Why does jg 
Illaoi
get such a rough rep? She requires no leash, ganks well, and becomes monstrous in late game especially with warrior cinderhulk
. Yet, everytime someone does it as ive seen, all they are met with is judgement and complaint.
please someone show me the downside to having the B.A. squid wife in the jg.

Yeah if you're good at Illaoi, a bad Xin is probably equal to a average/good jg illaoi, same with yi, but yi might be even more stronger, since he can Q your q/ult/tentacles. It was like old Zilean, why would you play him when you could play Sona,Soraka,Thresh,Janna etc, but if you're good at him, do as you please

- her best phase in the game is lane phase (said by people like Imaqtpie/Lwdominate etc) and she won't have her tentacles to gank so no pre 6 ganks, and she'll only get i believe 1 tentacle because it spawns however many tentacles based on how many people she hits
Edit: her healing is bad because it's only on champions, and her passive can spawn tentacles in irrelevant places

So if she were better than them she would be more played.
Then again there are allways sleeper op champions.
right now has a win rate of 56% in 30-35 minute games with 53% average in mid lane.
He is way out of meta fluctuating between .6% and 1.2% play rate.
So if you think she is viable go for it and play her.
Metas shift with nerfs and buffs but also with someone messing around with mechanics.

Quantum Lotus1 votesShe can jungle but only on a specific team comp. If her allies have cc she is fine in the jungle but if no one has cc then her ganks are really shit and pretty useless... If you want to play her in a "lesser meta" position I would recommend middle lane or even support over jungle. She is a good damage support and counter engage support. By counter engage I mean she will kill people that try to jump on you sort of like zyra support.

That would be problem solved except for the fact that you are relying on your second item to pull off a decent gank (assuming your allies have no CC) and by the time most junglers even start their second item (the 1st item after your jungle item), the laning phase is about over and you don't need to gank anymore but rather split or group for objectives instead and Crystal scepter is completely useless on her because her abilities do ZERO AP damage.
also I would recommend 
for more damage on her over trinity force because trinity force is way to expensive and frozen gauntlet provides slows with ever w (so useful during ult) and gives her some armor!

ShuffledPancake1 votesNot really, i'd like to see a gif or some sort of proof you can clear say 2-4 camps on your first run, that would be staple of good jungling, + being full build when early game is your peak is a con, not a pro (Early game>Late game)

Ok. I will give you an ideal situation to use illaoi in the jungle but first lets ask some questions.
What does she offer and what can she do well? -Map control with her tentacles -prevents counter jungling with all of the tentacles she has. No one would want to fight her in her jungle. -Can deal massive amounts of damage and be very tanky.
What can't she do/what are her weaknesses? -No form of crowd control -Extremely slow attack speed (on par with annie) -Reliant on her tentacles to be able to deal decent amounts of damage. -Not very fast
Now lets create the ideal Niche situation in champion pick for choosing Illaoi in the jungle
Enemy team
Top:

This team has a lot of engage and a lot of burst. This team would be great at counter jungling, assassinating, and split pushing.

This team has amazing siege potential and teamfighting potential. They are heavy AOE team. and offer good disengage for the assassins on the enemy team. If someone tries to split push or if you are worried about split pushers you can take 
in the mid lane as he offers map mobility and control (you can use his E to quickly get back to your team or to get to an allied turret being pushed). We put in the jungle because if someone were to try and counter jungle her, she would kick their asses with her tentacles.

I put a lot of thought into this comment but not just for you but also for myself lol. I love to play Illaoi and from this comment I have figured out a niche game that she would be viable to be played in the jungle.
Edit: I replaced enemy zed with leblanc (the mid laner would need to be AP because they have none) and the other suggestion for an ally adc from ezreal to kog'maw (how can you choose ezreal if the enemy chose ezreal? unless it is normals). Also fixed a few spelling errors.

Nice! you are lucky the only CC they had to stop you was q and gold card. Illaoi needs to be countered with silence, knockups, or stuns if that monster is going to be stopped xD
