I do kind of wish Riot would also worry about griefing/inting as much as they worry about toxicity.

I do not know if it's just me, but Riot places way too much emphasis on toxicity that inters/griefers are getting away with it. I know that people are trying new, and wacky stuff during preseason, but it gets worse in preseason more than regular season. I have seen way more extremely outlandish picks in many of my games then I normally would. I am not saying that practice, and testing is a bad thing, but preseason should not be a Mad Max Paradise it is. Now I do believe that this is a issue, but I also really think Riot do need to work on the balancing of just the normal game in general with regards to what is viable, and how snowbally/onesided games are even with new bounty system that just can snowball the game in the opposite direction, or just take a semi even game to a hard snowball for one side.

Maybe don't release videos that say you can legit int and grif in game to try new meta, maybe

it's significantly easier for a bot to detect toxicity than it is to detect a intentional feeder so obviously that gets punished more quickly and easily

deadmendontlie1 votes

That is true, but I do believe that a employee at riot will only look into a player if they are reported on the support page. Maybe to fix this they could add a flag of some sort that will bring it to someones attention after so many reports in a short span of time instead of just mostly trying to rely on bots. These bots also have issues due to the fact that one, or two reports for toxicity will trigger a punishment if you pass a certain message threshold, or certain key words are triggered enough games in chat that they were reported.

I mean I would like griefing punished a lot more but there will always be more people getting banned for toxicity since it is way easier to catch.

Clearly calling someone a noob is way worse than intentionally ruining the game!

How can you ever say such a thing to a poor teammate of yours?

ITS INCONCEIVABLE!

DU Baymax2 votes

I agree with you that truly toxic behavior (intentionally feeding/running it down, afk, etc) should be punished at least as harshly as toxicity if not harsher

However, let's be clear here. Outlandish picks are not trolling. Full AP bard mid lane isn't inting, inting is inting. If your teammates are playing off meta stuff but genuinely trying to win the game with their pick, they are not trolling

The balance of the game is gonna change eventually, but I do agree that riot needs to shift away from toxicity ban focus. I can just mute someone if they are being toxic ez. Now when they decide to never group or base or int is when my game is ruined.

well lets define what INTing is?

and what exactly about griefing do you want punished?

Wacky92 votes

Inting is easy to determine if you break it down into factors, ordered by their likelihood of indicating inting:

  1. Flaming/ignoring teammates (This includes typing something annoying into /all chat every time you die and ignoring chat the rest of the game)
  2. A really dumb build i.e. AD Anivia (this comes from a true ARAM story)
  3. Dying. A LOT.
  4. Not following/staying with teammates or invading their lane when they don't want you to (and tell you this)
  5. Going from doing really well to really crappy fast
  6. Previous history
  7. Dumbass runes
  8. Refusing surrenders on lost games
  9. Minimal ward usage Super rare but important factor: Using your abilities to harm teammates.

If you hit top 3, guess what you're inting. If you weren't trying to, maybe you should try communicating constructively with your teammates to see how you can get better. If you don't meet all the top 3 requirements, supplement with other factors. Important: KDA doesn't really matter here, deaths do and the timing thereof. If you give up halfway through a match, you can walk away with a mediocre KDA but still be very guilty of inting. Your deaths would be low for the first 15 minutes and then just start shooting up. However the reverse almost is never purposeful inting, just a crappy player.

Dont forget Soft Inters.

Often Junglers that afk farm, Move to the opposite side of the map when enemy or team are going for Baron or Dragon, Never or almost no ganks, Not grouping, Often saying nothing (as to not get hit by the dumb ban bots), have low Deaths or die 2-3 times early to one enemy lane to snowball it then never dies again (by not fighting ever)

deadmendontlie1 votes

Yeah, but not all jungler's know correct macro play/ pathing. I do agree that not grouping towards the current obj is a dumb idea, but consistently I do see teammates do just that go for objs that are out of the way, and not needed currently.

so everything is INTing ?

I'd love to see people required to play champions in bots before going to PVP - I can't tell you the number of games that have been lost because some Einstein decided they'd use a new champion they just bought or crafted in lane for the first time. The predictable slaughter of that person is not only bad for their team but for them, since the experience ends up being highly negative. As far as griefing goes, just reduce the number of votes for a surrender at and after 25 minutes to 3. I have had several games with people refusing to give up even when the game was 18-2 or something lopsided of that nature, where the enemy team simply took their time killing at will and refusing to end. Those are the worst kinds of games to play, especially since you cannot AFK or you get penalized.

deadmendontlie1 votes

Maybe they should include the lower surrender count if the game is over a certain gold difference. Since I have been trapped in plenty of games where a duo wants to hold us hostage.

The JigSAW1 votes

That works too. Ha, people keep downvoting me because I want people to play champions in bots to learn them rather than try them out in a normal game and get wrecked. I really don't get the mentality of that. "Hey, how can I really screw up my team today? Oh yeah I'll play this champ I never used before.."

Riot's biggest problem with player mentality is all the snowflakes and crybabies that feel every little thing should be reported. The worst players to play with are those that think fun trash talk like "GGEZ" and trying to have fun with "off-meta" picks are "Toxic and Trolling". These types of players 90% of losing games into awful experiences to play.

Riot so definitely focus on inting more then "toxicity" and i mean real inting not "OMG you played Full AP AMUMU and were losing... so you're inting" kinda bullshit. I mean the type where someone runs into your lane press S and gives 6-7 kills in the first 10 mins that AFK farms jungle camps for the rest of the game or when someone decides they want to sit in fountain to protect their "KDA"

Riot should reserve "toxicity" punishments for people who spam Slurs and/or telling someone something really nasty like to kill themselves.

Yeah, this. OP's mostly right, no argument from me this time. Damn. Next time post something I disagree with, I have a nitpicky asshole reputation to uphold. Take the upvote for now and practice saying stupid things.

good example, IWDs video at the start of the preseason specifically the ones showcasing the same obviously boosted win trader in like 3 videos and in that time they never got a punishment, bravo

I got banned on my main account for asking the people in the game to report someone who was inting my game something you just gotta accept. Your more likely to get banned for being sarcastic (actually against ToS) than you are for inting.

That's because asking for reports is considered harassment. Besides, number of reports per game is irrelevant. The system tracks you based off of how often you are reported in games
