sure he has some range, but hes one of the few tanky cc based supports that cant really make full use of it.

He can.

The Passive damage on Flay actually works in his favor.

I'd instead argue that Rakan needs it more.

well unless thresh moves .000001 millimeters away and is suddenly deemed "ranged" and it doesn't proc

the cs gold going to the ADC when he starts attacking with the whip like attack it doesnt trigger properly

I'm assuming you're referring to the "instantly executes minion below certain health" thingy?

Well that only triggers for melee champions.

And Thresh isn't a melee champion.

He can still buy it.

And the Passive damage on his flay, like I said, actually works in his favor because it helps him deal more damage and, in turn, helps him last hit, which, in turn, helps him give the cs gold to the ADC.

IT IS triggering properly. You should read the text that actually appears when you mouse over the item next time.

but that's exactly my point, the lack of that effect really makes him lackluster in comparison to other supports, even the likes of blitzcrank. pair that with the new rune sets being absolutely stupid to piece together for him, its just a minor quality of life isssue.

Thresh not being able to just instantly execute a minion from 4 TIMES the range of a melee champion is a "minor quality of life issue"?
