Ryze is a lane bully who HYPERSCALES into having insane damage and tankiness at the same time, while being extremely simple to play and offering very little counterplay (Since all his spells are targeted).

Gnar has counterplay, Riot has already said Jayce is poorly designed, Vayne has very low effective range, and Caitlyn doesn't scale well into late game.

His counterplay is his crappy range. There's a reason why people only dare take him top lane. I'm still trying to figure the reason why the majority of the LoL playerbase thinks that only AD bruisers are allowed in the top lane.

Because there isn't anywhere else they can go. Some of them can jungle, but Riot's killing that S5.

Also, 'Don't come within X units of this champion or else you lose' isn't counterplay. Especially since there are a fair amount of champions who aren't can't do a lot from outside of Ryze's effective range. IE, melee.

They have places to go but if you dare take a bruiser out of top lane you are deemed a troll. A multitude of bruisers can dominate mid laners. Xin Zhao, Fiora, Jax, Renekton to name several. Not even to mention the fact that you don't need a bruiser in a team comp. God forbid you can't take Nasus to the top lane one match.

And yes, that is counter play. That is how most anti-top laners are designed. They are usually deemed anti-top because they have some form of range. That range is countered by champions with high all-in capabilities (usually coupled with gap closers) or champions with greater range--mages.

I'd rather lane against a Ryze over a Vayne any day of the week. At least if I play smart I'll still get something out of the laning phase. And come late game he won't be tearing through our tanks like they're carries.

Ryze can be easily countered early game.

-Lulu, Kassadin, Kayle, Irelia and Jax can beat him np -If u play top lane tank, just call jungler and tower dive him for freekill.

Where or not he's balanced, he's a toxic piece of shit that's impossible to outplay as he button mashes you. I think the I speak for the majority of the community when I say good riddance.
