My Thoughts on the Current State of League of Legends.

This is a very long post, if you don't read it all it's no biggy. If you have any of your own opinions of your own and/or agree with what I've said. Let me know! I would love to hear other players thoughts on the current state of the game!

Rito got me like... [slayer-jinx-unamused]

Anyway, let's kick this off with assassins.

Being an ADC main, assassin's are the absolute bane of my existence. While I understand their purpose (and being public enemy #1 certainly doesn't help). there is often one that ends up standing out. Up until the last few patches it was Rengar. One-shotting squishies with practically zero counter play and almost no risk. When I think of assassins I think of a hero who is high risk, high reward. A hero who kills a single target using spells which require you to land them all and combo them correctly. I think of spells that have high base damage and long cooldowns. But when one of these assassins misses spells I feel they shouldn't be able to kill the target unless they are really fed.

What brought me to post I was playing a game as Jhin yesterday and a Zed manages to kill me from 100%-0% (1600hp) with a double E, two autos and Thunderlords. He missed his Qs and I QSS'd his ult and duskblade. What's up with that?

One of my biggest problems right now is with Zed, his W passive AD and AD scalings to be precise. With all the latest item changes does he really need that bonus AD on his W? BoTRK is no longer a core part of his build, Youmuu's now gives 65 AD rather than the 30 it used to give, Black Cleaver also gives 15 more ad than it used to. With the current common build at full build he can have 300-325 bonus AD + Runes then with his W at rank 5 he can have up to 400-450 in bonus AD now add his base AD to that plus red pot and he has a total of 600+ AD. His passive AD also synergises well with Thunderlords giving him even more TL damage. With 400 AD and level 18, he can do 400 damage with it. Which then stacks into his ult damage. You can't tell me that's not ridiculous right?

I think assassins should be among the harder heroes to play, and those who take the time to learn and master these heroes should be rewarded for their efforts by being able to style on other players with their skills. When a Zed or someone kills me, I should be thinking "Wow, that guy is good." or "I just got rekt." rather than "Yeah, that's balanced, Kappa." or "Where's the counterplay to that?" and feeling as defenceless as Scuttlecrab when a jungler comes looking for Devourer stacks..

Ok to Top laners/Junglers

What's with all the top laners and junglers murdering me when they are building primarily defensive items? What's with the Poppy wrecking me with just Frozen Fist? What's with the Nautilus killing me with Sunfire and Zz'rot? What's with Tahm being Tahm? I thought the tanks in this game were supposed to soak damage, skill shots, initiate teamfights and CC targets so their carries can kill those targets. What happened? Why does everything do so much damage? Send help! I used to believe you built damage to do damage...

After talking with others and thinking about what has been discussed I have come to the conclusion that the damage it justifiable. I still have some concerns about Poppy and all this Zz'rot Banner stuff though.

To bans.

If we are going to have so many strong champs running around I believe we are going to need more bans or something. There is no room for personal bans anymore. I can no longer afford ban that bogie champion who just tilts me off the face of the Earth when they are on the enemy team. I'm too busy banning Poppy, Tahm, Zed, Nidalee, Udyr, Kog'Maw, the list goes on... Not only that but with the ever increasing roster I feel 6 bans no longer cuts it with a roster on 129 heroes.

Now last but not least towers..

What's up with these towers shooting spitballs at my enemies and I? Aren't I supposed to feel safe next to my turret? Why am I being dove at level 3? Why can I tank so many turret shots when I have no defensive items mid-late game? The turret damage is pathetic and what's up with these laser turrets? I thought they were supposed to hurt more than standard turrets... Dives should be risky, hence why they are called dives.. But with the current damage turrets put out you can dive at levels as low as 3 and get out safely with, or sometimes, without flash.

Anyway, that's all I can think of right now.

