So how about that Yorick Rework?

So there I was, doing my Solo Queue thing, deciding to play Mundo. All is Well, Mundo can tank basically most things, I'm pretty sure I'll manage this game... Yorick And then this guy showed up and ruins my day.

Needless to say, I lost through no effort on this guy's part. He's safe, he's strong, and there continues to be no counter.

Riot, I'm not mad. I'm not one of those guys who will scream at you in rage for not doing what I want. I am, however, unhappy that Yorick has not only continues to exist in his current state of power and unhappy about the fact that I can't do anything about it in game.

So Riot, my friends. I know you're busy. I know you've been doing a whole lot of work. Worlds is going on, you just reworked Sion, you've got a lot of Preseason 5 on your plate. I appreciate your hard work. You're awesome, and I wish your continued success...

But please... Please... DO SOMETHING ABOUT YORICK.

Think of the Poros.

CLARITY EDIT: This is not a 'How do you counter Yorick' thread, btw. Everyone knows that's impossible. This thread calls to attention the serious lack of conterplay (old news), and that we're still waiting for something to occur in that regard.

Yorick is not in a healthy gameplay space, because you can't get close enough to hurt him, he can sustain his way back if you do, and he can hurt you really fast, all while just standing outside your turret range and watching you suffer as you're surrounded by ghouls.

The number of meaningful choices given to you is reduced to 'hope that your jungler shows up and helps you kill him'.

This is not balanced. This is not healthy, and the moment people remember that he's overpowered as crap, he'll dominate the scene again.

EDIT2: For the record, Xelnath was the last guy to talk about Yorick Rework. It was over here.

I was gonna post a similar thread (Only much less whiney, basically asking for help on how to deal with Yorick).

I seem to be unable to deal with him, I'm okay with him beating me in lane, that's okay, that's what lane bullies do, but even if I manage to go even, he outscales me in teamfights, it's like the Lulu all over again, except Lulu actually has to rely on her teammates to do something. I have tried several things already, from plain outscaling him (Wukong with a flask and teleport) to trying to beat him in lane via outsustain (Cho'Gath) to trying to outharass him (Lulu and Swain). It doesn't work. I literally don't know to how handle him in fights OR in lane.

Dude, you were playing Mundo. Mundo loses lane to just about any champion of equal skill level. Mundo is the posterchild for the "Lose lane, win game" tactic. Yorick is the exact opposite, he's "Win lane, lose game". As devastating as Yorick is during the laning phase, his teamfighting is some of the worst. His only hope is to shut down the enemy laner so hard during the laning phase that they can't contribute to teamfighting later on, sort of like not letting a Nasus farm.

Besides, he's just about the best counter to ranged champs in top lane right now while still being melee. Without him holding them in check, top lane would become a ranged lane. And no one wants that.

We have a Ryze, Vladimir, Nidalee, Vayne, Teemo & Lucian top meta going on now, let Yorick be the way he is and trash these range asses for us.

You're kidding right? I can tell you the 2 things you need to beat Yorick with just about anyone in the game. 1) Ignite. 2) A bush. Walk in a bush and his ghouls drop their aggro, they wont aggro to you again unless you are the closest enemy to them, even if you are beating on Yorick in the process.

If you are having that much trouble, play Trundle against him. Their deaths heal you. Walk in a bush, walk out and get healed. Riven can gap close, combo, stun and walk away before he can do anything. Did I mention to stop his ghouls you just have to walk into a bush? Nunu can nom the ghouls for health. Always nom the ghoul that gives him lifesteal and he'll never heal in your lane. A good Nasus can pretty much one shot each ghoul, always focus the one that heals him first so he gets no lifesteal and thus no sustain in lane while you passive heal+stack your Q all at once.

There are so many ways to beat him, but the easiest is to walk into a freakin' bush. Take ignite, get a bush, and learn how to play. Yorick is NOT a hard lane to win, you just have to THINK about how you can avoid the ghouls, or use them to your own advantage.

Lol! This whole post made me laugh. As a Yorick main through out all of season 4, let me just tell you something about him that a lot of top laners don't think about. Everyone says, "Is Yorick OP?" or "Yorick walks into a bar. There is no counter". Yorick is OP...IN LANE. He is a very good top laner during the laning phase. He gains these advantages by out-leveling his opponents and out-sustaining them. He is very annoying but his weakness in lane is that he is a very squishy in the early game. That's why Yorick pokes with his Omen of Famine and Omen of Pestilence. If his laner gets close to him to fight him, he Q's them and walks away because he doesn't want anything to do that. Yorick has a strong laning phase and a strong mid game, however he starts to fall off as the game goes on. Yorick is one Top Laner that cannot carry a game. He just can't do it. He doesn't have the kit to do so. I mean unless your opponent is a Dick-for-brains and feeds you 5 kills in the first 10 minutes and you have 50 cs on him, then sure. A lot of Top Laners (Olaf, Darius, Garen, Tryndamere) have the burst, the damage, and the tankiness to do so. While Yorick is capable of putting out a ton of damage, his damage comes overtime with his ghouls. Someone like Olaf that builds pure attack speed, CDR, and tankiness can Reckless Swing someone multiple times can end someone in just a matter of seconds. Yorick is a strong duelist and can still win 1v1s, but he isn't as useful as the late game continues. He is a team dependent champion. In this current Meta, he isn't very good. The best way to buid him now to help his team is to get a Manamune and then basically go Support Tank with CDR. He becomes like Leona in the late game, but with more damage and not as much CC. If you ult the ADC and you stay in the front line and peel for the ADC, you can seriously turn the tides of a fight. But like I said you are basically another tank support. To recap, Yorick is strong in lane but once the laning phase is over, he starts to fall off and he doesn't have the damage to do anything really significant. He can be fight changing, but he isn't GAME changing. And you were talking about playing Mundo againt him. Seriously once Mundo hits 6, he becomes extremely hard to kill, even for Yorick. Mundo outscales Yorick because Mundo's tankiness is very, very good as the game goes on! Yorick doesn't have a dominant trait. If you go League of Legends and look at his Champion info, his damage, tankiness, and ability power are all the same. He doesn't have a dominant trait to make him something that can destroy another team. If you're interested, here is my build I use on him: Manamune (will become Muramana), Frozen Heart, Locket of the Iron Solari, Spirit Visage, Mercury's Treads, and Randuins Omen. Like I said, you become more of a Support Tank, but with more damage. Just remember, Yorick will be a pain in lane, but he won't be as much of a threat in the late game. I hope this helped you. If you go against one, you'll make way more of an impact on the game as a whole than he will.
