It wasn't a direct one, sure, but it's the biggest nerf he's gotten...ever.
Besides, simply being annoying to fight doesn't warrant nerfs. By no metric is he deserving of them.
Probably after bad players learn how to play against him and realize he isn't that oppressive.
Or just learn to play against him.
