who has an infinitely scaling offensive stat (cough Nauss cough)

The difference is that Nasus has an incredibly weak lane phase and actually falls off lategame since he just gets kited around like a bitch against competent players.

There's also the fact that he doesn't deny ganks with AOE CC and is melee.

^

And the fact that he's only useful for splitpushing while Veigar has a better Thresh ult on a basic ability and the ability to instantly kill the enemy team's AP.

tbh his stun and w arent hard to land at all, just try not spamming them in every situation and wait for a good moment.

E > W combo is easy to hit.
