Manamune and Essence Reaver synergy Rip?

Manamunue , not a very popular item to begin with and they also increased the price. (just as with the zephyr, why increase the price of a unpopular item??) I dont think it still synergizes with the Essence Reaver, because users of the manamune tend to mostly cast spells and not auto attack, or at least they do auto attack but nothing to buy crit items for. Ofcourse you can buy Infinity Edge, Trinity Force etc and start auto attacking but thats not why you want to buy a manamune for. So any thoughts on this one?? Especially Jayce mains have to change their itemisation. Or was the manamune not a core item anymore on Jayce?
