Improving ganks

Just looking for tips on how to notice better ganking opportunities and how to improve my jungle route overall. Not a jungle main but I'd like to at least have a decent idea of the jungle role in general.

My go to jungle is Kindred, I start bot side buff then go wolves and gromp. If I see any of the nearby lanes are pushed in then I will immediately head over, usually by river. I pretty much repeat this for the rest of the laning phase but I feel like I'm just missing a lot of good gank opportunities. I also never counter jungle, I'm just not comfortable doing it with my level of experience.

Any tid bits from the jungle mains out there?

Not counter jungling? as kindred? that's weird...if my memory is correct one of your moves send wolf out to auto attack in a large area,so you could counter jungle and make your arena to always have the upper hand on the other jungler. I don't have much for ganks as I generally use ivern. I walk in,sorta KS but have my teammate get the kill from my E and walk out. but kindred I know(from the hard way) almost always has pressure on the map,you force your enemy to change there jungle path with your passive,as they don't want you getting marks, but that would also kinda give away your spot if your on the same side of your mark and coming to gank

Count the minions. Whoever has more will probably push.
