What is shaco?

Is shaco an assassin? His only burst is his auto attack lol. His passive is supposed to be his main burst (130% crit) but its too weak. To me it seems more of a bruiser ability because you can proc it more often. Is shaco a bruiser than? Well clearly not considering his e ability is useless if played like a bruiser. Not just that he gets out scaled by every other bruiser. Shaco is really weak, in my opinion top 5 worst champions (gets out scaled by bruisers and assassins, has to be really ahead to even burst down a weak adc). Can anyone tell me what is he supposed to be and how should I play my main.. Im not sure what riot is thinking but its clear that old shaco was way harder to play yet way more rewarding if you put time into playing him. He was perfectly balanced as he was hard to play not too op and required skill. He was never banned or picked in LCS and that shows that there were always better champs yet they reworked(nerfed him) and made him noob friendly. Not sure what was the point of this. Anyway I would be grateful if someone could help with this situation, I appreciate the comments.
