I CANT WIN GAMES CUZ O MUH TROLLIN TEAMMATES!!! QQ!!!! Low level player fixation.

A lot of times many low level players will give this as an excuse. "I can't win and climb because my teammates are so bad/troll/toxic!"

And while this will be true on occasion, the reality is in low level play you should never surrender, never give up, maintain a positive attitude and work with the members of your team who are trying to be productive. I was just messing around on a smurf learning mao and here's what happened:

https://i.gyazo.com/cd1d08d632c2b6a2c20f590bbce5320c.png https://i.gyazo.com/d6d8bc28a7a3f62f33181129a40889f9.png

Do you see our Caitlyn? Lets ignore the summoner spells she took, lets ignore the items she built, lets ignore her extremely toxic attitude for which she was already punished (got the notification) and her afking for 5 minutes, and her intentionally feeding 6 deaths at one point. Just ignore all that. This was a BAD player. Period. That's not the problem. She also had a HORRIBLE attitude and she gave up on the game 6 minutes in. At 17 minutes she had 37 farm. Quite simply, this is a player who is not cut out for gold level play at all but she is ranked there currently none the less and I had the misfortune of playing with her this match. Ignore all that.

Instead focus on what you see from the other teammates. Just looking at the photos you can see the other 4 kept it calm, cool, and collected. We sat tight, we defended our tier 1 mid tower with everything we had while we sacrificed the side lanes. We farmed up, sharing what ever resources we could. We communicated a game plan to deal with our troll and make use of her feeding by making plays when she drew the attention of opposing players. We made a great baron call when 3 people went to kill the intentionally feeding Caitlyn bot lane and we took 2 inhibitor towers and 2 inhibitors with it while only sacrificing a bot lane inhibitor tower ourselves before recalling to defend as a group. This is a situation where our pure will and determination to WORK as a team overcame the huge handicap of being basically 4v6.

This is an important lesson for all low level players because it shows that no game is hopeless. If you keep your head about you and work your tail off to do everything you can do to win a match even you can overcome trolls. And yes, I know some of you will go "Yeah, but you are a diamond player playing on a smurf, there's no WAY I could do something like that, so this doesn't really apply!" To that I say, hogwash. I'm a terrible mao player, and I made plenty of mistakes you wouldn't expect from a player of my caliber. They didn't matter. Because what I did RIGHT was play my hardest, be positive, organize my team, and then execute a game plan to the best of my ability. Being a diamond player doesn't have anything to do with those qualities. ANY player can possess them. That is the lesson here. Never give up, never say die, play with a good attitude, work with those willing to work with you, and give it your all. You can't win em all, but occasionally you can do something epic just by giving it your best shot. And make no mistake, it will be THOSE games that decide your fate on the ladder.

So don't be a whiny baby, don't give up, don't play half heartedly. Give it all you've got. Every time. It will make all the difference in the world.

Best of luck on the Rift summoners and here's to hoping you never run into a player like this. But if you do, now you know what to do about it.

I've played for 6 seasons now. I've been ranked as high as Master Tier.

The truth is, as a solo player, much of the time you cannot rely on your teammates. That's true and you are correct. But more often than not the other players will WANT to participate effectively. Even if its only 52% of the time you have to play like its that way 100% of the time or you wind up falling flat on your face. No one is immune to the struggles, no one is immune to trolls, and sadly Riot does pathetically little to deter that type of action. But nothing changes the fact that if you put in the time and the work and play enough games you will see that even those circumstances can be overcome on occasion. If you can overcome them more when they happen to you than when the opposing team has it happen to them you work your way up the ladder.

Its really all about keeping a good attitude and playing your tail off 100% of the time. Never slack off. Never give it a half effort. Always give it everything and whatever success you desire can be yours.

I'm as tired and fed up with the players I get in game as any one else. Believe me, I'm probably more upset about it than you are, or any one else for that matter. The difference is in how I ACT when I get stuck in that situation. I don't panic (most of the time), I don't spam ff votes, I give it my damndest no matter what. Its this mentality that makes me a high level player and any one who chooses to adopt it can likewise become a high level player.

I envy your patience and positivity Due to also other reasons(game balancing/game market/riot's ignorance) i ve run out of both and have ended up bitter and having no fun in playing this game. As a gamer to another im gonna advise you to turn your positivity and patience elsewere(if that can be considered a correct term xD) instead of this pathetic excuse of a game. How else can i say it?It just isnt worthy of your attention

I agree with this sentiment whole heartedly. Unfortunately I am addicted to League. No matter how many times I quit, no matter how awful the game gets (and make no mistake, the game is in the worst shape its ever been in) I always come back and play more.

