Ryze is ridiculously weak right now.
Mastering champions one at a time, got to ryze and hoo boy.
q: Maybe every champion has a delay before casting spells, and I've just never noticed it before now. But the delay before casting his q has screwed me over so many times. Just enough time for someone to flash or stun or a minion to get in the way. Maybe it would be more tolerable if the range or the projectile speed was more reasonable, but it feels like for how little it does, it's way too unreliable
w: A 1 second stun.
... Are you kidding me? THIS is ryze's signature ability? A 1-1.5 second, single target stun? Let's compare.
Annie: single target/aoe 1.25-1.75 Ahri: single target 1-2, walks towards you. Ekko: AOE 2.25 all ranks Leblance: 1.5, all ranks Veigar. AOE 1.5-2.5,
And half of those champs have movement on top of their stuns.
E- Does this even do anything anymore? It strikes me as a very weak short range aoe attack. Mobafire still talks about orbs bouncing but I don't see that. Didn't it use to bounce all over the place? Reducing mr is useful if you want to risk whoever you're chasing escaping before you can land prison, and if you can reliably land the q in the midst of minions/ the enemy team.
R. The movement speed boost is so useless in this mobility controlled game it's insulting. The free CDR makes me want to not buy items like frozen heart or Iceborn gauntlet anymore since now I have 30% wasted CDR, and the only other options are to buy support items like zekes or righteous glory, go full ap, or buy non mana tank items, so it feels like I'm suboptimal no matter what way I build.
Passive. Unreliable. Maybe if I could save the stacks instead of having them decay, but there's no guarantee the passive will trigger when I need it. The most likely scenario is me being in combat, blowing all three of my spells, waiting 3 seconds for the q and e to come off cooldown, hoping I'm still alive, blowing another q and e, finally triggering the passive, and again hoping I'm still alive at that point.
Maybe I'm doing something wrong here, but it seems like the current Ryze is an immobile, unreliable piece of garbage.
