Why is kayle able to deal so much damage?

AbstracT Theory··1 votes·1,496 views

I just played a game where i had 12 kills and the kayle came at me with 2 kills and bursted me down in half a second. Why is that sort of damage possible when somebody is playing super bad? it wasnt even late game. The problem i see with it was how stupidly powerful guinsoos rageblade is. That item took a stupid rework and now its impossible to play against.

League has been my favorite game for 3 years but now i fucking hate it. Everything is unfair and feels so toxic to play against. Riot has some real idiots running their balance team, that much i know.

The game lasted 38 minutes. You (Lucian) ended with 193 CS vs. Kayle's 297 CS. While there's no knowing what the CS/build/level disparities were a the not-late-game point of your fight, that's a pretty large CS gap between ADC and jungler. At game's end, Kayle had a lot of burst options. item 3146 and item 3930 both provide a targeted active damage effect. Add Q, and that's 3 separate shots without factoring in AAs. She may have had Guinsoo pre-stacked on other targets, and the Sated Devourer/E gave more on-hit damage to her AAs. Her passive wouldn't factor in too heavily, since at game's end you had probably ~120MR (Hexdrinker and Negatron were your defensive items). Max passive shred for that after landing Q + 4 AAs leaves you at ~100MR and ~60Ar.

She did have Runaan's Hurricane, though. One interaction with Kayle that people often aren't aware of is that if she has more than one target, shifting her AA focus to the second one will deal more damage to the first one due to the bolts and splash (splashes from AA target damage secondary targets, bolts apply E damage but don't splash off the secondary targets).

Other than the Runaan interaction and the slight resistance reduction, there isn't anything specifically that would've enabled Kayle to do that to you significantly faster than another champion built similarly.

kayle came at me about 15 mins in with devourer item and gunblade, she was at 2 or 3 kills i was at 12 and she just obliterated me. She spent the rest of the game zoning my entire team away from cs and i couldnt do anything

A jungle item upgraded with Devourer is 2,450g. Gunblade is 3,400g. Kayle in your game had Nashor's Tooth, which is most commonly a rush item - 1st for lane, 2nd for jungle. That's 3,000g. So at about 15 minutes, Kayle jumped you with 8,850g worth of equipment (maybe boots, putting her at over 9,000g).

~9,000/15 = ~600 gold per minute

That's roughly twice the average GPM of the top professional players (data from the first 4-5 weeks of this year's Summer splits). If Kayle had those items at 15 minutes, it's highly unlikely that she also had Guinsoo's Rageblade, which is another 2,800g. This makes your conclusion seem out of place.

I don't think Rageblade (or Kayle, specifically) had anything to do with you getting instagibbed. Any champion with that much gold that early in the game would be a monster.

Maybe you should link the match history for that game, because it doesn't show up on your account or on OP.GG, so I can't tell if you're even talking about a real match.

Most likely it was because she had a lot of CS

You're complaining about Kayle when Yasuo, Vayne, Darius, and Illaoi are in the game. Please re-evaluate yourself, especially when you lost in CS to a Kayle as an ADC, and then wondered why she did more damage than you.

cs doesnt mean a whole lot when your averaging a kill per minute those champions (except illaoi) all have some sort of counter.

CS?

Kayle is a pretty strong duelist. That being said, Guinsoos is legit overtuned and is making more than a few champs tough to deal with.

Then again Kayle has been able to do that since before nashors even had an ap scaling on auto attacks.
