Why I play on a second account.
Yes I'm in bronze. And typically the usual response to me playing on an alt is "You're bronze why do you need a smurf lul", but i play on it for very different reasons than a D5 might. First of all, the game quality is so much better imo. Most people here are silver+ anyways playing on alts. Occasionally i can lane vs higher elos (once i laned vs Plat 3 Kalista one trick) which teaches me a lot about how much I need to learn and what I can copy off them to incorporate into my gameplay. Games are also generally faster, which ironically, imo, adds to the quality. Faster games usually means that the enemy team has more smurfs/higher ranked players than we do. A lot of the people who smurf are also nice enough (not sarcastic) to tell me what I need to do to improve. You learn a lot by watching VODs but i think you learn so much more by actually playing against higher elos, which I never get a chance to on my main.
Another reason why I play on an alt is because I don't enjoy playing in bots or with other bronze players when I'm practicing one certain skill. If I'm trying to CS, I'll play on an alt and sort of tunnel vision onto just the cs, and getting into the rhythm of looking at the map whilst csing. It also lets me cool off when I'm on tilt, by playing generally quieter games since most people don't really type (either because they're new or because a lot of foreign smurfs don't really talk either) and the games mean less. Plus playing normals at bronze mmr is absolutely horrendous.
