Normal (blind pick) high rank differences

I hit level 30 this week and started doing a few normals in between the odd bot game here and there. I avoided normal games because I didn't want to go into them without full runes and masteries. Unfortunately ever since I have I keep ending up in games with players from gold - diamond almost every game. Why is this happening? I could understand the occasional friend helping a new friend duo etc but this has been in every game and all URF games I've played.

Do I have to go and get mauled in ranked just so it stops putting me against these players? I have very few champs and just got raged at hard for not being able to jungle Graves against a team with 2x platinum and where the enemies lowest rank was silver 3. It's a bit hard to learn when every game is me being stomped on.
