Is there any valid reason for borders not to be shown to the enemy team?

Please no bs of how it "intimidates the other team" Are we talking about normals? Because if it were ranked, i'm sure you'd be aware of the people you're playing with. That also isn't stopping anyone from bringing up op.gg in the click of a button.

We're allowed to bm the other team with our badges but i'm guessing our borders are too toxic compared to that.

It's retarded. Back in the Halo 3 Xbox live days we were placed against level 50's with their badges shoved right in our faces. Did we run for the trees? NO! We are MEN. We fight to the DEATH!

Riot trying to cover their ass. They don't want you to know just how truly fucked up the matchmaking is. They also discourage the use of third party sites to track enemy rank too. I do it from time to time, but it only makes me angry.
