S- and S for supports...

So I have seen a lot of threads about the grading system being broken for supports. So I decided to test out some games last night on this account and both games I got s+ and An s. So I don't get how it is so tough to get an s as a support it seems like you might just be bad at support and should probably find a new role.

I agree that most people complaining about support S's are bad at support.

That said, 'on this account' makes me think theres another account out there (perhaps higher ranked) which would mean you're just outclassing people which makes S+'s somewhat easier to come by than when you're roughly at an appropriate MMR.

I also glanced at your match history, and you've been playing a lot of support recently. Getting 2 S's out of your past 20 support games would probably be consistent with people finding S ranks particularly hard on support.

Furthermore, although I think the point about many people being bad at support is really the biggest factor (I pretty consistently get S- on janna), Riot has mentioned they're going to tweak grading for supports next patch, so I guess Riot with all their extra data and broader view on things (compared to the vocal minority of the forums) also agree that support grading as it is currently is a bit off, and so they're addressing it.

The ranking system is champion specific and playstyle specific, if you are a support you are able to stay relevent through kills and assists (you would want the carry to have the kills.) and you giving CS over to the carry leaves you with close to no gold compared to the rest of the team. The ranking system is ranked by:

Gold Creepscore Kills Assists Damage dealth/taken (participation ^) warding? Not sure.

Even if I have an 85%-90% kill participation on playing Zilean, I don't get even an S because I have 0 CS, 0 damage because I built only CDR, mana and maxed my E-W lastly is my Q. Unlike Annie support, Brand support, etc, etc. So the issue really isn't the players, it is the ranking system. At least this is the case for me, because I play Zilean support much differently than other people do, and it is currently my main. And has been my main for quite some time . . . still only one blue out of three to get rank 7. -Sigh-

Is this including ARAM grading?

Cuz I think the ARAM grades for support could use some adjustments.

or you just worked the system regardless of if you actually are good at support or not.

You took tons of kills on both bard and zyra. People complain because in a support role you are ideally not suppose to take ANY kills and would instead allow the carries to kill.

Its always very easy to get S on supports when you take kills. But in a perfect game, you wound have 0 and the system punishes you for that.

Try playing those 2 champions again and do not take a single kill, see if you can easily get S.

I think the biggest factor into getting an S at all is not the number of kills you get, but your assists, lack of deaths, CS, and how many objectives (i.e. drag, towers) you get. Kills are not the most important factor in the game.

I think everyone can agree that if you watch worlds they will end with like 10 kills per team, but everyone of us can agree we end with about 50 kills per game.

I once went 2/2/21, participated in 4 dragons, got credit for 6/9 tower kill assists and had 45 CS from banner minion CSing, and placed about 25 green wards and 2 punks with 7 enemy wards killed, enemy team surrendered at ~30 minute mark

S- ... I was playing Janna and both of those 2 deaths were resulting in 4-5 assists per the fight

The grading system is a little to strict for supports, I get A+ to S- regularly and I watch people who did worse than me on my team but have more kills get the S+, like a 20/8/2 quin who had only 2 objectives assisted in taking and 140 CS got an S+ that game and was constantly out of position and just picking off kills after a fight

The grading system does need to be looked into
