I just saw a post about how to Support.
Someone was playing a ranked game as a support and did not know that supports don't take cs. I think the new player system is long over due for an update. Especially sense its twice as easy to get to level 30.

Supports have items that generate gold when your ADC kills minions. Learn to use them...I do when I go support. If you're peeling for your ADC, the mastery to trigger 3 gold when hitting an enemy champ should be used. Assists from a good ADC will generate you some gold as well.
If your ADC is based, you should then take CS to prevent the lane from being over-ran and you losing a turret within the first 5 minutes. If your ADC is on their way back and your still CS'n, change targets so your ADC can come in and get the gold from kills and you get some exp. Supports SHOULD utilize the EXP quint if you're going to be rolling with a premade so you get SOME exp from your ADC's cs...
If you can't follow these simple, and helpful rules...well, then your team comp is instantly screwed. Point, case, game. If you don't want to be starved as a support...then you need to be extremely aggressive as a support and poke/peel your ADC's targets so you get KPA gold as well. If your ADC rages at you, then go support top and let him/her lose the lane since they wanna be a dumb ass. Realistically, a support should roam everywhere when assistance is needed to better aide your team for the victory. Supports shouldn't have to stick to bottom lane only. Team should learn to roam when least expected to assist in KPA scores to get those S's.
I know all of this. A player entered a ranked game not knowing most of this. I think that hints the new player system sux ballz.
Well I mean support is the role most people don't like to do it seems, not everyone plays it. Bot games don't teach you how to support, they don't really teach you much except how your champ works and they give you practice cs'ing
You learn more from playing actual games against actual people
And thus we need a better new player system.
And thus we need a better new player system.
We'd need a player system that actually teaches new players how each role works and how team comp works, rather than throwing them in against random bots with other players who will pick random champions
Exactly.
except those "roles" are "defined" by "meta" and "meta" "changes" when the "pros" study the "patches" and determine who's "op" which "defines" the new "meta" which wasn't the "meta" you played "yesterday" so "tldr"
your point is invalid.

..The 5 roles.........have literally been in the game since the game started? Like, they aren't even exclusive to this game, other games use them? I...fail to see what you are getting at here.
Like you even HAVE to queue up for one of those roles....so why would it be 'invalid' to have a system that teaches newer players how each role works?
i played league at a netcafe when mord was fashionable & we didnt have anyone complaining about "supports" or "stealing cs". we just played to have a good time.
yall take ranked too seriously. so do i sometimes but i try not to let it spill over to forums.

Okay, that's great that you had a good time. The rest of us would rather play our designated roles and it has nothing to do with ranked.
Once again, there are 5 roles, each with a different job, and you have to queue up as one of them in order to play.
Sometimes with my group of friends we like to dick around and have a fun game instead of actually playing our roles. But usually we like to play the way we are actually supposed to play.
Also, ranked is supposed to be more serious? Normals are casual, ranked you are playing to, well, rank up but also for rewards. The better your rank, the more rewards you get, so it is understandable why people would be more serious when playing their ranked games..
there are 5 roles
that's where you're wrong.
you have to queue up as one of them to play
again, inaccurate and this is why dynamic queue is a huge problem.
sometimes i play league
LoL
And thus we need a better new player system.
We dont. Support not taking CS is just a pro play meta which is unfortunately transitioned into non pro play. We should not impose meta on new players, but let them explore new strategies and ways to play. Maybe we finally get rid of those stupid stereotypes that only support should ward and that support shouldnt take CS. Support should take CS if its gonna help him reach their power spikes. New players mostly get repeled by game if it tries to impose certain rules of gameplay. Everyone should learn game his way, explore his own strategies, test his own builds and grow and improve on his mistakes.

This is a terrible attitude to take. There's breaking the meta, and then there's breaking the game. One of them involves unconventional strategies within a set dynamic of expectations (acceptable), while the other involves ignoring basic fundamental principles that dictate the rules of the game (unacceptable).
Imagine, for example, if some random soccer player decided "you know what, screw FIFA's rules, I want to grab the balls with my hands and throw it around". How long do you think that player would last on a professional team. Or even on some random minor league team? Or, hell, in some backyard scrimmage game with friends? It's unacceptable in any situation, because that's not how the game is played.
As an online game, League of Legends has specific unwritten rules that, while a certain degree of flexibility is allowed, there are some things that are not. 90% of the playerbase follows them because that's how the game is supposed to be played. Without these rules, a randomly chosen group of individuals with no connection to each other could never manage to perform a task (such as playing a game of League) with any degree of accuracy.
The difference is key: you're talking about a League with no rules at all, and I'm talking about a League with a strict (though loosely interpreted) set of guidelines. Getting back to the original point, supports should only take cs when the ADC is not in lane. In addition to their gold income item, supports will have enough money to make an impact in the game while maintaining minimal cs.

Except Support items are designed so that they get gold income without having to cs. Unless adc's start building support items in some new meta, their only way of getting gold is cs and kills. Suports should not cs when their adc is there, at least during the laning phase. Later in the game do whatever you want, but during the laning phase your adc needs the cs. Your items will get you gold, and if you get your adc fed you will also do well (as long as you don't feed).
You could take cs, yea, to add onto the gold income you are already getting, except then you screw with the player you are supposed to be helping and you actually weaken them, so there's that.
[slayer-jinx-wink]
And before you ask, I'm a support main.
After a whikle, supports do need to CS in order to get mid/late game power
Not really. I mean you can have 4 cs as Sona late game and be fine. It sure does help. But its not needed imho.
reported if a support with
does not take cs.
They were sona they said.
personally imo intentionally starving your support is a dumb idea.
It's only a dumb idea if your ADC doesn't know wtf they're doing. If they know what they're doing then I'm gonna give them as much gold as I can, I can survive on minimal gold so long as they do their job.
imo it's a dumb idea . "intentionally". some supports play that way which is fine but ffs it shouldn't be a rule.
if you both spend the 350 for ancient coin with bandit mastery mostly i'm just tired of hearing adc's talk about their cs feed botlane and leave the jungle no way to push.
if you both cs you can push to tower fairly quick then roam top while jungle mans tower. the adc, by nature, will out-cs the support anyway.
I'm not sure why people are downvoting, it seems most people agree with me.
Totally agree.
Would love to see an expansion of the tutorials. Given that support is an official class through champ select, some kind of explanation would be great
Well said.
Please explain to me how I'm wrong?
There are 5 basic roles. Support, ADC, Mid, Top, and Jg.....please explain to me how this is wrong? You literally have to queue up as one when you go through draft...You are lvl 30, you should know better, get it together. Do you have ANY knowledge of this game? Any? ANY basic understanding?
Again, you have to queue up for them to play, that is not a false statement, you literally have to. Go try out dynamic queue and you'll see what I mean. Once again, you are lvl 30, you should know better, get it together. And if you pick fill, you get put into one of the 5 basic roles, so either way, you are playing Support, ADC, Jg, Mid, or Top.
Also where did I say "sometimes I play league"? Now you are just changing my quotes, way to show how much of a baby you are :) What, can't come up with a good rebuttal so you start changing up my quotes and hope nobody notices?
Oh, huh, you're Bronze 5. Now this all makes sense.

It was to Leopards Ghost, who seemingly thinks that there aren't 5 roles to play as in the game and that when I say you queue up as one for dynamic queue, I'm wrong...
The comments are above this one if you want to read
I guess I was trying to reply directly to their comment but it posted a new comment instead, whoopsies
