Can we revisit Taliyah?

Ever since patch 6.13, the change on Taliyah's w has, in my opinion, been a disaster.

I think there are people who have found her w easy to cast but the majority of users that try her abandon her after they find their w canceling and missing most of the game.

Taliyah has a 46% winrate. An option to toggle vector casting on or off could solve this. Or honestly, if riot could just watch some games of people in all elos and see how the new w casting has made casting w harder and more clunky (which is what they were aiming to fix) then we could see if the casting change was really worth it.

Her w casting was very unique and had a slight learning curve but so do other difficult champs like Riven and her auto-cancelling.

Taliyah's new w has no area circle indicator, it has no straight up-and-down option anymore, it requires walking out of range to cast if not casted in the correct range, it cancels easily, and there is a longer delay since the spell no longer casts automatically when w is pressed.

She is a relatively new champion and no one really seems to acknowledge her or care for her anymore. Shouldn't something be done to make her more loved?

Can we revisit Taliyah?

Auto-cancelling is an exploit though. Sure you might need skill to pull off an exploit, but it's still an exploit regardless.

Anyway on topic:

From my brief experience from playing Taliyah, there are 2 major problem with W:

  • The casting. It feels clunky to cast, because you need to wave your cursor around during the casting and there is a delay on top of another delay. Not to mention her kit is probably the most "wavey" kit there is (a lot of cursor moving action) already, the casting method on W can be rather problematic especially with how important it is in order to play her effectively.
  • Another problem is W's range. It always feels like the casting range which you'd feel to be natural for W, given it is to be used together with Q and E, is slightly larger than her W's current range. So there is always another delay in the combo because your Taliyah is walking into the heat of the battlefield (which she is never supposed to be in) to cast a CC that more often than not, is throwing the opponent even closer towards her, which is just weird.

ah sorry, i dont play riven but i just know she has a learning curve so thats why I compared them. I agree with your points about the w

I love the W, though a cricle would be nice as an indicator in addition to the arrow. Other than that I have no complains.

As a Taliyah main I've looked into the Taliyah win rates and seen only after 20 minute games does her win rate drop from 50% to 45% which would make me think the problem is in her late game scaling and not in the awkwardness of her w which I've probably just grown used to by now

could it also be because everyone has boots and move speed items that make it harder to land her combo? im wondering.

Even late game I manage to reliably hit my W, since it's just predictions like any other skillshot like a Cho hath knockup

She has insane damage and every time i see a good taliyah in a game, she beats the damage chart by miles. Also i agree, If she has such a low winrate it is more or less due to her late game.

I have no issue with how the vector cast feels to use, or with the lack of the straight up-down option (I rather think that the fact that Taliyah must use it in a direction helps to sell the fact that she doesn't quite have control of her powers). But I do feel that the removal of the casting lockout on her W might have been a mistake, because her E took some big nerfs as a result, and now that ability doesn't feel satisfying to use if you don't use it in a WE combo.
