Not all abilities need to be abominations like Illaois E (just imagine what crazy things we are gonna face in the future). Just because an ability is simple, it doesnt mean it cant be interesting. In fact, it requires some setup to use well, like damaging three minions just so they get killed by successive bounces and then Q for a shitload of damages on the enemy. Also the clicking (kinda) sound and flying animation is awesome, I love using it just for that. Kindreds Q is another great example of such an amazing ability.

whats wrong with people and illaois e?

its one of the least punishing skillshots in the game. unless you prefer getting hit by a morgana q, nidalee spear or a blitz hook. most skillshots in the game give you one opportunity to dodge, and if you cant manage that you get hit by crippling cc or blown up.

with illaois e you can dodge, run out of range and kill 3 tentacles (which is really not difficult), or attack her and defend your spirit.

it actually leaves you with options to avoid the damage after youve been hit, which is quite generous.

I didnt complain about Illaois E being too strong or very annoying (it is annoying, but again, thats not the point of this thread). It is just so complex (the tooltip is a pain to read) and I feel like simple abilities like Jhins Q get a bit too few appreciation.

still you called it an abomination. i dont see why. its a rather interesting mechanic and has a lot of counterplay.

at the same time for some reason its the aspect of her kit that gets complained about the most in general. which i just dont understand.

I like Jhin's Q.

However, I think his E sucks which is the trap that opens/slows/explodes. It looks awful, and it takes too long to detonate when someone steps over it. Way too long which almost makes his E useless unless someone is on top of you, or you're throwing them into team fights.