There is a HUGE difference between "I am a one-time master player smurfing with golds" and "I (think I am) a Silver player playing with Bronzes". (or any other "1-tier" variation) Look, I don't think I'm Challenger or Plat or even Gold honestly. But I think I could merit Silver. But I'm stuck in Bronze because I'm not an all-star level that can carry 4 other guys. What's worse, instead of "bad players" I've recently gotten a rash of AFKs. Had a game with a Yi that was CLEARLY our best player. HE was carrying, mid-game: AFK. Had a game where our team was doing well, Yasuo Mid: AFK (we STILL almost won this game, but numbers got us)

I think a LOT of people that complain about their "trash" teammates are like me in that they don't think they're destined for greatness, BUT they're (even if only SLIGHTLY) better than their current rank. Again, I TOTALLY believe a Plat can "rek" a bunch of scrub Bronzes, but I'll bet you a mid-Silver can't. (I see plenty of people with last season's Silver borders that get "pwned" in Bronze.)

Those games will happen. There is no doubt that your ranking on the latter is hugely impacted by luck and factors outside your direct ability to control. The reason for this post is more to stress the importance of always doing all the little things you CAN do that ARE in your control every game, always. You will have trolls cost you games, I do, you will have afks cost you games, I do, you will have toxic players cause dissension and cost you games, I do too.

Back in season 2 when I was a silver scrub myself the board user and Master Tier player Janna F Kennedy told me this:

In league, 40% of the time you will just automatically win a game because a teammate got fed, an enemy afked, an enemy trolled, etc. Like wise and conversely you will automatically lose about 40% of your games because a teammate feeds, a teammate trolls, a teammate afks. What determines your ranking on the ladder is how you play in the 20% of games you CAN decide the outcome of, and, since you never know until the game ends which of these 3 categories it will fall under, will you play your hardest every single time?

That bit of advice is the largest piece of information that I credit with any of the minute amount of success I've had at this game and it is absolutely true.

Its true that being dramatically more skilled than your competition will make the games more lopsided in your favor. But even I don't win 100% of the time. I lose regularly, feed regularly, and just generally play badly even in low level play. I often times get truly stomped by silver players. No joke. And I'm a diamond player. It happens because those guys wanted it more, played harder, played like better teammates and worked together better than I was able to convince my team to do. Again, you don't have to be a highly skilled player to possess those qualities, you just have to have the willpower to give it your all in every match. It will make all the difference.

gratz you're a player with potential master tier skill level smurfing in a low rank game getting carried by another potential smurfing jax. You got lucky. If it weren't for jax you all would have probably gotten shat on by the enemy team's probable smurf kappadin.

the only way to really come out of a situation like that is to hope that there are fewer smurfs on the enemy team than your own, or that there are less feeders/trolls on your own team than the enemy team.

I had a ranked match yesterday as annie, rekt the enemy mid zilean, I had was 3/0 until our AP blitzcrank support and akali top who got completely facewrecked by the enemy pantheon game him kills. our jungle xin was going full damage and no defensive items. I got focused down in teamfights and the rest of the team melted like butter. I couldn't carry them even though I knew I was better than most of them just because the enemy team was more fed and had more items and the two tanky champs we should have had instead had no defensive capabilities. Akali in champ select was all "just ban garen and I got this." but instead pantheon completely outplayed her, pink warded her shroud, and destroyed her in lane. Not only that but our akali was so toxic and butthurt that she tried to keep 1v1-ing pantheon top lane every time she respawned and kept dying. Blitz couldn't make decent pulls either and our vayne was below average at best. I know we could have won if blitz was tanky and xin had at least 2 good defensive items, but they didn't.

Here's another fun story though, My main is bronze 3, but my alt/smurf is silver 2 because of the shitty way elo/mmr works and carries over from the previous season. I know I could hit gold if I tried hard enough, but my main has been stuck in bronze since season 3 due to the horrid and absurd levels of bullshit that happen in bronze, and it's honestly utterly disgusting. That cait in your game, she should honetly have lost. She should under no circumstances have gained any LP after the shit she did. however she did get LP because you, as a team, won. that's toxic levels of bullshit on Riot's part for their backwards ranking system.

oh, btw, hope you enjoy being an ass in low elo games with your smurf as you throw off people from actually improving by using your absurdly higher level of skill to ruin the games of lower ranked players who are actually trying to climb.

