I use to play back in s4 and took a break at the beginning of s5. My question is about starting jungle.
Why is it the Meta now to start with your Grump or krugs instead of starting your blue or red buff? What is the benefit? Doesn't it make more sense to get blue or red still? ELI5
Dryditch2 votesYou generally like to start with one of the smaller buffs because they do less damage in total, and because you get a helper buff for clearing other camps. You take Red/Blue second, and then move on. In general, starting at a buff is bad because your clear time is increased.

starting red/blue is still a good idea. Krugs/Gromp first helps you clear the rest of your jungle faster though.
Alakalzam1 votesI know one reason to start at Krugs is the stun effect you get when you smite the large one. This reduces the damage you take during your clear since you can stun the large monsters. It's probably the same for gromp. The bonus you get from the smite (poison armor I think...not sure) help with your clear.
Dreadlocks1 votesPpl like to start golems or Krugs for the buff. Starting blue or red doesn't give you anything to help clear the rest of the jungle.
The Deckowner1 votesgromp/krug is usually better cause the buff helps u clear jg camps, while their position is close to the lane ur laner can go back to lane sooner after the leash. also they have less hp so it will be easier to take them down and u will take less dmg and ur laners will finish leash faster.
abother thing to take in consider is u deal much less dmg when u are lv1 and fighting the stronger monster(buffs) isnt a good choice atm.
Vesarixx1 votesThe smite bonus helps with your first clear, red and blue still benefit your clear but you don't need to smite them to get the benefit.

Vesarixx1 votesDepends on who you're playing, if you start krugs you might want to go to raptors then to red so you can get the health return from smiting it, if you're starting gromp you will want to just go strait to blue.
