Can someone point out the weakness of a ranged champion TOP when playing vs a non-mobile melee?
I can't find any weakness anymore. They just own the lane, unless your jungler is camping 24/7

They die once you get to them.
Immobile melees do this through CC or just running at them and murdering them.
Ranged champs generally have inferior stats to melee ones. If you get in range, you should be able to take the 1v1, even after taking a few hits.
Ranged top laners are usually squishy and immobile. They aren't strong laners otherwise. That's why they're top, bullying you, instead of in another lane where they'd have more impact. They are easy to gank. Let them push the wave to bait in your jungler. Even if they don't come, you can turn and chase them all the way back to their tower.
Sure, then they use their mobility tools and kite tools and whittle you down before you get a chance to hit them once. The changes to solo exp combined with the nature of the meta makes ADC tops more viable than they were before.
Doran's Shield got substantial buffs for melee champs. Take it + Second Wind and you can take a ton of punishment against enemies who are trying to whittle you down.
You have to play defensively (not passively). Take what you can get, punish their mistakes, and give them nothing to snowball off of.
Yeah no, the D-shield buff did absolutely nothing. The only difference is that you might get a extra 1 or 2 hp than you would have before. Its still a trash item, and regen is a shit stat that riot wont take time to fix because they rather keep helping ranged users abuse melees for as long as they want.
No, it got huge buffs.
Old Doran's Shield: up to 30 HP over 10 seconds = 3 HPS New Doran's Shield: up to 40 HP over 8 seconds = 5 HPS
The healing went up by 60%. If you're taking an auto here and there, you can keep up what is effectively a half-strength Health Potion indefinitely.
-Based on missing health Case you forgot about the fine print. Its not a buff.
It was based on missing health before these changes.
Yeah, which is why im saying its not really a buff. Ranged harass will still overpower it. Second Wind isn't able to remedy it either, neither can specters vs magic damage. If Health Regen was a decent stat, then maybe melee's could survive the ranged harass. Sadly thats not the case with damage being up compared to before.
It's not meant to be "Buy this item to totally invalidate your lane opponent". It softens their poke so you actually have enough health to trade or turn when the opportunity arises. Melees have superior stats to ranged champs by their nature. If you can get in close, you win the trade.
The regen provided by Doran's Shield + Second Wind give you more time and more health to close the gap or get to safety, and make it significantly more difficult for them to get you low enough that you can't do anything.
The fact that they die immediately without question as soon as a melee get on them isn’t a weakness? -.-
they break their team composition and cant function or do anything when late game come around.
Because there isnt a melee top laner to initiate, tank, or peel for them.
Obv there are some exceptions like Gnar, and Urgot who function more as a melee tank than they do a ranged champion. But i think what youre talking about is Quinn, Vayne, Lucian, etc etc. All of which make their teams suffer with bad composition. Not a very good trade for being a bully from lvl 1-5 if you ask me.
There are lanes you're not supposed to win, period. But this is a team-game, and you have an opportunity to fight for the win in mid/late game.
Ranged laners have an advantage in the 1v1 vs an immobile melee, but it comes at the price of usually worse team-comp and scaling.
Don't give up an early kill, get what CS you can, and after you start getting some levels, take advantage of your stronger base stats and either make a teleport play or have your jungler come to assist you.
The weakness is that the game doesn't end with your lane, especially top.
Engage.
If you play Darius, you're fucked. If you play Camille, THEY'RE fucked.
Also late game relevance. As long as you don't feed kills and cs moderately well under tower you should be worth more after lane is over.