TL/DR

  • Current state of assassins feels unhealthy
  • Zed is OP.
  • Some Top Laners/Junglers doing a lot of damage when primarily building defence.
  • MOAR BANS!!
  • Turrets are too weak.

Leave your thoughts in the comments!!

On the top laners thing, it's because it doesn't take much to break a glass cannon.

Well to be fair, the main weakness of most ADC's is being caught alone. This is correct. Bear with me as I try to explain why:

A shining example of this was some game I played like a week ago or so, I was playing Udyr (yeah I know scumbad me) and caught Kog'Maw all alone 4 times, and melted him like butter each time. On the flip side, each time he caught me with his support he melted me like butter , why? Because I couldn't interupt his dps since his support was interrupting me. (I lost that game btw).

This is how more or less every adc works, since you build 0 resists and generally aren't so mobile, you need someone there to resist for you and keep you going or you simply melt, not only because the tank has damage but primarily because the tank has reliable cc that will shut you down.

And this is how it should be.

Consider this:

If an ADC could solo duel a full tank/juggernaut/bruiser (very unlikely unless fed, vayne or kalista), would there really be any point in playing anything else but adc? On the contrary,, I feel adc are almost to strong considering how popular double and tripple adc comps are becoming and how strong they are proving to be.

Aside from that I'm all for the extra bans.

Edit:

TLDR the reason you feel they are doing alot of damage is because you are playing a glasscannon with low hp and resist, hence the term. You kill fast, you die fast.

They should fix items/kits to allow more outplay I agree

Zed missing Q's/e's and still killing ADCs is kinda silly just how ADCs lategame 2-3 shotting zed is kinda silly

I call the current state of the game "the game of extremities". Take a sorta harsh factor, and multiply it by 1000.

Tanks are now super tanky. DPS now deals tons of damage. Because of that, baiting becomes increasingly difficult. One death = even harsher costs than dying once botlane. For those who has played a good deal of botlane, you know what I'm talking about. The game is focused more on how quickly, not well, you mash buttons. If you are behind, you are super behind. If you are ahead, you are super ahead. In-betweens are rare, but eventually gets overridden by super ahead/behind by small mistakes. Slightly snowbally champs become very snowbally. Super snowbally champs spiral out of control the moment they get a tiny lead. What are turrets? Buildings for show?

RIP strategy, or just hello extreme games? Looks like Rito wants to bring the "competitve experience" into normal games as well, to make sure everyone "has fun".

Either way, I don't like it.

It's not much a problem with assassins (some like Zed are still op, i agree tho) but more like a problem with the AD itemisation in general. Ad champions have too much possibilities when you compare to ap casters and tanks.

I mean that probably because your an adc main and you're probably biased but you forgot too mention that, since the season 6 changes adc can go in ANY lane without any problems and even jungle, that's evern more bullshit than the assassin meta.

All of this because since the juggernaut + adc rework patch, the AD items got way more power and diversity than the tank or the AP items.

a typical zed build is almost at 600 AD. 570ish. so he gets about 450 bonus ad from items and his passive.

My only main problem is towers being weak and most tower dives with champs at half battling you under tower for 20 seconds and coming out alive. Also towers at half health should get a buff to do more damage and have increase attack speed or at 35% health when attacking champs.

As for bans i think each team should have one extra ban so 8 bans total. Main reasons against 10 bans is because whoever is first pick on both teams when selecting will have more power when picking first pick it gives power back when first pick was good and their counter play stronger.

I feel assassins are fine at the moment and I find it funny that you complaining about them when your a adc main. Assassins jobs are to kill the carries and do it fast. But champs like zed and talon do need nerfs since the introduction to item 3147

Then theres item 3512 this only become a thing recently because of the recent builds for udyr which was item 1402 item 3009 item 3025 item 3512 item 3742 then everyone went nuts and started using it. I believe its that spawn additional minions should not be in the game and I want it removed or reworked to do something new. Nerfing would make the item not playable because as we came guess it would be bad after the nerf.
