Thoughts on Hecarim
Brainstorming on Hecarim changes to make him stronger in the meta.
Hecarim is the hard engage god but, due to item changes, he has fallen off hard. Tank items and damage items alike have been tooled to synergise with others of their like, making offtank builds less than ideal. This plus the nerfs on triforce hit his build path hard. I actually love all the item changes so I am in no way proposing that gets changed.
I'd rather retool his kit. The current highest winrate hecarim build in plat+ elo (according to champion.gg) is Trinity force, dead man's plate, mortal reminder, maw of malmortius, and youmuu's ghostblade. Is Hecarim's tank synergy so bad that hes really more viable as an assassin?
My idea: His current W/"spirit of dread" lasts 4 seconds dealing 20-60 +20% ap magic damage per second and giving him 20% damage taken by enemies health gain.
To make tank hecarim more viable than assassin hecarim, let's make W a toggle!
At max rank, "spirit of dread" is nearly equivalent in damage to a level 1 rammus ult. I think the damage is fine where its at but let's tune down the healing to maybe 7.5%. Assuming capped CDR (which most hecarim builds aim to achieve) old W has 30% up time; so, our ~30% of original scale heal keeps hecarim's sustain nearly equivalent to before but distributed differently.
I think this aoe damage and more spread sustain would incentivize hecarim players to itemize tanky to get the most of this burn and heal over time.
This is a big change but I'd love for it to get a chance!
