No, I love them. They're the best teammates I can get matched with.

Sincerely, A support only player.

I'd argue the problem is League and not the players.

While I agree that you should know every role, and saying "can't X" is unacceptable, that's not your argument. You're specifically mentioning anti-Supports.

Which raises the question, why? The answer feels obvious, most players don't like support anyways.

So, is the problem really with players who "can't support"? Perhaps their playstyle is hugely aggressive and snowbally which doesn't fit the support role well at all (aggressive may, but you're not going to snowball very often as a support). Perhaps they're only at this elo because they have god-like last-hitting abilities which are entirely wasted on support (and jungle admittedly).

So why are these players a problem? Because most players dislike playing support more than any other roles. Which means it's Riot's fault, not the players.

Make support more fun to play and the problem disappears. A game where 1 of 5 roles is considered a burden or chore to more than 4 of 5 players (I'd guess it's over 90% to be honest) is NOT a well designed game. Even if everything else about league is great (I'd argue there are some serious balance issues right now too, but I digress) you can't make a game where you expect to have an over 50% chance that one person on a team will not enjoy playing that game.

Personally, I dislike support because I feel useless later in the game despite playing exceedingly well early. I've had several support games where I'll start 3/0/6 or 0/0/9, but if the ADC (my main role, btw) hasn't CS'd well or doesn't position well he's entirely useless while if either enemy solo laner or jungler has a lead I'm nothing more than a walking cannon minion and can't do anything to stop them. In contrast had i done that well in literally any other role, perhaps I'll still lose but at least I'll be in a position to make plays, perhaps get a timely pick and bring my team back in to the game.

I have carried several games where all 4 of my allies have fallen far behind and succeeded in winning as every other role in the game. Far more often I've been relevant in these games and given our team a flicker of hope although we ultimately still lose. I enjoy those games because they're a challenge and I feel like I could still have an impact.

I've never carried a game as a support where both solo lanes and the jungler are far behind, and my ADC isn't also playing well (I have still "carried" games as support by getting my ADC a lead and letting him carry, but that still requires at least one ally to help me carry). I've also never had such a game where I'm ahead as support and the team remains somewhat positive because the support can get them back in to it. I hate these scenarios because I feel like I played incredibly well and it was completely useless as I still have no impact whatsoever.

who plays a game to babysit a kid yelling at you? No one. That's why support is dumb and boring

Healz Please1/24/2016, 8:47:04 PM8 votes

Eh. I'd rather people who don't know how to support stay away from it. I hate allowing someone else to play support and see them feed bot lane.

To those assholes who hold onto pick order like it's the damn bible, and worship RNGesus.

Kindred : " oh hi fellas I'm a jungle main can I please have jungle?

Darius :" stfu ur last pick your fucking support noob"

Kindred :" but..but guys this account is primarily for jungling, and jungle is where I shine. I have next to no supports even on this account."

Karthus :" I don't like jungle but you're last pick, and I'm not supporting, so i'll jungle. "

Kindred:" but guys using the rule of pick order without even considering my input is basically relying on RNG to make our team comp. That's no way to make a team."

MIDSona: "stfu ur brnz last pik trash"

Rumble:"ADC OR FEED"

So sincerely from all of us last pickers. Go fuck yourself.

Not wanting to play a role they don't enjoy in a GAME. Shitpost.

As a support main I just let them know theyre missing out on being carried.

How did something as simple as this get up voted 47 times? Wow, a simple opinion with 6 words in the post... Genius.

I've noticed a trend, wherein the people who say those sorts of things, often end up being quite literal. They splitpush top constantly. Are found Farming Raptors/Wolves when the team is setting up for Drake or teamfight. They're just generally incapable of supporting the team whatsoever, in favor of padding their KDA

To be honest I can't blame them for not wanting the role.

[zombie-nunu-tears]

It takes a certain sort of personality to want to play that role. Similar to the way Healers are in most MMO games it's a personality that likes to rely on team mates and help others. For people who have visions of glory and "sick plays" the role seems extremely boring and tedious. For those with a serious personality defect LIKE MYSELF:

[slayer-pantheon-thumbs]

It's enjoyable to help others do well. It's a satisfaction of seeing something you worked to build (your ADC) work the way it is intended (pentakill) the role isn't always the most -rewarding- role in the game in multiple ways such as GOLD (We barely get any tho the latest changes helped that) or even team mates recognition of your efforts. But the small moments of recognition for their efforts make the role worth playing.

