Can we get some context on the Yasuo nerfs on the 5/17 PBE update?

5/17 PBE Update

"Steel Tempest (Q) duration for stacks of steel tempest lowered from 10 to 6 seconds."

&

"Sweeping Blade (E) cooldown changed from 0.5/0.4/0.3/0.2/0.1 to 1/0.75/0.5/0.25/0."

EDIT: I understand the context and reasoning behind the Q nerf. However, I do not understand why Riot is nerfing the E again, and would like more context and information as to why its being nerfed (again).

Every Yasuo nerf are deserved, no context needed.

Both changes were long overdue and I have m7 yas on this account.

There is no reason why a Yas player should be able to abuse his E to both engage, evade, and escape in lane. It completely made Yas a braindead champion because anyone could just abuse his mobility in lane to safely farm. Yas still gets all his mobility, just not in lane and that is more than fair.

Now he can't go into most melee matchups and instantly zone them from farm by holding on to a tornado for 10 seconds. It actually lets toplaners be toplaners instead of having to play the game like theyre up against a quinn. They can now have more time to farm without him dashing aimlessly and with him zoning them from farm for too long.

Here's context: Yasuo is not OP, but when he's in the game you have to play around him in a way that isn't fun, isn't rewarding, and doesn't even work because he can just kill your (probably dumb) teammates. Playing against Yasuo is a grind with no assurances of victory forthcoming. These changes decrease his window of power from "seriously, I can do my tornado whenever" to "I better use my tornado soon, or else."

Sure.

In 7.9 crit items got buffed (specifically Zeal and IE prices lowered) which was an indirect buff to Yasuo

Also in 7.9 the tank class update happened which shifted defenses more towards resistances while nerfing the armor pen on BC and LW to compensate. The % armor pen on Yasuo's ult was unchanged however which was yet another buff

What do you know, also in 7.9 they change GA to include 40 AD which makes it fantastic on Yasuo who picked up an early GA anyway.

Add all these up and it pushed Yasuo over the edge. His win rate spiked by 3-4% (depending on which site you use) in one patch with no direct changes at all.

Oh My GAD DOUBLE THE COOLDOWN at rank one. SOUNDS TERRIBLE... till you see that it's a .5 second addition at rank one, and decreases every rank thereafter. Yasuo is currently one of the best performing top laners right now, despite being banned like hell. The champ is still broken. .5 seconds to a dash is going to put him in the trash?

Good one. 2 second flat across all ranks it what it should be, and still that sounds dirty to me.

Looks like an attempt to increase counterplay against him. Might be because they're worried that in his current state he'd be permabanned if 10 bans rolled out today, so they're making some counterplay adjustments now to make him less likely to wind up there. As always, if he's too weak afterwards, he'll probably get some other buff.

Don't you usually max E on Yasuo in lane? Cooldown's probably to hit that a bit.

Well deserved Yasuo nerfs! PRAISE!

No need to downvote them just for asking an honest question.

Yasuo has always had clear weaknesses and strengths, being healthy or not is another issue and this isn't aimed at that. It won't make you feel any better playing against him and he won't feel any better to play.

Certainly a valid question as to both: "Why now?" and "Why the E now?"

I used to main Yasuo. And i will tell you. Nothing in Yasuo's kit is problem but his mobility. When i lane against him, i find his mobility too much. I can hold double crit. I can hold hard CC. I can hold high dmg-armor shred ult. But i cant hold mobility. League has gone too far in terms of mobility. The problem with Yasuo top is, without a doubt his superior mobility to any of toplaners. Armor shred is not a big problem since he gets it only on crits. Yes, he gets 100% crit, but he wont get it while he is in the laning phase (he will, if he is braindead and goes PD + cloak, which will leave him at 85-90 AD since every good Yasuo will use a 29% AS rune setup. Thus his crits with his ult would deal 150-200 dmg max). But reworking his E totally and removing it's mobility would be a huge nerf on Yasuo and it would put him out of meta. We dont want it, since there are too much trash champions rn. As i said before, this game has gone too far in mobility creep. Either reworking mobility on every single champ (which won't happen never or not soon) or giving his E static cooldown(meaning removing target cooldown, and instead giving E cooldown with 5-6 seconds) would make him healthly(er).

I would say it makes so yasuo can't win trades as easily early by just doing a drive by in the enemy creep wave. Now when you use it the opponent has a little more time to respond.

It's not like it doesn't make sense. And 1 second isnt what I would really call much of a cooldown.
