Matchmaking and it's flaws

So in my last game I was placed vs a Plat Ori and a Plat Lucian, I am in Gold 4 ( Wtf), They didn't have the best W/L ratio but that doesn't really mean much.

So here is my problem with the way matchmaking currently works, by team MMR.. Meaning if someone goes on tilt or has numerous bad games their MMR falls a shit ton and they are then viable to be placed with lower divisions. We had 4 golds and 1 silver. they had 3 golds and 2 plat's meaning if the plats were just having a bad day their skill level is still way better than the gold. Why the hell is matchmaking with other divisions still a thing at lower tiers, If I'm gold 1 I don't mind getting placed vs plats cause obviously I need to improve my skill level to obtain platinum, but if I'm low gold and I'm going vs plats, isn't that a little too much too fast? I should be getting placed vs other mid golds/high silvers, not low plats. Needless to say the Ori wrecked me, not cause I underestimated her but simply due to the fact that her skill level was obviously no where near mine, and this is where I get pissed. I shouldn't even be placed vs a Plat.

TL;DR Riot should just fix the ranking system so where lower tiers of a division don't have to face other higher divisions. It's even more toxic than people smurfing.