For example go look at "Magickarpusedfly" (Don't think I spelt that right) he has a video on Heimerdinger where he has a teammate called "Bee" or "B" or something. They are playing Soraka and just BARELY keeping him alive but playing it -perfectly- so that he didn't die during the fight. He barely escaped the fight with Soraka basically butt-clenching her way to victory and the entire time he's screaming "BEE!!!!!--- BEEEE!!!!!!---- WHY ARE YOU SO GOOD AT THIS GAME BEEEEEE!!!- FUCKKKKKKKKKKK" From personal experience, when your carrys (toplane/mid/adc whatever) Are getting saved by their support -that hard- this is exactly what they do every time. They scream and laugh cause it's so strange for them to see the insane impact the support has. These are the only moments in which a support actually gets the praise for their role they deserve but for someone who plays the role often, it's the only moments they need to be reassured they are indeed a strong player.

The role has huge pitfalls for anyone without a serious mental issue like all of us support mains (Seriously wtf is wrong with us) and that's why it's so hard for mid and top mains to understand the role and to play it with any conviction. Do they actually hate the role? Probably not. They're most likely just bored by it, too lazy to put in the effort required to properly play the role.

[slayer-jinx-unamused]

Anyway. Last point:

It might also have something to do with support being -the most difficult role in the game- You can try to argue against that point all you want but you won't convince me otherwise. I won't bother explaining why here cause this comment is already super long but bottom line is: You help everyone else do their job with half their gold and half their items.

Its a pain when a support main meets with other support mains

63536895_DEL1/25/2016, 12:27:42 PM4 votes

What players really mean when they say "can't support , anything but support, not support" is "can't take mental abuse" "anything but mental abuse" "not mental abuse".

Who can blame players for not wanting to deal with an adc who gets grabbed by the enemy Blitz 3 times a minute and violently blames the support.

The support role itself isn't the problem, its the adc's who make people not want to play that god awful role.

Noname41231/25/2016, 9:22:16 AM3 votes

I'm glad I'm a "can't ADC" "anything but ADC" "not ADC" player.

nintentwins1/25/2016, 1:42:47 AM3 votes

The worst part is these "anything but support" players have NO EXCUSE. Soraka is only 450 ip, anybody can save up and buy her without even trying just so they can have at least one support champion, should they be forced to supp. Plus blitzcrank is crazy fun, so theres that. I had a game where my supp only owned one supp champion, which was blitz, and blitz got banned. So I convinced him to buy raka since she's very cheap and it would give him another supp to work with. And that game turned out really well. I can understand not liking to play support. But owning no support champions makes no sense, anybody can buy raka, only 450 ip.

MrWasjig1/25/2016, 11:00:13 AM2 votes

This is exactly the reason I became a Support main in the first place. Because nobody else wants to fucking play Support xD Not that I have an issue playing it myself mind, only when people completely ignore all the work you do as a Support [zombie-nunu-bummed]

Xyltin1/26/2016, 1:43:45 PM2 votes

The thing is that it is impossible to not know how support works.

You are a mid caster main? There are enough supports with a similar playstyle.

Top lane or jungle? Enough tanky supports even tanks that you can play in both of these roles. And it is unlikely that you never played a tank in any of these roles when you main one of it.

ADC? You have to know how a support works or you can't play the bot lane well with any synergy. Just go for a defensive Janna and do what you would expect from your support if you would be the ADC.

Talon main? Ok now you got a problem.

i've been playing on an older account i have (i remembered the password XD) and i'm carrying all my games with traditional Karma, for some reason some of the past few games, the enemy team had 2 adcs

and i love when Sona comes to poke my adc but i just e my adc and w+ r+q "sona plz come poke my adc, plz"

PrfsrChaos1/25/2016, 6:43:23 PM2 votes

I don't understand those players it is the ultimate stress relief.

If you're having a bad day in solo Q, play support.

Your job is simple, annoy the other team's players as much as possible.

Aww enemy team you wanna be good at trading, no worries Sona Soraka Nami will make sure all of your efforts are futile.

Oh no!! You wanna burst down my adc?!! That's cool Morgana Zilean Janna will make sure that's not an option.

Cool!! You're trying to run away!!! How rude we were talking my buddies Blitzcrank Thresh Nautilus will make sure you come back and say sorry for being so rude.

Being support is freedom. It's hope. It's relaxation. No worrying about cs counts. No one expects you to get the kills since you have no damage. It's not just your job to ward anymore since there are so few available. It's like being that kid that just gets to coast and hold the poster while the rest of your group presents the group project. No stress and no chance of messing up.

You work hard all day in Solo Q trying to carry. Take a few games off, relax a bit, toss down some wards and just throw cc at anything near.
