Swain vs Yorick. Is this intented?

So I was vsing a Yorick top lane as Swain. When I used any spell on his minions it said I dealt around X magic damage and it took about a sixth of their health however when I auto attack one it would say how much my AA did and regardless of their health they die instantly.

Is this intended so Yorick's minion aren't killed by AoE spells? This actually made the match up extremely difficult for me as swain since I couldn't deal with them when when we would fight, however when he didn't have them I would win the duel decisively.

Yes they have AOE resistance so 1 spell doesn't kill all of them in one go and pretty much gut his damage output by half.

Edit: I think heimer turrets and Malzh voidling have that too

Try fighting Ahri as Malzahar if every time she taps q you lose basically lose an ability.