The jax was no smurf. Look at his farm rate. On top of that he something like 3-7 at one point. The only smurf in that game was me. And I was playing with a pretty significant handicap on a champ I am totally unfamiliar with. We literally laid out a game plan to "hold mid at all costs and let jax farm everything. If we can get him to late game he might hypercarry." That was literally our game plan. Pure desperation to stall with our wave clear from vik and vel while I protected jax when he went any where to farm.

Please stay off the forums and out of the game. Its clear you are one of the most toxic people ever.

See my response to him. You aren't even allowed to "name and shame" yourself. I redacted my own name in my screen shot for a reason. Supposedly its because other players can then look up your account and find the player you were talking about or something like that. Buncha bs, but I guess I can understand the reasoning.

The best remedy to bad luck is to increase your sample size of games and play more. Eventually, you are right, things will turn around and that streak of bad luck will fade. No one is immune to bad luck, it happens to us all. The trick is to forget about it and keep playing your hardest and smartest every match and to practice, practice, practice then put to use the things you learned.

I'm definitely not immune to bad luck, I actually attract it pretty damn hard (my league bad luck will never beat my hearthstone bad luck though... rolling a 1/1000th of a % chance of something bad happening to me... twice in a row, fk that game!)

No one is. If it's just one team member, it can be overcome and it's important to stay focused and keep playing hard.

She can be tough. It's hard to impact the game with her on ganks, particularly pre 6, the most important time for ganking lanes. Farm intensive junglers have always struggled to find consistent success because they force a team member to have negligible impact on the game in the most important stages.

there is about a 50% occurence of the enemy team being +10k gold ahead at 20 minutes while I have a positive KDA and outfarm my lane opponent :S

Top lane is extremely hard to impact the game as a solo player. You are doing your job if you draw constant double and triple teams while farming up and staying alive despite all the aggro. That's really the best you can hope for without making an impact tp play in not lane.

In the vast majority of games top laners simply won't matter. I too used to play shy there in season 4 before her flame breathe nerfs so I know your pain.

This is cool and all, and props to you for keeping a good attitude. That is awesome. You and the other positive members of the team are definitely doing things right and you should feel good about that.

However, when people complain about poor quality teams/teammates in low elo...it's not because of a single bad apple lol. I get tons of teams with 2+ awful people on a fairly regular, albeit random basis. So, you're right that if you keep a good attitude and have 3 good teammates, you can overcome a single bad one. But that doesn't really cover situations where your other teammates are just so-so, or you have multiple tilted players on your team, etc

Your other teammates in this game were awesome, that is not the norm. When I try to work together with people and ignore toxicity, I'm lucky to not get trolled just for being positive. Basically, you said "if you keep a good attitude and 'WORK' you can overcome bad teammates, it isn't your team holding you back!" and then proceeded to talk about how you had 3 amazing teammates in this game working with you. That kind of contradicts the whole idea of a team holding you back. 75% of the other members of your team helped you overcome the situation lol

If you are good at your champ you can literally 1v5 all day long in low elo games. Provided of course you don't have multiple trolling teammates (a significant problem ever on the rise because of DQ)

https://i.gyazo.com/6a52f7c9baac20b524115ecf7127a5eb.png

That was actually in low platinum play last season. The teams only hold you back when you get stuck with a toxic premade due to DQ. An all too regular occurrence, and a big reason why most of us are now avoiding high level play and opting to play on smurfs. The worst thing to ever happen to this game was DQ.

Yeah, you can carry games 1v5 if they are 2+ tiers lower than you...but what about games that may be only a few divisions lower than your max rank / main account? That is more what I'm talking about...not smurfs.

I've never played eve at a diamond level. Highest I've ever played was to plat 1. I did that in platinum.

There is no question that a player who is dramatically more skilled than the competition can do that regularly with ease. I still see silver players do it to other silvers on a daily basis. The key is in learning to become CONSISTENT and do that every game.

I'm also talking about "not smurfs". I'm trying to teach you folks the attitude and fundamentals you need to achieve your goals. Whatever they may be. Just because you cannot do this now does not mean that you can't LEARN to do it in a months time (or more or less, depends on how much effort you put into it). It starts with playing like a proper teammate and learning to work together as a group. Regardless of the game state that particular game, are you acting like a proper and fundamentally sound teammate in it? That is the question to ask yourself.
