How can we bring Clairvoyance into viability?

Suggestions, anybody? I'm finding it less used than Clarity.

CLARITY. There's manaless champions out there, and a summoner spell that's completely useless to them is used more than one that's consistently useful.

I suggest giving Clairvoyance detection; It may seem unfair to the stealth assassins at first, but it's usually it's the support who would be forced to get the spell, and they'd be giving up Exhaust for it.

Have it reveal Stealthed champions in the radius. This will nerf champions with Stealth, but it will also allow those champions to be buffed, making their players happy.

Have it last longer. Simply lasting longer will help it's viability.

Have it reveal enemy vision tools in the area. Reveal, not disable. So you can use it to sweep for wards if you want, or see where the enemy has wards that you may not have noticed.

Also have it reveal traps, like Teemo Shrooms and Shaco Boxes. This will remove power from those champs, and make room for buffs.

Maybe also give it the passive effect of just increasing your base vision range while it's not on cooldown.

Have them use it in the LCS. The sheep will climb on board and it will spread.

Make Clairvoyance temporarily increase the range of all friendly wards on the map when you press the button.

Give it a true damage passive.

Nerf the crap out of heal/exhaust.

How to make CV a viable pick:

Change it's cooldown to 90 seconds, And make it reveal all enemy champions on the map for 2 seconds.

BOOM it's suddenly a very powerful and very important vision tool. It'd probably be picked by several champions or team comps because of it's sheer power through information.

that would make it broken

would it? TF's ult provides up to 8 seconds of true sight of the entire enemy team on about a 150 second cooldown, and gives him access to a 5500 range Teleport.

Plus, you'd have to give up, ignite, TP, heal or exhaust to take it, so I'd say it's a fair trade off. Massive map/vision knowledge, or combat advantage? Which do you want?

well thats an ult lol.....and even then its nerfed since i heard when he first came to the beta his w was the global teleport and his ult gave it the vision

Any champion inside its radius will continue to be visible for 30 seconds or so.

Remove sightstone and trinkets.

Till then there's plenty of vision.

I don't think reveal effect is a bad idea. I mean ignite also has reveal, but on top of that true damage dot and grievous wound.

I feel that as long as the blue trinket exists clairvoyance is going to always feel underpowered. Even if Riot adds more functionality it'll have to be pretty OP to be worth giving up exaust, ignite or flash for. More likely it'll just be taken out of the game or reworked into something pretty different.

Make every champion have a permanent Nocturne ult effect on their vision.

Edit: seriously though it needs a major buff or it just needs to go...why take it when the blue trinket exists? Maybe when you use it if you hit an enemy champion it can give you another charge that you have 5 seconds to use before the spell goes on CD? I dunno.

but it's usually it's the support who would be forced to get the spell,

I think you mean "it's the support who would likely take this spell."

Nobody can really force anybody to pick particular summoner spells. Midlaners often choose exhaust in certain match-ups, and some carries can take summoner 1 against cc heavy teams (and I have seen this used to amazing effect, but it's incredibly niche).

Supports take exhaust because it's the most effective spell for their role, not because they're forced to. Hell, some supports take ignite and that's perfectly fine.

Supports take exhaust because it's the most effective spell for their role,

As someone who plays support (and mid) more than the other roles, I disagree.

Exhaust is such a clutch spell with specific uses that it makes more sense to have carries take it, not the support. How does the support know the carry(ies) will react fast enough to jump onto the exhausted enemy (if at all) when the spell is used, and how do carries know the support will back them up with a well-timed Exhaust? Aside from playing with a coordinated team using verbal communication, the spell is more often wasted than put to good use. At least with Ignite, damage is dealt with or without follow-up and Grievous Wounds is nice to limit sustain in a fight, so it's not at all a bad alternative.

If the carry has Exhaust, they can use it when they are fighting at any time to gain the advantage, not just when the support is connected at their hip and having to rely on them to use it at the right moment, or at all. Heal only does so much, especially after its nerfs.

I remember way back when Clairvoyance was common to take and not at all "trolling". I loved using it for the global vision. Those were good days.

I would argue that the current Clairvoyance only needs a reduction in cooldown to be viable, along with perhaps some minor added effect.

However, I will bet Riot has no intention of ever making Clairvoyance viable again. In fact, it wouldn't surprise me if they removed it from the game in the future.

Why?

With global vision being spammed every less than a minute, that limits gank opportunities, which leads to stale laning phases. Can't have anything reducing #LCSBIGPLAYS (see: Janna, the queen of disengage, riding the nerf train to Olafville).

supports are forced to do everything tbh thats why riot limited how many wards champions can place to three since supports would be forced to spend so much on wards this was also before sightstone was made so it was even harder for supports to ward
